65 hours is more time than a lot of my games get. I don't understand why they refunded your money.
It was a hopeful grind, I was trying my best to be optimistic that it will get better and enjoy the game. Unfortunately that never happened. Besides, like I wrote, I lost items on the AH due to the idiotic bugs, too laggy etc. But that was just technical things, I'm sure you'll understand why I REALLY don't like it. Anyways, I thank Diablo 2/LOD for good teenage memories, it was a simpler time.
I think he actually means, that you got your money worth in playtime yet they refunded it, even if you did not enjoy it fully.. Basically you got everything, they got nothing. It is pretty generous, considering they know a lot about your playing habits through Battle.net.
So why did they release it so unfinished, why was it necessary? You're pretty much justifying my refund request.
I believe the fans had been pushed back so far, that perhaps it was a gamble of sorts on the part of Blizzard to release this creature before knowing fully how it would behave? Personally I believe that this game has so many tentacles, it needed to be released for Blizz to learn all they needed to know in order to take it to where it needed to go.
It's not like I'm trying to talk you into liking a game that you clearly do not like. Only, I wish to not let others become discouraged by a product that needs further attention. This game wasn't sold "as is". You were sold an infrastructure to something that Blizzard wishes to build upon until it matches the extraordinary longevity of it's predecessor, D2.
It boggles me....did people really think it was possible to match D2's greatness of re-playability and content with an initial release? Have people really become this jaded that they demand perfection, that they demand D3 accomplish what D2 did not? That is...perfection right out of the box on launch day? All I can say to those people is "FUCK YOU".
The system is fundamentally messed up. To fix it, they have to rework the whole skill and stat system to even bring it close to Diablo 2's level, which let you choose a shitton of builds for the end game that took effort and strategy to realize, which was actually fun. And they won't do that, it's impractical.
More misguided romanticism about D2?
Fact;
D2's skills were funneled into a handful of cookie cutter builds that became as commonplace and repetitive as the rune-worded gear they sported.
A "shit-ton of builds"? How many ways to make a smiter, a Hammer, a bliz sorc? How many melee sorcs did you see winning any duels? How many ways to make a sin that actually fucking worked for anything but a hearty "lol"?
As great as D2 was, it had become funneled into a corner, the gear, the builds....cookie cutter madness. The initial design of D3 shows us some issues. But it also shows us that Blizzard intends to avoid the pitfalls of monotony that we saw with D2.
I think people had unreasonable expectations when it came to D3, very, very very, very unreasonable.
Gz on your refund though, you are definitively NOT the only one disappointed in D3.
Do yourself a huge favor. Just install D2 without any patches, play the game through to the end of Hell ... not quite as you remembered, is it? Now, go and install LoD and patch up to the latest version ... what an improvement, right?
People are so unrealistically blinded, or rather, time made their memories jaded. To anyone who thinks, 'ugh, this isn't the D3 I wanted, D2 was so much awesomer...' play D2 without any updates, you'll be shocked.
And once you've come back down to planet Earth, you'll also realize how much D3 will improve from here on.
God damn. Game is fine, it's plenty of fun, for new players and older players which is 100% what the goal was. They shouldn't give any refunds. Especially with over 60 hours logged. You'd be lucky to get that many hours from any game.
Far too many whiny gamers who also happen to be very vocal about it.
A group of people wanted diablo 2: LOD remade, didn't get it and are now crying about it. And making sure everyone else knows just much this game doesnt live up to D2 you guys! A game that had years and years and patches and oh hey an expansion.
D3 is a different team, a different direction. They want to build something NEW. Doing the same thing over and over would make your overall skill deteriorate. I love the game and have been playing non stop since release, with several friends. I've quit other games to play this more. The team accomplished what they wanted, and I'm sure they're pleased with the results. If you don't like the game just stop playing it, don't post on forums related to it. Just go away, far away. Like most normal people who don't like things do.
Some people just won't be happy with anything.

