I've done a bunch of runs for about seven hours - all of them on servers with an even number and below 100. Nothing. Not a set item, not a legendary, maybe 2 or 3 rares that should sell for 200k or so a piece.
When I read that people are finding legendary items, set pieces on a semi-regular basis - meaning THEY FIND THEM - I'm just done with this aweful game. Please, save the RNG crap. If you can't open your eyes to the fact that there are hidden weights and controls to who gets loot and who doesn't, than enjoy you apparently good standing and call it lucky RNG. Whatever. You'll enjoy this shit-tastic game. I'm done with it for now.
Like so many disenfranchised players of this crapfest of a game, they will read the patch notes and get lured back in, and hopefully not repeat the same shit-storm of boring, unrewarding gameplay.
I'm so pissed that I've invested so much time, money and energy into this game. And by money I mean buying the collectors edition and being stoked for 3 years for this game to come out to have such a pathetic excuse of a game served to us.
GG.
Well i m with you on this one, however, I still play the game, just to flip stuff on AH, AND THAT IS THE ONLY WAY U CAN GET UPGRADE.
farming act 3, is a mono tone un-rewarding experience that i fall asleep doing it, its the same thing everytime repetitive, all loots are still vendor trash, i still play this game, rather leveling hardcore character knowing that it will die someday than farming that broken inferno slot machine, I probably keep playing this game, like flipping the AH, and try this loot server out tonight, see if it will change my d3 experience, and WAIT FOR TORUCHLIGHT 2 TO RELEASE ON SEPT 20.
I am somewhat believed in seeding and randomness, since back then in wow, the guild that have the same seeding every week, will see same lootz every time, there is never truly randomness in computer science, refer to the following MIT article.
there is no such thing as random in computer science. you kids need to go back to school.
by saying this, I believe he meant that loots are deterministic, and i think he meant there is no truly random number
pseudo random number means, that the number with same seeding and algorithm will always be the same when u roll, for instance, in world of warcraft, if u have the same person seeding the instance at a particular time, the loot tables will resemble very closely to the raidlock of the previous week
another real life example, in 1.03, i have inna's glory drop for me the same place, in the same day of the week, however the rolls are different, there must be some environmental variable that triggers this piece of loot to spawn in the same place
Doesn't have much to do with this thread. There's a difference between not having truly random numbers and completely messing up the (pseudo) random number generator such that it only throws good loot on specific servers.
Unless you elaborate on how the pseudo random numbers would cause some servers to have better loot, you might as well go educate people elsewhere.
Well said.
If you were to look at, for instance, the allegations of completely identical rares dropping twice in quick succession (I'm sure we've all seen screenshots of these), that's exactly the sort of bug that I would expect to manifest as a result of someone messing up the pseuo-random-number generator. Accidentally randomize two items from the same seed, and boom, there you go.
But "some servers drop more legendaries than others"? Please. That's really not the symptom of a busted random seed. That's the symptom of an easter egg planted deliberately by the devs.
Don't know about if it's an Egg or something else, but the truth that it's a phenomenon that's real it's a fact.
Like 80% of the ppl i asked to test and wrote in the topics i have made over the internet have found a legendary there is still that 20% that can't find.
But I found it to be in a different way, can be luck or bullshit but I was playing with a friend and found 2 legendaries in one game, and him found 1 on this game, sadly but 2 of them was a bullshit tower shield, and a sunkeeper...
So I was farming other day in act3 and found ik gloves from a goblin, following my theory that game server drops exists I continued to farm every place on this game and found a sunkeeper in the same game...
In fact my theory was, if you find a set or legendary, then dont leave game until you clear every place on the same game, % of drop legendaries and sets is better, always thought it was bullshit but it worked...
But now, looking at IP servers makes more sense to my theory, thanks OP =)

http://engineering.mit.edu/live/news/1753-can-a-computer-generate-a-truly-random-number
Random randomGenerator = new Random();
int randomInt = randomGenerator.nextInt();
this number only a pseudo random number, and if you have same seeding and algorithm, the next value will always be the same
ever heard of seeding the raid instance in WoW?

I really hope you have a broken shift key, otherwise the irony of that post could reach dangerous levels.
it should have been "there is no such thing as TRULY random in computer science"
Well said.

*p.s.
80 % is around 300 ppl or more.
3 men group, 1 set item, IK set boot, my friend got it though
1st run 12.130.247.50:1119
found a inna's belt (althought i already have one), could be pure luck whos know
gonna get some statistic done here, with 5 runs of 2 digits runs vs above ip 98 room.
2nd run 12.130.246.246:1119
found a ilvl52 legendaries off a goblin lol? got me excited, i thought it was a windforce damn...
TBC
second try, 18, solo full clear, nothing
my friend ran on 16, got his first legendary today ever since 1.04 comes alive
But I found it to be in a different way, can be luck or bullshit but I was playing with a friend and found 2 legendaries in one game, and him found 1 on this game, sadly but 2 of them was a bullshit tower shield, and a sunkeeper...
