Where has everyone found the best spots in Act 1 Inferno to farm?
Butcher?
Skeleton King?
Other?
Also, is everyone swapping to mf sets before kills? I've seen a lot of videos of people doing this.
I'm currently finally able to farm butcher easily, but I'm really not getting any good drops and I don't yet have the gear to progress into act 2 as a Barbarian. Let me know what you think is the best spot.
If you have the mf gear, no harm in making use of it.
The best runs I've found, have been a mix of the following:
The Cemetary of the Forsaken (Clear all 3, there's usually enough rares/ elites to get a 5 stack of valor, along with numerous chests, and at least one event.)
Then proceed to the Festering Woods. (The two caves always spawn an elite, and almost always have at least one chest. The Last Stand event is always present and is another elite, and there is usually a 4th elite roaming the zone, and possibly a 5th elite/rare. There is sometimes another event also.)
Next, Northern Highlands. (There should always be an elite or rare nearby the waypoint when you zone in. If you follow the western half of the zone, you will more often than not find a dungeon called the watchtower. It has at least one rare/ elite, and a resplendant chest, and is a small dungeon. It has a chance to spawn upwards of 6+ elites/ rares in that small dungeon too.)
Finally, go kill the butcher. Boss drops with a 5stack of valor are slightly higher than the rest of the zone, and without the 5 stack, they aren't worth killing anyways.
This route should have a really high rare/ elite density, with a low amount of searching. And numerous chests. The step that requires much searching, is killing the butcher, which can be skipped to make the run rather notably faster. Festering Woods is a relatively small zone, and everything is very near another event or dungeon, making it rather quick from the waypoint.
Have fun!
Edit: corrected to cemetary of the forsaken instead of royal crypts.
I start off heading to the jail and clear that area and rescue all the prisoners. Once the Warden spawns ill tp back to town and go to the crypts and kill off as many elites in there until I get a 5 stack of neph buff. Ill take the waypoint back then go back down my TP and kill the warden. I'll sprint past almost everything until I get to the Butcher and then i'll kill him and start over. You'll get the 2 boss kills so usually 5-6 rares, and around 10-15 blues, plus extras building up your neph stack.
If you run from Halls of Agony lvl.2 to the Butcher, you should encounter atleast 5 elite packs on the way to get max stacks of NV before you kill him. That's what I did (over and over and over) to get me gear and gold to be able to survive in A2.
Also, does swapping to MF gear right before the boss dies actually work? Or is the loot rolled the moment the boss/mob "spawns" so that it would be the other way around, ie equipping MF gear before the fight and switching back to normal asap and kill him?
That's what I've been doing. Just haven't had much luck it seems...
I don't know about the MF thing. I've seen a bunch of videos of people swapping gear though
There an excellent gold farming spot in Act 1 Royal Crypts, nets around 300k/hr in just gold, not including gems items tomes that drop so really its upwards of 400k/hr
Guide is a bit long to write here, map included
I can't touch a single rare or champ pack ATM. I noticed every1 doing the black smith q over n over while looking for random events. It isn't fun or productive/efficient but I don't see a better option it returns about 100-200k an hour. It's not bad but so boring. Can't do much else unless my friend is open to open me some hell pony runs.

Check out the gold farm spot above, you don't need any level 60 gear, since that spot does not require attacking of any mobs, it will be quite a significant increase in income for you