Same with it being online, its online for a reason - to stop hacks and dupes.
Got my refund on the the digital purchase of D3. The customer service was actually very nice and it's a +1 to them. Haven't played D3 in a week now, didn't even want to log on really since then. Unfortunately they ruined Diablo franchise for ME RIP
Btw, I had 65 hours clocked in on my barb, inferno and it was no problem. Just be really nice to them, that's all. I made my purchase on May 12th, so you still can get a refund guys.
Congratulations. I'm happy you'll be using $60 on something more important.

And to the poster above, it's entirely possible to get more than 60 hours of gametime from a multiplayer game. Most of them are free-to-play too. Just because some people can get more than 60 hours from a non-Blizzard game doesn't mean you should get butthurt about it. Some people just refuse to deal with bugs and poor account security. That doesn't make them whiny bitches for wanting a perfectly legal refund. It just makes them smart consumers.
Also, talking about how players (or even devs) shouldn't be "doing the same thing over and over or their skills will deteriorate" is pretty asinine. Blizzard made their money and will keep making it with the RMAH, whenever the hell that's coming out. Blizzard achieved their goal, but that doesn't mean this guy should not get a refund.

You know, I can't understand this sort of attitude. You're not the worst them, and what I'm about to say isn't focussing on you, but some people who use the forums these days just make me loose what little faith I have in humanity.
It's like they think they get to be one of the cool kids if they come on here to rip on D3, like some of these disgruntled players believe they are part of some sort of upper class, while scoffing at us plebs who actually find enjoyment in this game. No, we aren't stupid for not thinking the way you people do, we're just not as blind and don't share your unrealistic expectations.
I'm getting rather tired of this. No, you lot aren't being supportive, and some behavior you people display doesn't show you want this game to improve. When you belch out stuff like 'I spent my money on this game, so I have the right to mope wherever I want', or 'I loved D2 so many years ago and now they killed my most beloved pet, fix it now'.
To all these people, please get a refund, go play D2, and leave the rest of us alone. It doesn't make you special if you come here to pick on people who really think Blizzard did a good job, it just makes you an ass.
You played a game for 65 hours and then refunded it...? Geez... I mean I play most new games for perhaps 10 hours up to a maximum of 30 hours, doesn't really matter if you didn't enjoy the product you still fully took advantage and finished the game 3 times over...
Lucky everyone's not like you because then there wouldn't be any gaming industry today with people completing the games and then refunding them.

On the other hand, it was Blizz that decided it was a good idea to bash on the ME 3 debacle. Refuse to grant refunds if people feel your product is lacking and a keen customer might come and take your reference to bite you back in the ass..
I mean...i can understand the point you are going with. You liked Diablo II,and you wanted Diablo III to look like Diablo II.Because it didn't ,because it changed something (for god sake how could they?),you wanted your money back. But you had to "test" it first, for 65 FUCKING HOURS,and then you realized, that this game doesn't look like Diablo II?
Wait a minute.I actually...don't get it.I feel sorry for Blizzard, because they have to put up with this type of crap.Enjoy your 60$,at least spend them on food or clothing, and stop buying games.

