I guess it was a given that we would eventually be given more stash space, but I think a screenshot off the main page confirms this.
There is now a chest next to the ID all station which currently is not in the game, along with the regular shared stash. Could this be just a graphic update or are we getting 2 chests to stash items similar to Torchlight 2 system where 1 for for that specific character and the other is a shared stash over all your characters.
Good eyes! More space is definitely needed. I do like the TL style of personal + shared so that would be a welcome addition IMO. I would also love to see something like the "sell junk" feature too. Send your companion back to town and a minute later, hello gold. That could also solve the "we have a reason to pick up white items now" potential issue as well. I know inventory management is part of the game but having to go back to town frequently kills pacing. Small QoL things, ya know?
The stash space is woefully inadequate at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if they went with a Torchlight-style personal + shared stash or if they simply gave us the ability to buy several more pages of shared stash space via Paragon Levels.
However... I think it'd be a mistake to have two separate stash objects. One object should give you access to both stashes if that's what they are going to give us.
I'm pretty certain that's just a prop. If not I advise whoever is still at Gamescom to go check out the playable demo and see if there's a new chest next to the book in each Act.
Personally, I'm happy that the entire inventory system as a whole was updated from D2. D2 gave you hardly any space at all! Not to mention the insane inconsistency that a giant sword, polearm or longbow took up 8 blocks of space, yet you couldn't stack tiny little gem chips, was irritating beyond belief.
However, I do agree with wanting more space. Like many, I'm a hoarder, I love collecting items and deciding what to do with them later, or saving whole item sets, etc. Which reminds me, because of all the new legendaries and such coming out...really need to set aside some time to "clean my room," so to speak, and PURGE. I have legendaries saved that I'm really doing nothing with, and going to be doing nothing with.
As for the idea of having two stashes for personal and shared, could be a great idea! In fact, I know a lot of people want a "self-found mode", but I think if they went this way instead, it could kind of alleviate the need for an entire "mode." They could go back to the concept of putting gold into the stash when you head back to town, but you could decide where it all goes. Sales from the AH go into the shared stash, but a player who wants a character to be entirely on their own, without any AH help whatsoever, could start with 0g in their personal stash, and their AH gold could effectively be kept separate.
I would also love to see something like the "sell junk" feature too. Send your companion back to town and a minute later, hello gold. Mutilate, have to disagree a slight bit here, with all due respect.
I've played Torchlight, and although I did find it convenient to have my pet go back to town to sell my junk and bring the gold back, I thought it was a bit gimmicky. I mean, you can do that with a pet, a pet mindlessly/loyally obeys. Followers are actual people, with (dare I say) thoughts and feelings. Not saying it's "insensitive" to ask Kormac or Eirena to drag your junk back to town for you, but...do you see a treasure-hound like Lyndon being okay with that, realistically? ;-)
In all seriousness, I know Blizzard wants to keep us out killing monsters, which arguably is the juicy backbone of playing a game like this. I know I love killing monsters as much, if not more, than any of the next guys...but I do think there's some benefit to heading back to town for a short breather, taking a look over your stash and inventory situation, maybe doing a spot of crafting, etc.
That was the motivation for them taking out the Nephalem Cube and the Cauldron of Jordan. You put those in the game, you almost have no reason to go back to town at all. Except to advance the story, and they could just as easily have the people you need for storylines appear farther up the trail somehow.
However...I do kinda wish that Followers could be outfitted with more gear. I mean, they can equip two rings, an amulet, and they have a main hand and offhand, technically (I think the Templar is the only one that can use two items, though), but I'd love to see the Followers revamped to have as many gear slots as your own character has.
Maybe...even updated Follower models in-game? Maybe Follower transmog? Boy, that'd be too much to hope for.

