Done over 50 runs so far, takes me 25-35 mins per run with clearing every zone from Leoric's manor to the Chamber of suffering. Every run is approximately the same, loot wise. Got 1 legendary so far from a frigin' barrel. This is the kind of loot you can expect from it with a nice 240% MF stacked.
anyone actually got anything really good from doing those runs?
from my expierience it's just like someone mentioned : you only get crappy rares which are not even worth putting on AH.
Do people not understand the meaning of the word random?

Too random... 50 runs average 20 rares pur run is 1000 rares... out of all those 1000 rares i haven't found one that was really any good. Good thing people will buy almost anything or i'd be broke by now.
In D2 I remember ending up with 5-10 set items and 3-5 legendaries (might be lowering the numbers) after just an initial normal mode campaign play-through. Even more if I was lucky. They were not the best items ofc. but you got the taste of things to come at least.
Here people new to the game probably would not even realize that there are things like set or legendary items in-game if they don't visit forums or game guide.
Not saying that the game needs give-aways as it would ruin the whole treasure hunting concept but it definitely needs some drop rate tuning. Right now we have a stick but don't have any carrot.
Didn't know there was legendaries in Diablo2, I must've missed something - then again I only played very very very very very much, didn't pindlebot 8 accounts
Uniques, fine, wahtever. Don't pick on my words. You perfectly know what I'm talking about.

Maybe what gear you have on just on the last hit matters to avoid gear switching just the last second?
Well ive killed the Warden the same number of times as the butcher and i kill him with my MF gear on from the start cuz he's easy and nothing good from there either.
Actually all godly rares are in the AH, and they come from later acts (imo), who are almost unbeatable with "normal" stuffed chars
Cleared act 2, maybe saw 1-2 good rares, just finished the 2nd quest of act 3, killed 4-5 elite packs 0 fkin rares (although got a few blue weap for lvl 52-53 with 180-250 dps)!
I've been thinking bout that too, who's to say that gearswitching the last second actually works? With the RNG about you can't really say what's working and what's not, is there any maths/proof on this?
Have you tried doing the boss in completely full MF gear?
Heh cant do that, have only 9k dps 14k hp in that piece of shit gear set.
How about farming Maghda on Inferno? (I admit I'm not there yet... something called work is stopping me from playing as much as I'd like!)
On Hell she's a pushover and she's got pretty good drops, true that there's only 1-2 champ packs before her but with ur MF-gear you could ignore the valor buff and maybe just maybe get some better shit?
Yeah in Inferno she's easy as well. The thing is, there are 5-6 elite packs cramped in Alcarnus and some 150 normal mobs, getting to her will take me hours. Also, the valor buff isnt just for MF, it also increases the number of items dropped by a boss.
i have done the old ruins runs in the darkseller dungeon like 50 times with my 107% MF i got four legendarys and lots of good rare items, alot faster and more easy to do
Before i started doing butcher runs, i farmed the woods north of the drowned temple. 4-7 elite packs always, still didnt get shit

Wait, what??? you seriously got that many?
I've NEVER had that kind of luck with one playthrough for normal for D2. Never. I've even tried stacking MF to see if I could get some of the lower level uniques because I like to item collect. Found nothing, plenty.

Well, yeah. Act 1 first zones, for example, 50% droped 1-2 low level set items.

Yeah, those level 13 sets or w/e it was, shitty items but it was fun getting a green drop x)
That's what I'm talking about! You found greens, you had a guaranteed yellow from the blacksmith quest (and it was really cool to see your ordinary item being transformed into awesomeness). The game was all like "Check this out! See what I've got? Play me and you might find more of those."
Never was that lucky in diablo 2 did entire nightmare and got only a few usable items and found that blacksmithing conversion totally useless because it always gave stats for a different class. Was wearing lots of normal mode gear when I entered hell.
I'm talking about fresh character normal run. That yellow item was always useful for a new character wearing whites and blues.

Nah could have avoided the hook but CBA, i knew that spirit vessel SW would be enough to kill him