Being a fanboy, doesn't really help your case. I bought the game, have 52 hours or so of /played and won't get a refund. But I can remember clearly when it got boring. Act 2, nightmare. I can't really put my finger on it, but that was the moment I lost all the will to play. And mind you, I got in at 00:25 launch night. Played 'till morning. I was INCREDIBLY excited for this game.
Even so, I still play it for like 25-30 minutes once every 2 days or so. But for me, honestly, it's just not that fun.
OP is sure a hypocrite and doing this for show, otherwhise he wouldn't be posting and replying this to a DIABLO FANS forum.
I wonder how many games he bought, played for 10 hours, didn't like, didn't play again and did not even think of getting a refund. So Diablo III is elected to refund just because the predecessor was good? That's not a good way to support a company that makes good games.
Even if it wasn't just because OP is whiny and didn't remember D2 as it really was, D3 could never be classified as a shitty game. It is at least a very good game and if it was released by another company with another title everyone would be like ""THE GREATEST ARPG SINCE D2!!!!", "THIS GAME REALLY OUTPERFORMS D2!", "A VERY MODERN DIABLO STYLE GAME.".
Good luck to every liar saying that they stopped playing D3 to play D2:
- Researching for hours before making you char to know which perfect build you will choose.
- Trying desperately to get any loot in boss kills in public games before the quicker ones get them.
- Stopping for about 30 minutes to choose a game named "Killing Mephisto" and leaving after you find out that they already did before you join.
- Having attribute points to stack in vitality only.
- Spend hours and hours in trade forums trying to get an item to win Hell (which is absolutely impossible with most gear just like Inferno) or making "WTB item" "WTS item" and waiting for someone to join. Maybe even entering those trading games when anyone who got items you wanted didn't care for yours and the ones that wanted offered you 10 +1 max damage axes for your Occy.
- Also researching in forums the exact gear you should have to pursue (which runewords) that make you as an amazon make battlecries and a barbarian teleport. As this is the only way to beat Hell again.
- Trading again, because you will NEVER get runewords on your on with the drops and duped items makes trading mandatory and the game easy (this feels familiar somehow).
When I tired of playing D2 because of the incredibly low drop rates, the duped items and so on, I started remebering how D1 was perfect. So I installed it and played it, guess what? It didin't have even a function to keep attacking when you held the mouse button! The character walked slow as hell, making the game annoying when you had to walk big places. The butcher was impossible to kill without the "corridor with iron bar walls and a bow" strategy. Every level is the same with just a stair to get below.
Stop being whiny spoiled hypocrite children and rate the game for what it is and not what you had in mind and didn't get it. D2 DID NOT have a more successful launch, the difference is that nowaday everyone is connected, registered in a forum and trolls have years of experience in trolling. If you have a 1/1000 rate in which players found the game terrible, every 7000 player that found that is spamming in forums right now and in D2 10 years ago they were home crying alone because their mother didn't buy them a Playstation instead of this game.
I have been registered with curse since it came out. My post count is low because I had nothing to say until the straw broke the camels back which happened to be your post. I'm sooo sick of reading trash like yours. Unlike you I don't feel the need to verbalize every thought that pops into my head. I also don't feel that Blizzard or anyone for that matter is responsible for my own decisions. Truthfully, you embarass me with your pathetic complaining about a 60 dollar game. I've bought and played every Blizzard game made and if that makes me a fan man then I can live with that. Blizzard is one of the finest up standing companies that support their customers for years after the purchase. You go ahead and buy your 25 dollar bargain bin game or go play your Xbox, we'll be fine without you.
And to actually post a screen of the email.....what with that... do you figure your some kind of corperate slayer?
I wasn't even active on here during the beta and how would you know being registered today?
Because people can't lurk for a while before they make an account.
I wouldn't take it personally anyways, people hate complainers as much as you (apparently) hated D3.
You can even look at my history. I maybe made like one post at best somewhere and it wasn't even about 'hating'.
Every post I've *ever* seen from you was whining about something. Please go away. You've got your refund. Shut up, please. You're worse than a bunch of teenage girls.
Got my refund on the the digital purchase of D3. The customer service was actually very nice and it's a +1 to them. Haven't played D3 in a week now, didn't even want to log on really since then. Unfortunately they ruined Diablo franchise for ME RIP

