Blizz said the time spent to reach Paragon level 100 should be roughly equivalant to reaching level 99 in Diablo 2. But seeing that people got to Paragon 100 as fast as they did, I think that's wrong.
Getting 99 in D2 took EONS! You could be farming Hell Cow Level for a WHOLE day, and only go from level 77-78... And that was as an op Sorc.
Blizz needs to either make Paragon exp more, or give us another 100 Paragon levels!
Because it's not fun, unless there is an impossible goal to strive towards for years.

For the average player Paragon will easily take several months to complete. I myself am only lvl 24, and I play more regularly then most. You can't judge the many by the few. It's taken me this long to get to 24, and it hasn't even gotten hard yet. The people blowing through are just doing whatever they can to hit it first, Leorics Signet being a huge thing, as well as some people actually farming Hell Act 3 wearing Cains set (another 30% bonus exp). I think what is up now is a great start till a deeper end game solution can be added, ala endless dungeons and of course PVP.
It's all in how you play, and if hitting 100 ASAP is your thing, you will have to pour countless hours into doing it. If you are that bored, suffer through doing it on a second, and heck even third toon.
TLDR: I think its tuned well for most of the player base, of course there are always exceptions to this rule.
Every game there's always one person who stops doing everything else to get to max level the fastest they can. Hell even in warcraft they added achievements in for that purpose for the first max level on that server.
You can't judge the system based off one guy. He was extreme. He most likely doesn't have a job and lived at home thus he could do what he did without serious consequences.
One guy... who looks like he hasn't stepped outside into the sun for years... playing non-stop. Who cares? I'm at level 9... gonna be a long time before I hit 100. That's fine with me. What level are you at that makes you feel as if it is going too fast?
What I miss from good old D2 is the experience lost when you died... I had a level 99 amazon, which I'd say took me 3 months at maybe 2-3hrs a day, And yes, it hurt dying and losing 10% of your exp... so the only true meter is HC paragon level 100...
Time investment and degree of difficulty are two completely different ideas. Getting P100 is/will not be hard by any stretch but it is very time consuming. It's a system designed to reward people for actually playing, which I know, is a completely out there and off the wall concept.
The "impossible concept" thing is also not an absolute. What may be impossible for one person is entirely possible for another. By your own admission at the rate you play you will never get P40+ so this sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
I'd be too scared out of my mind to ever consider even stepping foot into Inferno on a Hardcore character...
One nasty pack of Arcane Enchanted + Waller/Jailer, and it's goodbye hours of your life >_<

My good sir, you speak great wisdom... I realize the error of my thinking now. xD
I was wondering how long it would be before this topic came up ... for the record I am at paragon 25 and I play this game quite a bit but then again I am item farming at the same time.
Really, one guy gets it done probably grinding 16+ hours a day and solely concentrating on lvl paragon and all of a sudden it is too easy? Most people are never going to get too 100 because they will quit from the tedium of it.

Paragon 100 should be faster, right now all it does is sell more ruby gems, not that I mind farming Act 1 and making Ruby Stars for the gold auction house

But yeah, at the rate I play, I'll probably never get beyond Paragon 40 xD
Keep in mind that the people that "beat" it before all the nerfs aside from 1-2 legit kills, were all exploit kills. :\
