I'm not sure if there is one of these floating around but I figured there have been a lot of ideas thrown around for changes in the game people would like to see in 1.09 and beyond. I'm optimistic about blizzard making changes, but being a company that has share holders, I imagine they'll include these changes in an expansion and not just lump all their eggs in once basket so to speak.
To get things started.
I'd like to see 'storyboard' mode removed. I think this was a big mistake on their part, yes it solved the dialog issues with skipping bosses and killing others but being able to create a game and explore anything and everything regardless of the act is something I think a lot of other people want as well.
Runewords
I think adding runewords would be a great idea to boost crafting. This could potentially become a better gold sink as you could perhaps craft runeword gear with the help of certain rune drops, current/new crafting materials and obviously gold. Runewords could perhaps unlock certain abilities that you're unable to bind, they could add a passive abilities/stats..and so forth.
Charms
Charms I think are a great way to increase build diversity and allow for better character customization. The argument blizzard made about charms and that they didn't want them to be mandatory I think was another poor decision. Charms promote diversity and could allow you to stack lets say resists or a primary stat, and then perhaps focus on other types of gear with better affixes. This also allows players to make use of their large and often empty inventory.
Bigger zones/dungeons
Alot of the zones feel really small and often don't contain a lot of mobs and elites (yes even with mob density they could still be bigger maps and dungeons) My biggest problem with completing all the quests was that it felt really quick and rushed, I didn't get to explore as much.
Feel free to post your ideas and/or disagree/agree with mine.
Charms: HELL NO. Please not. Don't make it mandatory to waste inventory space with all these charms again (or gimp ourselves just because we like to vacuum Chaos Sanctuary).
Bigger zones: I think the zone size as such is okay, but if you can't jump across acts they should imho extend act 4 to make it as long as the other acts. I guess they'll introduce a new fifth act though, don't think they'll work on existing content, at least not a lot.
I hope they find something to fix the AH dependency, besides BoA. But even if BoA is the only solution, I'd take that. I just want to have that feeling that I might be able to find an upgrade for myself again - I just can't force myself to play completely self-found and even a "no AH server" probably wouldn't fix it if that means I can't play with my friends anymore.
Oh, and I know this is unpopular, but I hope they do something about CMWW. It's just cheating imho, I can drag any player through MP10 with my wizard, it shouldn't be that way. I was surprised to read that they want to "fix Archon and WotB", but didn't mention CMWW which is imho the bigger issue.
And of course I'm looking forward to the itemization changes, but these already got announced.

Well my hope is that the charms would take up something like they did with the mystic or even like the horadric cube. Something in your inventory that expands for greater space for said charms.

Charms (and the Talisman) were just another additional slot for items with the same stats. Rather than adding even more slots, I'd rather see them focus on the existing 13 slots and make upgrades there worthwhile and not like "gimme trifecta or it's crap".

Well, I can say from feedback and testing we've made the decision to pull the Talisman from the initial release of the game.
It was a cool idea at its core, but right now it's just really too basic and doesn't provide anything you can't get from the armor and weapons you're equipping. It requires a lot of the player to invest time and energy into finding and storing yet another type of item just to add player stats. When they do all that, it's just to do something pretty boring that they can already do with awesome things like armor and weapons. Originally the Talisman had a much deeper design, but it proved very ambitious and it got whittled down over the years to a very basic +stat per single square. We like simplicity in our designs, but charms became superfluous in their purpose.
We really like the core idea, but we don't want to stop everything and spend a large amount of time trying to fix the Talisman, although we do have some great ideas already. So, it'll very likely come back in some form or another after the game ships. And be awesome.
^While their reasoning came with some valid points, I think it was cut because they ran out of time, not because it wouldn't have worked. Charms can serve a purpose and how I explained my thoughts behind their implementation could certainly work. I'd rather be able to stack primary attribute charms for example and then perhaps get a piece of gear that had better affixes and vitality..but was missing that primary stat.

Or you could stack crit and vit on charms and main stat on other gear. See their point?