Those that are still enjoying the game, more power to you! And now back to DayZ
Seriously? you played/enjoyed a game for 65 hours (which is more then most people get out of games), and then had the nerve to ask for a refund?
Thank you for reassuring my faith in the common gamer. So many gamers these days would rather troll, be upset and rage at gaming companies.. merely because they don't enjoy the product after it was hyped up by so many other gamers.
They fail to realize that games are purely opinion based. Just because I like Game A and dislike Game B, does not mean that my best friend of 17 years will like Game A and dislike Game B... it's usually quite the opposite actually.
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the latest addition to the Diablo franchise, but am glad that Blizzard found it in their heart to refund your hard earned money.
Cheers! and I hope you find that game you're seeking soon!
-Majeye
For starters, this is absurd, you certainly didn't deserve a refund after that many hours played.
Based on the statements you also put in the message to blizzard about the game being 'unplayable due to maintenance' and yet you've clocked 65h+ ? Poor show mister.
Diablo 3 doesn't suck. Everyone was expecting perfection, and you know what, there's a lot of little things, but overall, not comparing it to d2 directly, quite possibly the best ARPG made. Nostalgia is a bitch to get over though. 12 years from now, this will be one of THE teenage defining games, and when d4 comes out (if it does), everyone would say d3 was better, even if d4 is honestly better.
No it doesn't quite suck. It didn't live up to my personal expectations tho, I didn't quite expect perfection and in its current state, I'm not that impressed with it.
The legendaries are poor(Blizzard is working on it!)
The lack of a runesystem, which added a completely new layer to Diablo 2s customisation, is simply poor. The gems, while more indepth than in Diablo 2, doesn't even begin to make up for this.
Best ARPG ever made tho? No definitly not.
I've enjoyed quite afew ARPGs more than Diablo 3 so far, however as any sane person would understand it is not quite about time to give up on this game just yet.
Anyway heres a couple of truly good ARPGs that I've (so far) enjoyed more than diablo 3:
Titan quest: immortal throne
Nox
Torchlight
Diablo 2 + LoD
Now this is all about opinions, you might believe that Diablo 3 is the best ever made, but at the same time, until you provide a comparison between the other games in the genre you've played, you've just said you prefer the only game you played over a bucketload of great games you chose to ignore.
And mind you, I don't think D3 will last 12 years.
My personal opinion is that D3 is well on it's way to becoming an F'ing masterpiece. It's like some of these muthaf@ckers can't see the wood because of all these trees in the way.
rofl@go away/how can you leave with yourself posts.
irony going strong in d3 community by the look of things
Yeah, because it's just so much fun waiting a very long time for a game, finally getting to play it and finding it was well worth the wait since it reached all your expectations, then taking your excitement to the game's fan site to share your enjoyment with other players, but instead find a bunch of sour people who had unreasonable expectations, drowning out the others who also enjoyed the game to nitpick at very small details that are already being fixed.
Yeah, it's a real hoot...
My personal opinion is that D3 is well on it's way to becoming an F'ing masterpiece. It's like some of these muthaf@ckers can't see the wood because of all these trees in the way.
You nailed it. If people had just a little bit of foresight, they'd see the same thing.
And mind you, I don't think D3 will last 12 years.
Technically, one could say D2 lasted 12 years. However, for most it did not. Currently there are approx 23,000 people on D2 servers. There are probably about as many people playing classic Pac-Man right now.
I think most folks were done in late 2007-2008. I consider D2 to be the best RPG of all time, but I can see how D3 might own that spot before the dust clears. It's so terribly unfair that people expected D3 to match it's predecessors playability at launch. WTF is wrong with people these days?
If D2 had never been patched, fixed and expanded so drastically from it's launch form, it wouldn't have lasted 2 years.
I think he actually means, that you got your money worth in playtime yet they refunded it, even if you did not enjoy it fully.. Basically you got everything, they got nothing. It is pretty generous, considering they know a lot about your playing habits through Battle.net.

My personal opinion is that D3 is well on it's way to becoming an F'ing masterpiece. It's like some of these muthaf@ckers can't see the wood because of all these trees in the way.

Yeah, it's a real hoot...
You nailed it. If people had just a little bit of foresight, they'd see the same thing.
