Have you guys played the console version? If so you know with hardly any effort you get every damn legendary and set item you need. Now that we know rare legend and set items will be BiS in RoS i highly doubt they will be hard to find.
This is what my fear is. I don't want OMFGodly items mashed up and spoon fed to me all day long.
Isn't that how it is now with AH?
I kinda doubt godly items will drop all the time. Just because legendaries will drop often, it hardly means they will always be perfect.
But it is something Blizzard should answer. When greatly increasing droprates, how do they plan to offer progress 6 months or 12 months down the road?
IF.....if you have the gold and/or are willing to spend cash, which I'm not.
Everybody has 1 thing in common; We all play the game. If playing the game means freakish drops become ordinary fare......... PC D3 is starting to look like the console.
The quality of drops needs greatly improved. The nonsensical randomness needs cleaned up. But the rate CANNOT be so dramatic that finding the best items is only a matter of playing for a few hours here and there.
One opportunity that could also be utilized is maybe to have every legendary be craftable. Say, every legendary can be taken to the blacksmith and turned into some level 70 mat. Collect 1000 mats and you can make a legendary of your choice. That could help undermine the problem of bad luck factor.
Not sure how fond I am of it, but could be something to discuss.

Honestly i'll give it to blizzard for trying something new. I mean before D3 released if someone told you we would see a Diablo game with No skill trees, pvp or trading what would you have said?
This is honestly the worst thing that could happen. Blizzard is taking a very dumb stance on this. Because of no trading drops have to be increased, or you'll never get your item... but then what's the point in hunting if I find my items daily? It kills the Loot hunt. So far Loot 2.0 is looking good but I'm hesitant to the supposed drop rates. Loot 2.0 is bringing with it better stat rolls useful secondary affixes, a major overhaul to stat ranges and better range of Legendaries throughout all LVL's of the game. This is all Perfect, but If we are spoonfed Legendaries then they become whites, they're all just flooding us and eventually we'll all be perfect rolled characters... Not entirely fun anymore. They need to look at drop rates keep em low maybe a slight bump not 6 Legendaries on an act 3 run with P40 maybe 1 or 2, and allow trading so you can overall get the same effect but everyone has to actually work for that effect. The way it is now I would just be seeing a golden beam every unique and that's just no fun either.

I find myself very neutral in this particular topic, but I wanted to comment on this point. Having the option, or possibility, to acquire specific legendaries is only fair. But while the items themselves may be BoA, one potential workaround for this is making crafting patterns for those legendaries that are NOT BoA. That way, if you can't find that Mempo or Frostburn or whatever, you can hunt down the pattern for it and start making your own. With the focus clearly shifting to self-found, that seems like a viable option to me.
Just a thought.
Yes, let's discuss that.
No, but seriously, I'm glad at least someone is on the same page as me.
One very worrisome thing to me here is that Blizzard is essentially saying clearly, the BiS items will ALWAYS be Legs/Sets. Rares are being declared as a clear second best. Which means, for players that play often, after less than a year, we won't even bother to pick up rares anymore. Why bother?
I've always said this and I'll say it again; Rares should be able to compete with Legendaries, minus a given special effect/affix.
This decision is taking one extreme to another, and there is plenty of reason to suggest that this one bonehead move could continue this trend of giving plenty of players plenty of reason to bitch....or worse, quit for good.
Btw, what about whites and blues?, are we gonna have some kind of runewords?.
Whites and blues droprates are going way down. You'll see proportionately less of them than you do now. However, you can salvage whites to get components for crafting.
I'll be honest im a self found player but even I as biased and selfish as I am I think 100% BoA legos and sets are a really, really bad idea.
I'm all for making enchanted and high end crafted gear BoA, thats fine. But you need to let people trade the other stuff. I don't care if you only let them use trade forums and chat to barter.
By taking away trading you taking away one of the major selling point of the genre, an item economy. Remove that and you also diminish another feature, Ladders.