An actual endgame they won't nerf. More things to work towards (i.e enchants on top of best in slot items, runestones, et cetera, the talisman, all the stuff that should have been in the game launch day) in terms of improving your character. Either an end to the run speed cap, a higher number on the cap, or a Sprint on every character class that isn't incredibly trolly to keep up (for instance, Tempest Rush is absolutely not equivelant to Sprint).
Charm combos that make weird skill builds work better.
As far as I'm concerned they could certainly transfer that hinted "allows Wiz to spawn 2 Hydras" to charms. Making it require a specific "tetris" style combination to have it work.
I'd certainly like to see things like Mirror Image and Wave of Force be used more, and Charms/Talisman would be a great way to do that without having to mess with items too much.
So? You could say the same about every single gear slot you already have. Why have amulets? Just buff rings. Why have shoulders? Just buff chests.
Also, they could add unique affixes, so that's not even a valid excuse.
Agreed, but I think that unique affixes are the ONLY way to go. If charms were just to become "more stats" then that's something I really wouldn't want. But, think of this - what if they were to migrate all the class-specific affixes to charms and then allow you to use 4 of them. That could quite possibly bring about some more build diversity and it would certainly allow character customization if you were actively choosing which skills to buffi via charms.
Just giving charms the existing stats, though, IMO would be a mistake. But if they made charms into some form of build-centric thing and coupled that with a "charm bag" (ie: charms don't spend your normal inventory space) I think that would take the generally decent idea of charms from D2 but address the major issues that players have had with them and result in something that's quite good.

It was a perfectly valid excuse in that context. He just wanted more gear slots to be added. Why not just have 25?
Unique content on the other hand is good in any way. Doesn't have to be in the form of charms. Unique affixes can be added through crafting, enhancing/enchanting and a lot of methods I can't think of when I've slept for so little.
Why charms? Well, what other options do we have? more gear for the same slots? sure that would be nice as it can provide more options but ultimately it will all go down the "ineffecient drain" once people decide which pieces are BIS.
Charms can be nice but i can't help but think that they will all be account bound.
People like "familiar" stuff. Things they've seen before and are used to. Human nature 101
Even though Charms were arguably a horrible "gaming" mechanic in D2 (as they were mandatory stat boosters, and not having some would surely hold you back) most people remember them as a known feature in a game they loved.
I'm sure they're debating how to best make the Talisman idea work in the expansion as we speak

That's pretty much what I'd like to see happen. They definitely can bring charms back, its just a matter of how they go about it.
And as to someone asking why charms, well...why not? We really cannot add anymore gear, and if these supplemental items help boost stats, skills, or even add new passives or abilities only found from charms why not? It might be another item hunt but at least it gives you the ability to find new things.
I'm sure I'd love to see a 'whatever color' charm drop and identify it.

Well, sounds exactly like the Talisman from the beta. Which was canceled for a reason.

-Runewords
-Ladder System
-A New Act 5
Therefore I don't need charms, I don't like my inventory geting full instantly
Aaaaaaaaaaaand: An endless Dungeon Mode like many other Dungeon Crawlers have today
Random overworld boss encounters. A scenario where its a boss among normal mobs in a zone.
Oh, and Legendary follower tokens. Gotta have those or i will implode with OCD.
Or you could stack crit and vit on charms and main stat on other gear. See their point?
It's just one more gear slot (or several)
Ha. Bagstone.
but..but...I want my charms.
-New areas similar to the fields of misery for an example which are quite big and can hold many different random dungeons / events.
-New classes: Druid (int based shapeshifter), Knight (strength based, shield oriented), Nomad (agility based, spear oriented kinda like the act 2 merc from d2).
-Bring back the talisman and give charms unique stats that cannot roll on armor pieces or weapons.
-Some awesome pvp system like an arena or something.
-Remake all of the underused skills that the current classes have and possibly add new ones (passives too).
-Remove the limit on what act waypoints you can go to.
Thats all i could think of at the moment.
/yawn...saw that in D2. They'll never put those in. If they ever do, I'll eat my hat !
hope your hat is tasty!
- New gem types. (Some that enhance elemental damage. I like freezing stuff)
- New monster affixes. (go crazy Blizzard. I want a challenge)
- Diablo 3 Vanilla zones having new dynamic events as well as new expansion monsters spawning in the first 4 acts. That way Acts 1-4 stay inhabited.
- New Skills for the classic 5 classes.
- Revamped Passives to synergize with more skills and items.
As far as I'm concerned they could certainly transfer that hinted "allows Wiz to spawn 2 Hydras" to charms. Making it require a specific "tetris" style combination to have it work.
