I've recently found myself in the top 10 list on diabloprogress (pvp dummy, which is eHP and DPS combined) and I'm kinda proud of that to be honest. Pride is relative ofc., it's only a game, but still...
Now, my question is this. There are only 2-3 in the top 10 that dual wield. The others use shields. I would like to know if there are rankings like this where you can add "dual wield" as a search option to weed out the shield wearers. Is there such a thing? Are there other sites like diabloprogress?
If you don't even need all your fingers to count up to your rank I hardly think there is a need for a search function. Diabloprogress is a unnecessary poison for this game that enforces players to both pay and compete for the absolute wrong reasons, had to be said.
I have no problem understanding where you are coming from. I understand that this may "force" people into feeling that they have to pay to win. But you don't have to. I sure didn't. Not a dime has left my credit card. And believe me: my motivation for playing doesn't come from "how high is my ranking". I love to smash monsters, just like everyone else. Also, if I was rank-addicted I would have gone for DPS ranking. But 450k ub monks are unplayable at MP10 (in my eyes). And MP10 is where the fun stuff happens
No reason for such a list? I just want to see the top 100 or so to see how players evolve and to see what's going on. I can see that now as well, but I would have to search manually since there are a lot of shield wearers. The "need" is in the eye of the beholder.

Your attitude about it is admirable as well - keep that up.
Sorry that I can't help you with the original question. And again, congratz for the awesome Monk.
You buy your gear with what you've earned, whatever currency that may be shouldn't bother anyone. What you're looking for is a list of reasonable players but since that isn't a stat value it can't be pressed out from the site without manually investigating in one way or another.
Because the armory has an XML basis I can't really place blame that someone has made a feed with search functions, but without a doubt it has still managed to convince a very large part of the playerbase that a character can only be valued by how EXPENSIVE the gear is instead of raw functionality, and to 'win' at the game you're required to spend money like you would on a new car.
Figure out the minimum defense requirements and stop paying for damage upgrades that are insignificant and actually start working on that first earned 1000€. Having goals that are actually obtainable and genuinely progressive will keep you more interested in the game even if the content is as lacking as it is now.
Our gear would be destroyed if not repaired. I use gold to repair my gear. If the gold I spend on my gear (through AH or trades) is pay to win, then repairing (and crafting) is the same, right? I have a hard time following your reasoning here. The fault may be on my end though. The AH is there for everyone. As is the possibility to earn gold in game. RMAH is excluded in my world, so "pay to win" should not include "trade to win". I trade gold I find for my items.
Instead of raw functionality? Ehm, the stats I'm looking for (pvp dummy) is exactly that. It's a stat that considers DPS and eHP and to my knowledge it is by doing this you can see the most "balanced" characters. If anything pvp dummy is the best indication on "raw functionality" there is. If you are trying to say that people only focusing on DPS, and neglecting eHP, "are doing it wrong" then yes: I agree. That would be an unhealthy way to go if you want to play end game effectively. There are more than one friend on my friends list that got a few pointers on how to gear when I mentioned pvp dummy ranking. They had blindly gone for DPS earlier. So some good things can surely come from this list.
And the last paragraph is...not comprehensible to me. Are you saying I should stop improving my DPS and try to earn cash? Why on earth would I mix money into the game? That's the path to the dark side Games are for fun, not for profits.
And sorry if I totally misread you. You come off as a bit miffed, but if that's not intended I do apologize. English is not my native tongue and I tend to misunderstand.
I dunno, Diablo is as much a monster-smashing game as it is one to boast and gloat about the prowess of your character. And DiabloProgress is an easy way to show off your character to the world without asking people in game to check your profile.
It's not a poison. It's only a poison if you let it affect you that way, or "force" you to act a certain way.
If anything else, it helps people locate the top gear in the world and compare themselves side by side with alternately built characters. You can learn a thing or two.
As for OP, I don't know. There are a few out there, but last I checked, they weren't nearly as extensive.

That from the guy who preaches self control in the AH-thread. Nice double standarts ^^
