Big-ass example: We will get Beta this year. This year!!!
Looks like all the "we'll have to wait up to a year for Loot 2.0" whining can stop now too. Hooray for information.
It also looks like the blues weren't lying when they said the devs were hard at work on a ton of things but had not worked out the details for how they'd be patched in.
All this "not til after Blizzcon" stuff meant was, quite literally that. They're fucking us up wiht a month's worth of hype, then they're going to hit us with a beta and whip us into a complete frenzy.
Fuck yea! If this beta goes the way vanilla was supposed to, and last 1.5-2 months tops, I'm smelling a febuary release, maybe sooner
Big-ass example: We will get Beta this year. This year!!!
He answered the questions "I hope the beta will be available this year" with "YES", not "there will be a beta this year". Of course he hopes to release beta this year, but it's wrong to say "we will get beta this year".

Aww. I apologise if this sounds misinformed. But the way he said it sounded they are far ahead in the project so.... :/
My apologies if this tantamount to trolling. :/
Nah, no need to apologize. I also almost didn't catch it. After all, we often hear what we want to hear. But after following Blizzard's development cycles for so long I've learnt to always be cautious.
Also, the "maybe" when asked for the 2014 release date is pretty telling... I think with that maybe we can forget about an early 2014 (i.e., March/April) release.
I personally just hope they'll release as much of this stuff as possible before the x-pac, so we'll get some nice patches early next year.

IMO, he answers maybe to avoid a future problem. Let's say they actually have the goal to release it by September 2014. WHAT IF there's a drastic issue with the design of one or more features and they have to delay the expansion to the next year? That's my point.
And btw, I'm optimistic with everything they are showing and talking, and I truly believe that RoS will come in May or even before

It's not off the table, but unrealistic. But yeah, if you wanna stay optimistic about it, why not. But only if the beta really starts this year. I think the beta will last at least 4-6 months, so if it starts at the end of this year May is possible. A more realistic assessment would be your September guess, imho. X-mas 2014 would be a pessimistic guess. Since they announced it to be released 2014 on the official page, I agree that 2015 and his "maybe" is probably only for the case that serious issues come up.
The thing is, with Blizzard's perfectionism and urge to polish everything "until it's done", and their experience with releasing D3 too early (the only time they ever made that mistake of releasing something unfinished afaik), it's not very unlikely that these "serious issues" come up. But yeah, I agree with you... let's stay optimistic! ;-)

I don't want to speculate too much, but the "yes" may have been because it was a yes/no interview?
Blizzard, regardless of the product or the director, has been pretty cautious about not promising dates. I wouldn't view the ambiguous "yes" response to that "question" as anything other than "we don't want to promise anything" because that is their MO.
I think everyone realized from the Gamescom that they were much further along with the expansion (and Loot 2.0) than we had anticipated and that's made me, personally, believe that a mid-Q2 expansion release is pretty likely. The further information we get at Blizzcon will really help us figure out just how close they are, though.
I don't think it's unrealistic. More and more I'm beginning to think the "nothing til after Blizzcon" is translating to "RoS beta sometime after Blizzcon."
If the beta lasts four months that means it should wrap up around late March or early April. And, frankly, I can't see them taking much more than a month from that point to print it, ship it, and sell it to the ravenous fans. I really think May-ish (the two-year anniversary) is a date we have to be very aware of. Don't you think Blizzard would be GIDDY if they could get this shit on the shelves for May 15th 2014? I think they would.

Why would the beta be 4-6 months long? This isn't going to be a full release of a new game or something. I highly doubt the beta will be that long. The original d3 beta was longer because they were testing out so many new things and the AH functionality, and yeah it was even a stall tactic because people were becoming impatient. I don't see the beta for this expansion lasting longer than 2-3 tops.

Same thinking here. The vanilla was supposed to last 2 months, it just happened to be a brand new game with an AH that delayed it. I seriously see 2 months for this beta, maybe less.
They revamp EVERYTHING - completely new itemization, new skills and runes for every class, plus a new class and a new act. All the crafting and stuff... that needs a lot of balancing, stress testing and lots of data.
As a software developer I call total BS on 2 months, sorry. There is no way a 2 months beta is sufficient. Absolutely no way.
Holy crap holy crap holy crap! What are these dices? Charms? Talisman items? Crafting materials? Also, look at the newly shaped gems and the two legendary (stacked) items...
2h flails was already indirectly confirmed in another interview, IIRC.
So as he says and as i write 2 sites before there will be second act ! the hell ! the pandemonium ! he said the exploration from westmarch to pandemonium will be not in the same act "no , there will be more "
Sorry, what? Can you say the time stamp in the video you're referring to?
Edit: That's not what I've heard. He didn't ask if it's in the same act, he asked if it's "all the exploration we get". "No, there will be more". Of course there will be more than just these two areas... otherwise it would be pretty boring ;-)

No man, they're the Scoundrel special item. Already in game
