Identifying in bulk eliminates the point of identifying in the first place IMO. If a 1 second cast time is still too long they can just make it instant.
I'm with you. Just finished a 3hrs farm run and spend roughly 5mins with ID'ing. Doesn't sound much? But it's a waste of time. GIEEEEEEEEEEF BACK DECARD for instant ID'ing the whole inv <3
Don't even need Decard, although it would be awsome if they could have his ghost show up for id purposes, lol. I don't see why the BS can't id everything. Problem solved!
The real problem is that they killed Cain, and now nobody can identify your entire inventory at once. Seriously, did these guys not play D2? What was more convenient than going into town, talking to Cain and voilá, everything's ID'd ??
Oh, and obviously, it's gone from "I hope it's a godly item" to "I hope it's not absolute crap".

IDing is part of the diablo charm, I'm glad they haven't added an ID all button, people are so stressed playing this game it seems, they don't even have 1 second to spare.
Nope, we don't. There's absolutely no intelligence into IDing. It's a completely boring act that even a monkey, not to mention a bot, can do. Even 1 second is 1 second too much IMO, but obviously a big improvement.
I can't say I really see much point in it. The exciting part is when you see yellow/green/orange clatter to the ground. If they really want to keep it I'd say just apply it to legendaries.
In Diablo 2 Cain would identify all items on you. They need to have a NPC do it. Problem solved.
Why visit an NPC at all? And if you had an NPC then what if I want to ID items without a trip to town? Bring back ID scrolls? Freaking waste of inventory space... no thank you.
let an NPC identify it all instantly and keep the current system with 1sec to identify ..
you like the current system? it will be here
you want to ID instantly? it will be here
everyone is happy now ...
some need to stop looking only for yourself, the idea of making it instantly is good, if you dont like just use the current system, just like we have AH, some like some never use ...
I really hate that loading to identify, the only fun of unidentified items were uniques/legendaries that you would like to roll perfect affixes from the range or trade it unid ... nothing else ... no time lost on waiting the blue bar
Agree with the OP. For me i would like:
- Rares insta identify, with some npc to identify all of them.
- Legendaries are fine with the patch. Those seconds are very exciting, hoping for the perfect roll!!
It's what's inside the package and the number of packages.
Sure, identifying 5rares/elite, when only 1 in a thousand is coherent ( I didn't say sellable, or even an upgrade, juste coherent and useable) is not only a wast of time, it's depressing.
There needs to be way less item drops for a better ratio of decent items.
I wouldn't mind finding only one rare per 3 elites if it rolled less random and more interesting stats. I wouldn't mind spending two seconds identifying it if there was something to be excited about during those two seconds.
That's exactly what's happening in 1.0.5 with the ilvl changes. Basically everything you find will be effectively ilvl63. And higher MF will make them more likely to roll 6 affixes and thus more likely to be usable.
While we are at it why not make the gem combining less annoying? Talk about time consuming to upgrade gems! If I have all the mats and all the money I need, why the eff can't the combination just be one damn click?!
1 sec or 0 sec - what's the point? if rares are picked up for ~1500g vendor price, even the 1 sec is a waste of time.
when 1.05 FINALLY become official, it will still be waste of time - less, but still unneeded
of course i'll look items before vendoring them, but that still doesn't explain the need for identifying them
point being d3 should be better than d2 in matter of doing tedious tasks, and removal of time for identifying rares (or low grade legendaries, for that matter) would improve the gameplay experience
It seems to take 2-3 seconds to identify a single item. By now, many of us have wasted HOURS in "the void" of waiting there, patiently, for it to be identified. Most rares, as many have discussed; are complete junk. Why not allow for us to ID the junk faster so that we can merc it??? PLEASE fix this ASAP. I understand that your initial intention with the concept was because you felt the few second wait is an "anticipation" of something great to come. Well, the truth is, we are over it. We have next to no expectation what so ever that the item we are identifying is going to be halfway decent. I'm not asking for better loot, i'm asking to get rid of this annoying process of time it takes to ID an item. A few ideas: Hold SHIFT and right click, identifies entire inventory. Allow for craftsman to have a ID inventory button. OR just make it be instant! Like in D2, only no scrolls. PLEASE HELP, a friend of mine joked the other day that he is about to stop piking up rares altogether. LOL LOL LOL
"Please fix this ASAP".....
Do you think these are official diablo 3 forums or something? Post that shit on the actual Blizzard diablo forums if you want it seen by anyone that can actually do anything about it.
Personally I think crying about IDing items is childish and ignorant though. I mean, FFS, is the few seconds it takes to ID an item is so damn bad for you then you have some pretty serious mental health issues buddy. IDing an item takes almost no time, and if that almost no time is such a bother for you to get back to your endless item hunting grind you obviously have put too much emphasis on a GAME in your life. It may be time to take a step back and look at how important this GAME is to you. Its pretty scary.
It would probably take the programmer about 2 mins to insert a code line that added an "ID ALL" button on the corner of your inventory screen.
Then about 2 hours four the lazy asses of quality to test it out.
When we opened the launcher that change would prolly be downloaded instantly...
But then again, looks like a lot of work need to be put into it, so lets all wait for it in the next big patch....or after pvp.
Best case scenario, ID all button and a VENDOR FOLLOWER, that would be sweet!
Seriously though, no one likes the vendor follower idea?
They had this in the beta actually (an item that lets you break stuff down and the artisans followed you around I believe).
Anyway, I think it will be needed with the changes in 1.0.5. When you get 4-5 rares per elite pack... you'll be filling up your inventory in about 5 minutes. It's not fun to return to town every 5 minutes. It wasn't a problem before because most people only picked up 63s. Imagine picking up 10 times (the 63 rate is around 8% right?) the amount of loot while you farm.

Boom!

The identify option is a legacy of Diablo and Diablo 2, it has nothing to do with MMOs. In fact in previous Diablos you even had to ID MAGICAL items!

Actually they didn't. That was Blizzard North. Diablo III is 3 only in name, it's really the first game this group has made.

Another gold sink and a choice to make... I'm just kidding, I just want Deckard back as well
And maybe, add a loading bar for legendaries, anyway, they almost don't drop so who cares
