I haven't run Act IV in a week or so and was running it tonight for some video footage. All I can say is, one of three things has happened:
1) Pack density has increased and I missed a post where they announced it.
2) Pack density has increased and they didn't announce it
2) Nothing has changed and I had one of the most uncanny runs ever -- there were packs everywhere.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen the same. I'm going to run it again and see I get double jeopardy -- if I do the probability starts to get very, very likely that there's been a change. I'm actually hopeful -- Act IV hasn't made sense to run and that is a shame -- we shouldn't be stuck running only Act III.
I'll update after next run but would be good for some others to check to get a larger sampling of experience.
EDIT 1: May be option 3: most uncanny Act IV run ever. 2nd run: only 11 packs. Going back to look at video footage and count first run packs -- I believe it was at least 15 packs.
EDIT 2: went back and counted all of them -- was 14 packs and a goblin. Seemed like more -- still a crazy run. I've never seen that many in all of my prior Act IV clears. It also does beg the question though -- if Blizz consistently stacked 15 packs into the tight confines of Act IV, would you run it?

15 is still really low compared to Act 3.
Here's what they need to do: Make you keep your stacks when going from Act 3-4. Bam... people will do Act 4 after doing their Act 3 run.
I still notice a decent increase in elemental damage going from Act 3 to Act 4, meaning I'd have to stack more resists and armor to survive at the expense of DPS. In that sense, it wouldn't make sense to do Act 4. Also, the enemy types in Act 4 suck for the most part.

Agree with you there -- still can't figure why they do it. I suppose it may be a technical / coding thing where starting an Act is the same as starting a new session but that hardly sounds insurmountable. End game farming one Act only doesn't seem good design.
