23/08 - Disclaimer: the post will be updated with everything known so far (interviews, details) and re-edited as soon as possible. Probably tonight, in a couple hours.
Confirmed info straight from Gamescom.
Reaper of Souls confirmed to be the D3 Expansion. = This is a much "darker" expansion.
Cinematic link is below. Story spoilers, obviously.
Malthael, formerly the Angel of Wisdom, becomes the Angel of Death, and now seeks to destroy Humanity/Demons (conflicting info).
= Malthael can turn the dead against their loved ones.
= Can drain the souls from his victims, being death incarnate. Still has wings, but skeletal ones.
Westmarchseems to be the setting for the New Act.
= More medieval feeling
= Cemeteries and other unique places
New Class:Crusader
= Inspired by the Paladin.
= Focuses on Shields. Uses Flails as weapons.
= Mid-range melee character.
= Apparently uses Wrath as a resource.
New Monsters
= Seraph
= Summoner of the Dead
= Executioner
= Death Maiden
Level Cap increased to 70
= Every class gets new Skills and Runes. = Which means a fresh economy and new power-cap as well.
New Artisan (Mystic)
= Can Transmogrify items, so you don't have to sacrifice looks for power.
= Item Enchanting - allows to reroll one of the affixes on a rare/legendary item.
Loot 2.0
= Smart Drop - chance that the affixes on items dropped will match the character you're playing.
= Less overall drops - more meaningful ones (open spoiler for comparison between Vanilla D3 and Expo)
= Legendary will be build-changers.
= Example Legendary: God Butcher
Loot Runs
= 15-20 minutes Dungeons - these are completely random.
= Random Weather!
= Random Enemies!
= Random BOSS!
Nephalem Trials
= Nothing about this so far.
Paragon 2.0
= Is now Account wide.
= No longer has a cap (?!!)
= Seems to have Stat Allocation tied to it
Feel free to discuss these here, but let's all try to keep the it focused (and not go over the subjects that were discussed to death already)
I really never would've thought they'd increase the level cap. It's kinda a white flag and saying "okay, the itemization patch can't just be a band-aid, we need to completely reset everything". I'm also wondering if they'll "reset the economy" with multiple expansions just as in WoW, it kinda looks like that; since there are no ladder resets like in D2, they need to do something else to hit the reset button every once in a while.
Crusader: awesome. Love it. Exactly what I wanted :-)
So now boss (maybe only act 5?) will always drop a legendary item. Thye better increase the difficulty of the bosses if not... no i dont want to imagine it.
Cmon, announce it already!! give us a ladder! you can do it!! plz? ^^'
It's pretty much the only way to not screw the economy and new players that will start with the game at RoS
Oh hey thats... interesting... the mystic is back and now allow us to put exactly the stat we want on an item
Excited for the Crusader. The paladin was my favorite class in d2. I guess they wont include any type of "aura" abilities since the Monk's got that covered.
Not sure how I feel about the lv 70 cap, that effectively resets everyone's gear.
They also announced "smart drops" for loot 2.0. Everytime an item drops it has a chance to be tweaked so it suits the character you are currently playing.
Does anyone know what happens to existing paragon levels? Is it better to have 5 classes (or even 10 chars) on level 20 or rather 1 char (resp. 2 chars) on p100?
I wonder what are the "stars" next to the name of the two legendaries, Jawbreaker and Serpent's Sparker? Some kind of a "star rating" for the overall level of that item or something related to enchanting? Maybe the legendaries start at 0 stars (the Puzzle ring doesn't have any) and then you can somehow increase their power and thus the "star rating"?
Maybe it's to distinguish "typical" stats (that can roll on all items on that slot) from "special" legendary affixes? Just guessing ;-)
But overall this looks like what we wanted all along... now the expansion, how much is it going to cost? will it be free? $40? Beta? Will it be open, closed? Will it have more public testing than D3? ...AMG I HAVE TO STAHP
I think they are, but as an end-game stat that leaves you wondering what's better... 50 STR or 15% MF.
It's still there to make the "journey" to the end-game (Paragon 100) a bit more enjoyable if you're into that. I regret not having a maxed MF char when the Legendary patch came. I'd be a rich guy now
Paladin returns? stat allocation? darker, more Gothic look? meaningful(build changers?) legs? does anyone feel we are returning to our beloved D2?
Some changes might feel like an influence from D2, but I also feel that the progression works out a bit like WoW... expansion as a "reset button", raised level cap, and new gear that just lets go all stats through the roof (have you seen that 3k DPS bow?)...
I think there's lots of potential, let's wait for how it turns out.
Also, everyone should keep in mind that there will be a D3X beta, and just remember how much they changed in the last phase of the D3 beta (like, not just small changes but big stuff like skills).
So, no mention of a self found mode, PvP, ladder, or any kind of competitive, community driven addition to the game. It's gonna feel like a weak expansion if the Loot Run random dungeon is the highlight of the end game. Really hoping they will announce more cool features in the coming months.
Also, all those legendaries should stay permanently account bound, because a simple gear/power reset like they always do with WoW is not gonna cut it in the long run if the bots/AH can continue to devalue gear with each passing day.
Great trailer though. As expected.

Looking forward to the trailer!
Will this increase the number of characters per account by 2?

There was a lot of text, but I believe I read loot 2.0 will be a patch. (Today, not from past posts). However I also could be wrong.

So many many questions..
But interesting how the point system works in the new paragon system. As you can see in the pic, there are unspent points.