Disagree away! We're just talking about opinions
I get what you mean with it being gimmicky. My concern is more about some of the system changes that would cause you to have to take more trips back to town; white items as crafting reagents for example. As is I only pick up Rare/Legendary when farming and the pacing feels right most of the time. Adding more stuff that "feels mandatory" and it may get too much. Maybe just have a feature that auto salvages your whites as someone else suggested. (Sorry I forgot who said it first).
I would also like to see more customization with followers. I also wouldn't mind them announcing a new follower!
Yeah, more stash is always a plus...that sounds Ron Swanson dirty.
I also dislike the idea of a follower taking off to sell your junk. I think Blizz addressed this in the past and pretty much said that white items are pretty much there to help that pinata effect of things just bustin out of the baddies. I've long since come to terms with white items serving no purpose.
I do like the idea of a fully decked out follower, but again, I think this was addressed. There is a quote, albeit from Jay Wilson, that reads something along the lines of having a follower with the same gear options as you becomes micro managing. That being said, I'd still love to see it. I remember deckin out my act 2 merc in Hwanin's gear for a 200 def bonus. I would love to be able to do that again. I wouldn't even mind seeing more follower specific items, not just Templar books or whatever, but other items only they can equip. And a few follower specific legendary items would be cool.
On HC this is especially irritating. I, as many players do, stash lots of leveling gear for use after deaths.
One thing I think would be great would be something similar to what Guild Wars 1 had. Affixed into the stash tabs was a separate listing of all the crafting materials in the game. Next to it, a sum of the total amount you have.

Exactly. Good, civil debates are fun. I hate arguing, :-)
Well, do keep in mind what goes into assessing those rares and legendaries. If you're not picking up blues anymore, chances are you know exactly what you're looking for when it comes to assessing rares and legendaries, and I think THAT might be why the pacing feels right. 1) Even farming on high MPs will mean you're making very few trips back to town overall, and 2) Due to the quality of legendaries, rares and sets dropping, the few trips back you do make back are likely swift: ID ALL, skim over what you got, salvage a few, sell a few, stash a few for auctions, and right back out.
When Loot 2.0 hits, I don't think it'll be so much that picking up literally everything will feel mandatory, so much as you'll have more motivation to pick up more stuff, as taking the time to sift through everything you've earned will actaully be more worth it. As opposed to now, where our best bet to find our own upgrades is, like you said, only pick up rares and legs. I rarely ever try selling anything on the AH anymore, so I still pick up blues to supplement my gold income, but I don't even bother looking them over, I just vend vend vend.
In regard to auto-selling whites, you may be thinking of a feature in Loot 2.0 (and I believe the console version will be doing this) where the game will automatically turn some white and gray drops into gold drops instead of more and more and more gray and white gear that no one wants? Was that it?
All in all, updating the quality of ALL drops may encourage more trips back to town...but with the Loot update, those additional trips back to town may yield more progress than they do now.
I expect that's (sadly) nothing more than environment art. I expect we will get extra stash space, but at most only two tabs onto the existing shared stash. IIRC, it was originally 5 tabs but they reduced to 3 just before the beta.
I'd love a separate area for gems, crafting mats and dyes, and I'd also love a small personal stash (one tab, but inventory size would be fine too) that's unique for each character. Guess we'll have to see what Blizzard decides to offer, but I'm not keeping my hopes up beyond the original 2 tabs to existing shared stash max.
See, I'd support a feature for separate tabs for gems and crafting mats and dyes ON YOUR CHARACTER, seeing as most people have items set aside to reserve those spaces anyway. Like, one space for each flawless square gem, one space for a 100 stack of potions, one space for tomes of secrets, maybe a space for demonic essences, things like that. Allowing each character to have an inventory tab means they'll ALWAYS be able to pick those up, and not have to sacrifice inventory space just so they can be sure they have room for important stuff like that.
However, if they add more stash space overall in however many new tabs...I think that would be good enough in regard to the stash. More space means more room to maneuver stuff you want to save, and as long as people make wise decisions on what they keep and what they salvage or sell, there will be plenty of room for everything.

And yeah, I'm willing to bet that with the new focus on more Bind on Account items and Legendaries of different levels we are getting more stash space.
I'm hoping for at least twice as much as we have currently. And hopefully, hopefully we can get a separate stash for crafting reagents and gems.
However... I think it'd be a mistake to have two separate stash objects. One object should give you access to both stashes if that's what they are going to give us.
Ha. Bagstone.

Example;
Exquisite Essence~1500
Demonic Essence~670
Fiery Brimstone~420
...and so on. It functions as a list with a compiled amount as opposed to actually displaying the items as taking up a space in stash.
This would be a great way to alleviate space issues, even good for Gems.

It looks to me like the chests have different artwork. The chest to the top-left appears to be ascetic art tied to the vendor pictured next to it.