For many a new ladder season means a new economy, new price lists and a chance to strike it rich. without trading its a leveling race (only 1% of the players care about) and a hunt for ladder items (gets old quick).
I just think this whole thing is a bad idea. I suggest everyone make a fuss and maybe Blizzard with change their minds.
Soulbound legendaries sounds great imo. It would really make them feel more legendary. Imagine seeing someone else having an awesome legendary and you know that the only way to get it is to have it drop, to me that would really feel like an achievement getting that item. I think it will work well with loot 2.0 .. Also it would be cool if they did it like in D2, where specific legendaries drop from specific monsters, so you know where to look for em.
But then again, i also think trading is a fun part of diablo. But i'd still sacrifice a part of the trading for making the game more fun and satisfying
(dont know why the text turned grey, sorry lol)
Its not as awesome as you think it is. I have around 200 hours in the console version with a 450k Dps unbuffed barb with 120k hp and 900 AR. It took almost no effort to get like that and i couldnt careless what other people found when im that OP.
Why don't they make items tradeable between clan members?
Lol. "WTT MEMPHO, PST for CLAN INVITE"
c)
Why don't they put the ability to craft a legendary in for those who can't find one of the own?
This was actually a good post. What if you COULD craft a random legendary with enough materials? That might make this trading thing go away? What if they made a "Gheed" type NPC you could use gold to gamble for that legendary you have your heart set on?
On the entire thread; I had certain reservations about making the AH "Go-away" and it looks like Blizzard just threw up their hands and said "Having an AH was simply the best way to trade. If it didn't work...No trading. At all!"
playing as a barb some legendary wizard hat drops and it will be soulbound to my barb?
GREAT.
Brimstone dat Best-in-slot wizard head
You could give it to your alt, tho. But if you dont like wizard youre basicly forced to bristone it (if you play solo).
man, this game is getting me more angry with every news about it
People are buried so deep with just one class. I have every class of level 60 on both SC and HC. I think more people should play multiple classes. That way you can find use for all of your gear.
Thats not the point, even then as a player I should be able to play the classes I wanna play. For example I love the barb and wiz but hate the WD. If I'm getting BOA items for witch doctors and I can't trade them to a player who likes to play that class then that item is useless to me.
Why don't they make items tradeable between clan members?
Lol. "WTT MEMPHO, PST for CLAN INVITE"
Diablo 3 has absolutely no duping method aside from a rollback scam, which only witnesses sporadic duplication of handfuls of items. And many people get caught doing this.
It's time for a few of you to grow up and deal in facts. Simply "LOL?" will not make a case for whatever opinion you're trying to promote.
As for the second part;
If they can have such a complex system as they're talking about, than they could easily have a system that only allows items to be traded among existing Clan members that were on the roster at the time of item spawn.
There are honest ways to have a trade system in place. ...and you responding with "LOL" isn't making you look smart. I'm trying to help come up with solutions. Your'e just smart mouthing.
Judging from the 20 or so screenshots from Blizzcon, the Legendaries will still have a huge random component (such as 4 random stats), so it surely won't be that easy to get the best loot.
Also, for me at least, D3 is all about playing with friends and trading with them. So it's perfect that you actually want to give an item you cant use to someone else, as opposed to selling it (which, lets face it, most people would do).
The problem I have with this is the god-awful 4-person per game limit. I always hated this, and will hate it even more now. I have a group of 10 or so friends, so there's always around 6-7 of us online, creating problems who will play with who, leaving the 5th player to play alone etc. This is especially a problem now that there's 6 classes and you can only fit 4 in the game.
What's really smacking me in the face is the punitive effect this has on player freedom and control over our own gaming experience.
I leveled a Barb to 60(4). I didn't care for it. Not my style. I won't be playing Barb. So......(hypothetical time). If I'm playing while I watch football (as I so often do), or have a number of other things going on throughout my Saturday, I may not want to play with friends, as I'll be going AFK on and off often.
