I stopped playing some time after 1.0.5 was released and tried to follow whats been going on since then but I'm not sure I got the picture right.
In fact I stopped playing because the game itemization was ridiculous. I mean by 1.0.5 legendaries were not necessarily great and never dropped once for me in about 60 hours. But the most shocking thing was you had to pick up every single ilvl 63 rares and those dropped way too often and were mostly crap (due to the extended range of possibilities).
Question 1- From what I saw they made it so now every single rare dropping starting in MP1 has the potential to be as good as ilvl 63? So you have even more rares to pick up (and throw away)?
Question 2- Did they finnally reduce the stats range you get on rares, so that there is less crap to loot?
Question 3- The question resuming everything, is it finnaly expectable to or does it looks like 1.0.8+ might make it possible to self-find your gear at a reasonable pace?
1 - Yes, all stats on items roll based on monster level, and this is always 63 on MP1+ (and 63 in act3+4 even on MP0). But you don't have to pick up rares, since there's plenty of good legendaries for each slot. If you play self-found though, you want to pick up everything, I guess. With 1.07 they introduced crafting recipes; bracers+chest are somewhat me (depending on class), while shoulders, amulet, and gloves are BiS items, so you don't need to pick these up.
2 - Not yet.
3 - For the slots with new added crafting recipes: maybe. For the others: no.
The itemization changes won't come with 1.08 yet, but once they're added to the game (1.09? Expansion?) you will see less rares, they are more useful, and self-found will be awesome.
"Amish" style gear farming is their main focus as of now. They haven't made a ton of headway in that regard yet, the only change thus far being the new crafting recipes which are rather good - but only for a handful of slots. The itemization blog goes over their plans in that regard. They mention in vague terms some of the fixes they have in mind:
- Make rares(and maybe legendaries) drop less often with higher quality
- More goldsinks outside the AH, like potentially rerolling affixes
- Improve the chances of drops being good for your class
Hopefully the Q&A answers next week will reveal more info about the specifics, though it's not set in stone yet and not going to be in for 1.0.8.
Thanks a lot for the replies, it does look good for the upcoming patches. I might install this week so I can start at least getting a decent gear to ready up farming lower MPs.
While going over the B.Net character profiles I saw that a lot of legendaries/set (loot not crafted ones) are now account bound. When was that introduced and how does it work?
Just to clarify, it's the Marquise Gem itself that account bound. As soon as you insert it into an empty socket of an item, said item will get account bound, too. You can remove the gem from the socket (pretty expensive, 5m gold - but it's expensive to craft anyways, ~120m overall cost), at which point the item will lose its account bound status. Then you can trade it again.

Q2 no
Q3 yes because they added account bound crafting which is pretty strong.
