Just copypasting this from my post that I made on the official forums.
TLDR: expressing my disappointment with the new "Battle.net" system compared to the old one used in D2
Remember in Diablo 2 when you were creating a multiplayer game you could choose a title for your session, and other people could see that title in the games list and join if they wanted to?
Well I was kinda shocked when I saw that it was completely removed with the new "Battle.net" and replaced with an entirely new system. It never really bothered me that much at first but now that I've cleared the entire game, the whole aspect of it is really disheartening. All you can do now is choose a quest and get mixed with random people in the process, hoping they want to do the same things you do.
What if I dont want to quest?
What if I just wanna chill or hang out with new people?
What if I want to farm some gear and do nephalem valor runs with randoms?
What if I wanna do whimsyshire?
-Join random public Act 1 quest
-"Hey guys wanna do whimsyshire?"
-"No, gtfo we're questing"
What if I want to do some trading / show off some gear / check out other people's gear?
All this stuff is impossible to do with the new system. I mean it's great when you're actually progressing through the content for the first time, but now that I've done all the quests on all the difficulties, sometimes I just sit at the main menu and think wtf am I supposed to do?
My first instinct is to go out and farm some gear, make some money, build a better character. Well how can I do this if all I can do is choose a damn quest in public games?!
So I say ok, I'll go out and farm some gear solo. WOW, this is REALLY boring. I wanna be running around out there with 3 other people, killing everything in our path and rejoicing over these awesome gear drops. I want to meet new people and make new friends that are interested in doing more than just quests.
So I plead to you Blizzard, please update D3 battle.net so that it was similar to D2 and we can create public games with titles. With this new system you seem to think that all people care about is doing quests. Well to me, the Diablo series is much more than that. It just feels like there is no endgame motivation to do anything once you've cleared all the content.
I've never felt so disconnected to other people in any online multiplayer game I've ever played before.
I don't even play public games. I have all my old D2 friends, two WoW guilds, a lot of them bought D3, and a meta-guild (multiple games, met them in Rift) to coop with, on my Btag friend list. I BS with them while playing, whether I'm coop with them at the time or not. Game's plenty social for me.
I love how the pubbie game's lack of socialization is supposedly Blizzard's fault, not the fault of the people who treat the others in pubbie games as robots put there for their playing pleasure, rather than as other people. That's the real issue.
Make some friends and play with them...or are you all a bunch of nerds w/o any? I'm definitely an IT geek, but I have tons of friends to play with.
Edit: I really hate the victim mentality, where it's always someone else's fault.

Well, seems to me most of your friends are friends you made from games where you could do exactly what OP wants, which is why it's so social for you. But if none of your friends are playing the game, what then?
I agree with OP. The new battle.net is a step back/in the wrong direction. Personally, I don't mind is so much myself as many of my friends are playing D3, but I don't see myself making many new friends here.
Also, victim mentality? I didn't really get that from him, just that he is missing some features that made the older games so much more awesome. Just getting randomly assigned to a group of people is not nearly as fun as finding a group yourself. Not to mention less social.
Also, I like how you consider yourself a geek, yet you phrase a bunch of nerds in a negative way. Contradiction much? Not to mention uncalled for.

Um, Rift and WoW, where I met most of them, both have the LFD that is being vilified here, so I'm not sure what you're on about.
Oh, and even at 3 am, I'll usually have 5-8 friends on. Make friends, instead of whining that you can't.
mavfin you've made your friends from MMO's, completely different system than D3. And you keep saying to "make friends" when the whole point of my post is that it's impossible to be matched with people who want to do things other than quests.
Agreed that there should be a way to make games for Whimsyshire runs. Should also be a way to make a sort of "free" game, where you can just be social, hang around, trade, etc.
Well I must say am missing the custom lobbies from D2 a bit myself, it's not a huge problem for me, but I would really like to see something similar in D3.

Ah, another person blaming someone/something else for their own problems. Let me know how that turns out.
