Just bear in mind that the Mystic adding sockets is probably not a separate feature from Enchanting. I'm pretty sure the idea is that Sockets are a random affix, and as such can be rolled in an enchanted Weapon (as a random roll, not as a manual socketing).

Wyatt didn't explicitly say that, but I think it was most certainly implied.
EDIT
I guess I should have said that Wyatt said he kinda sorta thinks that might be the case according to Josh!

"I think the answer is yes, if I did not hear it wrong, Josh said on the Gamescom presentation.
Correct. Sockets are a possible affix that can be re-rolled onto an item (at least currently)."
I find a pair of gloves... Main stat, Vit, + armor, CD, CC
Awesome they are decent but what if i could roll a stat to make it a trifecta!!!
I head to the Mystic and select + armor
Attempt 1... It rolls Physical res
Attempt 2... it rolls Pick up radius
Attempt 3... it rolls + armor but the value is lower than before
...
...
...
Attempt 150... it rolls Armor i give up... Im left with no more BOA mats or gold.
I head to the RMAH pay 5 bucks for gold and go to the gold ah and buy that trifecta i wanted for less gold than i spent on actually re-rolling the item.
You don't have to imagine it, because it's right there on our front page.
And it doesn't work exactly as you think: http://www.diablofan...tic-blue-posts/
"Even though you are allowed to reroll only ONE property, you can reroll that property over and over. For example, suppose an item has 200 str, 200 vit, 80 res all, +1200 Life on Kill and +400 Life on Hit. You might choose to reroll the +1200 Life on Kill and get +87 Hitpoints per second. You can then reroll the +87 Hitpoints per second and get +4 gold pickup radius. You can reroll the "mutable" stat as many times as you want, but the other 4 stats (200 str, 200 vit, 80 res all and +400 Life on Hit) are now "locked in" and cannot be rerolled. "
The problem is not that you can't reroll a specific stat, but the need of that.
That is what they need to fix, items need to have value out of the trifecta.
I agree but how are they going to fix D3s horrid itemization so we dont need trifecta? or weapon damage dictating everything or CD/Socket or bust on weps... I mean are they really going to the drawing board with RoS? i doubt it. So until i see different the mystic will be exactly like i imagine it. A gold sink that many will consider not taking part in (unless they are 100% SF)... much like pre-BOA crafting.
Edit!!! Damn it i forgot to double quote! im sorry, i need to upgrade my forum editing skills.

You missed the paragraph directly following the one you quoted:
"Have you ever played an RPG with an enchanting system that sometimes randomly made the item worse? Since we're allowing the result to be random, it's possible that your choices for enchanting are worse than the property you're replacing. Oftentimes this can lead to a feeling of dread when you begin the enchanting process. Or maybe you re-enchant the item over and over hoping to at least get something better than what you started but you get unlucky and run out of money or reagents before you get a good roll! To mitigate this, when we present you the list of options one of the options is ALWAYS the original property. So if you don't like the new options you can always choose to keep the old one. Now you can enchant with peace-of-mind."
Notice the phrase "list of options". When you select the affix you want to reroll, you are going to be given many options to replace it with. This will make getting what you want vastly easier.

Normalize weapons damage across all similar type weapons. Bam, your weapon damage problem fixed.
Why is CD / socket needed for the best items? Because it, along with the other stats, gives dps of course. There's no 'fix' to this, because what you are wanting fixed is people wanting the best possible, so unless you delete the stats altogether (which will still make other stats a priority of you're looking to sell) the problem is still there.

While true, they can also nerf CD/CC by like half. You'd still want these stats to maximize dps but its impact will be lessened. If its impact isn't so great, people would be more inclined to to do without them if the weapon provided other benefits.
Agreed, but am I the only one who is just excited to see the character return? I want to know more about Miriam.
However, the core issues are still present, and everything they thew to us so far are not directly affecting them.

Lesson learnt... dont use the Mystic.
