You are prolly right. Why i ask because when they said they will buff legendary items, only newly spawned items will be affected they said.
They will nerf items that have those IAS values now. The issue is that it is too powerful, if they only changed items that drop from now, it would not change the fact that it is insanely powerful on all current items.
Man i got 3.2 APS barb and it's absolutely not too powerful. Life on hit will be super nerfed imo after this IAS nerf as well imo, because Loh depends on your speed.
But you might not need so much LoH anymore cos incoming mob damage is being reduced. See how it works?
Oh wow... talk about totally destroying item prices with IAS. People who spend mils of gold on expensive IAS gear are totally and utter screwed by this.

Time to just stack up on Crit chance and Crit damage for every class. They will nerf that in 1.1 probably, so just ride the flavor of the month. Apparently this is an MMO where constant "balance" changes occur.
I don't get why they would want to nerf ias on weapons
Because everybody is using it, and doing it will just cause more things to happen in the RMAH.
Ideally such nerfs (or buffs) should constantly happen every month to force people to buy and sell more gear.
Blizzard CANNOT hit balance. WoW proved that to me. As long as they expect anything they'll never be content and won't fix anything, they just love to shift balance by nerfing things to death.

No, the game is barely a month old and is a complex thing to balance. Get that sand out of your vagina boi.
Really? They are already nerfing IAS barely a month into the game and why? Because it is used by everyone. So now everyone drops IAS and say picks up Crit chance and damage. So what will happen a month into that? Oh...IDK...maybe a nerf? They will never be satisfied with the game or how it is played because the mass majority do not play the game as Blizzard believes people should or do and when that happens, they nerf shit to try and force you to play how they want. It isn't about playing how you want in Diablo anymore, it is about playing how Jay Wilson deems right.
"We make that as a joke. We'll say, ‘You're a bad designer if you tell your customer that you're playing the game wrong.' It's actually the customer's game. We should do our best to enable that experience. If someone is playing the game and they're not having a good time and it's because they're not playing it right, that's our fault."

Except all of you are neglecting to remember that all this really does is encourage you to have IAS on more items in order to keep a good attack speed, if that's one facet of your build.

As opposed to what? Diablo 2 where they never made balance changes?
Oh wait, virtually every single Diablo 2 patch had balance changes which, more often than not, screwed someones existing build requiring you to restart characters...
The best utility stat in the game was also the best damage stat in the game. It's that simple. Attack Speed was better than DEX. It was better than crit. It was better than stacking crit damage AND crit. It was better than EVERYTHING. Assuming you did happen to do one of those other things - stacking dex or stacking crit - and then you wanted another stat on your gear, guess what - IAS was CLEARLY the best thing to do then.
It synergized with EVERYTHING all the time. There was no build in the game that wasn't improved with massive amounts of IAS - even the intentionally slow as hell two hander builds needed it - in fact they needed it even more because of the cast animation benefits. Nearly every single spec for every single class wanted a fuckton of IAS, or at the very least, was damn happy when their gear happened to have it.
It has gotten to the point where if we took two identical rings, except one has IAS and the other doesn't, the IAS ring is worth ten or twenty times as much. I don't even LOOK at the stats on my gloves unless I see crit/crit damage OR IAS, and even the awesome synergy of crit + crit damage is nowhere near as good as just rolling 15% IAS.
The problem with IAS was that it was too damn good, and we all knew it. One of the biggest sources of damage increase in the game should not also have been one of the best sources of utility for everyone, and we all knew that too.
This has been coming since we all realized how amazing aspd was.
Bolded part is not true at all. With 330% crit dmg as a DH (80% socket, 96% weapon, 50% from wearing a crossbow, along with some on neck etc), IAS is/were worth 515 dps per point for me, and crit is/were worth 1300+ dps per point. That value will only go up if you stack more crit dmg, and quite significantly so. So basicly, as gloves can have 9% or so crit, a 9% crit glove would be much prefered to a 17% IAS glove to me.
All in all, it just means that I've sold off my Beckon Sail and Boj's anglers, and are going to get my hands on some sweet natalya's gear to get the 7% crit chance from 2 set, and possibly the 130 dex from 3 set if I can find a ring with Crit/crit dmg. Expecting I'll be having +400% crit dmg and +40% crit chance when I'm done gearing ^_^.
Keep in mind they don't actually have to change the items to nerf IAS. They can go about it two ways:
1) They can nerf the effect server-side and not touch items
OR
2) Change what drops from 1.0.3 on, and just tell the server not to recognize more than X% of IAS on an item, no matter what the real value is; i.e. cap it on a per-item and a total basis. And still not crawl the DBs to touch the items.
3) Also, crawling the DBs to change *one* stat is easier than crawling it to change all legendaries, if they go that way.

IAS could use a small tweak, but 50%? That's way too much considering the amount of gold and real money people have spent on the items that have IAS. I just wonder how the hell they didn't foresee this being a problem during internal testing? How off was their formula..

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.

if an item gets wonderful stat selection and happens to also have IAS it's not like people will vendor it

didnt they say a DH nerf was coming soon?
