We have to be selective, since a good chunk of the community has yet to reach a stage where shaving regularly is an imperative
I don't often make an issue of revealing my gender since it can garner unwelcome attention. Civil communities where you are treated with respect because you make constructive contributions (regardless of age/gender/orientation/whatever) don't usually care that I'm a woman anyway.
Of course, I'm also not a teenager, so I can interact without using my sex as an attention grabber.

I'm a woman
also
shaving regularly
videogames were invented by nerds with huge ass beards.
There's a difference between using my gender as an attention grabber and using it to contextualize my opinion.
I apologize if my mild jest toward the average barely-post-pubescent age rubbed you the wrong way. It wasn't intended as anything more than a joke.

I always let other gamers think I am a guy. Otherwise, they either call me a liar, call me fat and ugly, or start being vulgar and hitting on me. I play well enough that people compliment and friend me based on that, not because I have boobies, ya know? Then I can secretly enjoy the fact that some guy just told me I was "an awesome beast, dude" without knowing his ass just got saved by a girl.
your playing a female BARB and pretend your a boy? since female barb are ugly as hell, I usually assume that everyone of them are girls...

I just wanted to be different. And I've since changed my main to a male monk. So there. I also never said I "pretend" to be a boy, I said I allow people to think that I am if they make that assumption.

..that I'm a woman anyway.
Those 5 words do nothing but draw attention to your gender.
Pretty stupid thread. Especially since Diablo 3 is as afk-friendly as you can get. If a significant other walks into the room, You can just hit the esc key or hit leave game if you're in a group. Easy peasey.

Some people tell me I'm going to hell. I just let them know that I've already packed my bags!
yup. worst thread ever. the initial post was a joke. and it was hilarious. of course it turned into some pointless conversation about balancing your life, and whether girls can be gamers.
laugh a little people. not everything is serious.

Ermmm..... I play Diablo 3.
I actually got my boyfriend to play, not the other way around.
Plus I've been talking about it so much at work, I got a female co-worker to play. She games every day with her husband, and I game every day with my boyfriend.
I got another female co-worker to play Skyrim with me when that game came out.
I work at SBux, a predominately female place of business. I'm the biggest gamer in the store, but 60% of the females I work with also own at least 1 gaming console and play at least 2-5 times a week. (I probably play about 2-16 hours a day, depending on the day)
That avatar in the corner, That's me. I'm 100% girly gamer. Dresses, bows, pink and video games. There are a lot more girl gamers out there than you are all aware off... and we love gaming just as much (if not more) than Joe Schmoe next to us.

Fixed.
I'm not the one adding undue emphasis to a certain clause!
