Making this one a quickie, since I'm really just seeing if I may have missed anything.
Have we heard any word yet on whether (or how) Set Items will be addressed in the updates and expansion? Obviously, all the datamining has brought to light a ton of item affixes the devs are testing out and playing with. And we've heard a decent amount about how legendaries are going to be truly "build-changing." That's all well and good. I'm not being an ingrate here, :-)
But...and I'm probably wrong here...I've always seen Set Items as kind of the premier items. The creme of the crop. Even if one piece wasn't a monumental upgrade, if you were lucky enough to get all or most of them, you'd be in a real good spot. Granted, some Sets were better than others, some Sets were designed for certain classes more than others.
I'd just love to see more done with Set Items as well as legendaries. I'm not going to say Set Items are lacking, I'm very happy with the ones I've found...I'd still really like to see more Natalya's and Immortal Kings pieces, and an Inna's pants looted from a monster or chest...
Just curious if anything's been said about them yet. Brief edit: I think this came up for me as when I was reading the Mystic preview post, it said only Rares and Legendaries would be enchantable. Anybody think Sets are being classified as Legendaries there?
Nothing concrete has been said beyond the usual "we're considering it"/"it's something we'd like to do eventually". As for the mystic thing; yes, set items are considered a subset of legendary, just like how it's sorted in the AH.
This is a bit off topic but I remember vividly the moment my friend quit d3. He finally acquired all pieces of tal rasha and his character didn't glow. Seriously that's messed up that they forgot making us glow after wearing all the items.
I just want more interesting set bonuses (not bland primary stat gains), that actually make me wonder whether I want a 2-piece set bonus or if I want a 5-piece set bonus.

I'm pretty sure I remember Josh mentioning this in one of the Gamescom interviews. But there were like a million of those and I have no idea which one it was.
Sets should be "spiced up" via the set bonuses IMO.

Wow...little shallow, but okay...I'm sure if they can make a beam shine from the heavens down on high end items, they can make that happen, too.
Then again, most people don't tend to wear all the pieces of Sets anyway. Did your friend quit reasonably early into the game's life?

I do think they need to be boosted, and made more potent. I want to find all the pieces of all the sets, but that's just because I love finding new treasure.
Of the sets I started finding, I look at the bonuses for wearing all the pieces, and it's kinda underwhelming. I don't need a fancy glow, but I would like to know that when I put on all the pieces of a set, I gained some really great powers.
I'm sure they can do something like that that doesn't just involve resource or cooldown reductions or Magic Find. POWERS! :-D
I'd really like to see some motivation to wear the complete set. I don't need the glow or turning into a vamp like in D2,
but I do want a reason to choose a complete set over bits and pieces.
Now that the AH will be gone, can we PLEASE get an increased drop chance for chests and related gizmos?
I hated it when they nerfed it because some people were abusing it (and selling their spoils, of course).
And I approve this message, :-)
Even if they were crap, some of my favorite legendary finds were from barrels and chests, because they came so far outta nowhere. I poked my head into the Bridge Stores in Act 3, killed some barrels, and I had to brag about finding a Tzo Krin's Gaze in General Chat just because I found it from a barrel. Hilarious.
But yeah, I understand that nerf, too, but I'd love more good loot from chests, Resplendent especially. Even if they have to increase the difficulty of monsters leading up to it, so that you're earning whatever drops from it, cool. But more high end stuff from chests, hell yes.
The nerf to chests and objects had less to do with people selling the loot on the AH than exploiting gear swapping and such to basically go around doing nothing but breaking objects to find loot. What you do with the loot you find doesn't matter, it's the method of getting it that Blizzard doesn't approve of. They want you to be killing stuff, not busting crates.

Well, now nobody is busting crates or opening chests.
I am...though I'm not overly happy with it, I'll admit.
So...I don't know, maybe they don't need to raise the drop rate from breakables, Miles, but why not just chests? If I get one beam from breakables every six months, fine. But chests? A little tiny bit more? Especially Resplendent Chests, where most of the time, I actually had to go through some work to get to the bottom of a dungeon to find one? :-)

Yeah he quit that first month or two. It was more of a that's-the-last-straw then the actual reason why he quit. Keep in mind there were a lot of things horribly wrong and frustrating to no end that lead him to that point (lead me to the point of hating the game as well). Despite all the obvious problems the game had the only thing he wanted was to collect a tals set like his D2 sorce and glow. Blizzard didn't give him that satisfaction... Poor guy he even bought the CE.

My point was that the AH has nothing to do with the decision to nerf chests/boxes and so the removal of the AH should have no impact on them buffing them back up. I think a much better solution would be to buff the droprates but change it so MF does not affect them. That way people would have more encouragement to go around breaking stuff and see good rewards for doing it, but it wouldnt be ALL they wanted to do, and wouldn't bother gear/stat switching to make it more efficient.

I disagree. With the RMAH in the mix, it had to be a factor.
Well, the same people who figured out that they could clear Whimsyshire, equip MF gear, then open all the chests for big profits would be the same people who would sell gear/gold on JSP anyway. But, yes, the general ability to turn in-game things into real-world $$$ kinda incentivizes people to behave badly.

I thought that was pretty obvious. That MF affected chests and barrels in the first place had to be one of the most idiotic thing in this game. Train wreck waiting to happen. And it did.
Just make it equal to every player, regardless of gear or Plvl, and raise those bloody odds.
It probably is the best solution. It's completely idiotic that you can clear a whole area, change up your gear (gaining MF because there are no more threats) and then pop open all chests, barrels, ashes, etc. That's obviously bad gameplay and it's fueled solely by the fact that MF effects chests and objects. It would be much healthier if MF simply didn't effect it - and it would reduce SOME of the difference between a high-MF toon and a low-MF toon too. Probably a good move IMO.

While we're at it. I really hope, they will tune the drop rates of class specific items again (down this time). Spirit Stones don't even count as legendaries to me anymore, it's more of a wasted glow effect, like for that mushroom..
There will be new dazzling sets suited to level 70 characters
The existing sets will be overhauled just like the legendaries
Though I suspect that I will be having a bit of a butt-hurt over the fact that the Immortal King isn't the best Barb set anymore and that Tal Rasha isn't the best Wizard set anymore. But well, I'll transmogrify it
Not necessarily. I think, they've said, all legendaries will drop at all levels, so you might find an IK item at lvl70 with all lvl 70 affixes. The only thing, they'd had to polish, would be the set bonuses. No way to keep them static. I totally agree, that IK has to be the Barb set, for tradition alone, but I'd also like to see some new sets.

I just remembered those skeletons popping from opened barrels in D1 and D2. Make them super-skeletons that'd kill people if caught off guard, that'd be hilarious
I don't see chests working without dependency on MF.
I think the only reason the MF on barrels thing was abused and nerfed was because of two reasons:
(1) Inferno was so damn difficult at the time. It was easier to create a game in act 4 break the few "barrels" in certain set locations and then recreate to do it again. If you couldn't kill the monsters this was the next best thing.
(2) Items we consider trash today were still amazing at the time. Finding a 900 DPS blue weapon was actually something of value and the fact that many were stuck in Act 1 Inferno made farming barrels in Act 4 Inferno worthwhile.
Remember that Acts 3 and 4 had different level monsters then the other acts at the time.

I have to agree about set bonsues, the only ones I even consdier for the 4 set is Zumi's and inna's and they aren't even that great...

Neither of these factors apply today.