So I made a choice to solo. I find an incredible Barb item. I am now punished for not doing what Blizzard is goading me to do...i.e. play with others or else. I'm stuck with this fuckin' thing.....it lost all value because control of my game experience was wrestled away from me by my thoughtless overlords, Blizzard inc.
I see the positives of closing down a rampant open trade system, killing D3jsp and other 3rd party avenues of trade. If Blizzard insists on this ideology, I gotta think some sort of inter-Clan trading system would be best. Time-stamp the item and make it tradeable only with other Clan members whom appear on the roster prior to the items time-stamp.
This would encourage Clan activity. As well, it would create a great dynamic for Clans to become powerful through inter-Clan trades. Bragging rights for the Clan, a bit of fun and some player born control.
In no way whatsoever is loss of control and freedom a good thing.
The game is not a sandbox. Let's just take it a step further and lose all restrictions and have everybody pose their own restrictions on themselves based on how they feel the game should be played then? Blizzard taking a unified stance on a mechanic has a purpose. Self imposing limits is self defeating. You put the limits on yourself, but don't actually feel engaged by it because it is for no real purpose, because for many it is a multiplayer experience and you want to play on the same footing as everyone else does.
This is exactly what happens, for example diablo 2 pvp as far as the game goes no rules really applied so what happend? Players make them up to make it work / better. If you played clan pvp there were very tight rules on, no pots / only one absorb item of each element / knockback was not allowed (1 or 2 exeptions) etc etc. Non of this was imposed by the game the players chose what they want to make things better / fun / fair.
In reality imposing limits on yourself is a vital part of becoming an expert in many areas especially sports. Once you can do a task to a good level you don't keep doing that same task for ever, you must make it more difficult often by limiting yourself. Then when taken back to the original task it will be esier and you better at it.
Sellf imposed limits are quite often the opposit of self defeating, even in a game (virtual) enviroment there must be some flexability.
Brilliantly stated.
I played a great deal of competitive GM Zeal duels in D2. The players had full control, and this is a key aspect in what made D2 so endearing to so many.
We had clearly stated, well known rules. We had prizes and structure for the tourneys....even websites to organize them. All 100% player controlled. We didn't need big poppa dictating control to us.
Blizzard seems to struggle with some serious egotistical issues.
I haven't played it, but if it's true what you describe here, Blizzard intentionally makes this game for a very short playtime (for a Diablo game). So everyone will be bored in no time and people start to ask for another loot revamp.
Yes, I'm sure Blizzard is desperate for the player base to be clamouring for Blizzard to spend vast amounts of money and development time on revamping the items at no cost to the players in just a few short weeks after Loot2.0
My main concern is the complete lack of a bad luck item check here, in my total play time, (which is higher then i care to admit :P) I have found 10-15 legs and 1 set item, unless BiS loot starts falling from the sky (very bad) the chances of anyone but the top 1% of players by play time ever managing to complete a set are absolutely tiny, especially with the increased number of legs and sets.
Trading needn't be easy, but it should be possible.
An anonymous item only (no gold) exchange would seem to be the best option, people can place items up with what they are looking for, people can then message and offer, offer can be accepted or rejected or a counter offer made.
It would then make trading possible, but time intensive, hopefully meaning it is used to fill gaps rather than just gear up.
The fact it is anonymous prevents people trading a grey + D2jsp FG for a BiS item, and any account or contact info people try to include in mails could be stripped to by an automated system.
I don't mind Legendaries becoming SB. Personally, I agree on that.
Sets are where I'm a bit on the fence. It all depends on how often they will drop after loot 2.0. All of D2 players remember what a PITA it was to assemble a set (without using 3rd party programs). I don't mind spending a month or two assembling a set, but I do not want it to take 4-6 months!

i think account selling will be much more common now, since trading is gone, remember the 7000e EF, the people with money will always find a way, i think making all items boa is not a good solution, making all bind on guild or bind on group could be a solution.
