I'm not telling you. I'm just putting my side of things on the table. Reach level 60 in hell/inferno and then tell me you enjoy it. Unless you bought it for one time run, then fine, good for you.
I love being pigeon holed into the same skills as everyone else, I love not being able to survive in act 1 inferno with act 3 inferno gear without my defensive cooldowns.
That's funny, some one was complaining about this on the official forums only to find he used totaly different abilities than me.
It's fine that you like cookie cutters, and more than likely can't play your class properly. I can go through Act 1 Inferno with an offensive build with Act 1 Inferno items, I only just recently bought an Act 2 weapon this morning.

Humor me ass, I havent seen a DH yet that doesnt use 5/6 of the skills im using with 2/3 of the passives im using. With good reason, the rest are clearly inferior.
Idk what class you play, but if im using my vita gear (40k health) I do shit dps, if im using my dex gear even with a decent dodge % and 25k damage I get one shot by everything passed leoric. CC is worthless in inferno, so please humor me.
If you'd like to break down how lifesteal is worthless in comparison to life regen, or how damage reduction does absolutely nothing go nuts. Id love to see an argument for what DHs are supposed to do now that isnt kite, die, kite, die, kite, die, kite.
I'm not telling you. I'm just putting my side of things on the table. Reach level 60 in hell/inferno and then tell me you enjoy it. Unless you bought it for one time run, then fine, good for you.
I find it incredibly insulting that you just ignore the fact that some people actually like this game and that we don't need to be blizzard fanboys or whatnot. Guess what. I like the game. Guess what I like Inferno. I actually like they way it was done because oh.. umm... it is exactly as advertised. They didn't say everyone would beat inferno. They didn't say that it was for everyone either. In fact I remember an interview with Jay that said it was only for a select portion of their customer base or what not.
To those saying that they got ripped off....you payed 60$ (or more for the CE) and got how many hours of enjoyment. Going to a movie with my wife normally sets us back around 40-50$ for about 2 hours. 2 hours! so two copies thats two movies....
Are there things to work on sure. Legendaries being worse then blues... was the same in D2 at launch. Nothing new there. One thing that needs to be remembered is that Legendary = Uniques from d2 (well mostly because now they are way more random).
If there is one thing I hate its drops that have a vastly lower lvel req then needed in the area your in. I shouldn't be getting Act 1 hell items in inferno (rares I am looking at you). Guess what.... the game has been out for a week.... Tweaks will be made. Do people really think that these types of changes are instant. What kind of a world do we live in...

mhm, and which portion would that be? WoW kiddies or Diablo vets? It's either a Diablo sequel or some other game. In this case it was supposed to be a Diablo sequel, hence 'DIABLO 3' title. For it to be that some criteria must be met. It wasn't.
D3 is in no way other than graphically superior than D2. I really hope they get off the high and mighty, high horse and realize they fucked up.
Like I said this is a DIablo fan website, not a blizzard fan websiite, so if your not a "diablo fanboy" why are you even here? really the dumbest shit i've seen in awhile.
Wow. You really hate all the design decisions they made.
* I and many others love the change in skill design. And the sheer wealth of skills D3 offers. If you can't get over the old Skill tree design, that's going to be a huge issue for you.
* Art as you mentioned is awesome
* Gameplay is amazing and I will say definitely a heads up on D2. However I understand that some people don't like it.
* Playing Co-op in D3 is a dream come through
But there are down sides:
* Item Affixes - There is a problem with Legendarys at the moment, and aside from DPS no one really bothers with the other affixes. But this is something they will work on.
Please Remember:
* Diablo 2 classic was a mess at launch as well. There were no exceptional weapon types, uniques were very lackluster as well, the leveling game was a joke, Hirelings has NO customization and were a complete joke, and Hell mode was easy.
- All these issues got fixed with patchs that sadly too way too long. But despite it all, fans loved the gameplay. And since I've been spending way too much time before/after work + weekends all on Diablo 3, I think the gameplay will hold me for a while till the required patches arrive.
PS. Path of Exile has an excellent skill system, and I love the concept of no gold, instead getting "items" and using that as currency. But I hate the Final Fantasy passive thing, playing any of the classes shows a distinct lack of ... "awesomeness" that diablo 3 delivers, you don't feel powerful like you do when a Barbarian in D3 smashes something.
We're diablo fans capable of being objective. I have not read any of your previous posts, but your last one reads like a 13 year old internet hater.
I also dislike the final fantasy style tree. However, do to the mininmal team their working with, how well they are doing, and how their going about making it better, I would say their well on their way to the "awesomeness". You must realize how big blizzard team was right? And the powerful you speak of is simply bass and a flashing effect, turn off your volume you'll only get 1/4 the power feeling.
I look at it like this, is it a cool game? yes. Is it a Diablo game other than the name? to me no. It would be like Street Fighter going from 2D to 3D there would be fans like you who are like wow thats cool dude... Brings it into the new age, yeah man.... And then there would be die hard fans like me who grew playing the series since it started in the arcade, like wtf is this bullshit.
And you're right you didn't read any of my previous posts, you chimed into a conversation with another forum member trying to flame my opinion. Internet hater is a trendy term used by 13 year olds, and pre-adults, meanwhile I was simply responding to everything that was said to me. Please take the time to read before you voice your opinion.

That was just a load of BS hype to get the fanboys all excited. Sort of like that interview where he said that they tuned inferno based on their game testers expectations, and then doubled it, cuz they knew their fans were better than professional game testers.
OR when they said they made entry into inferno easier, and then changed that statement to "we only made inferno harder" when the fanboys cried. Of course anyone who has gotten to act 1 knows it an absolute piece of cake....
And you could go on and on and on.....Fanboys bought it hook like and sinker, despite a few of us warning the community.

I kinda think the RMAH won't be a very big deal. Most the people buying stuff off it will probably be casuals.
I'm just questioning why a casual would even bother spending money to get the best gear when all it does is help them beat Inferno, which has the same content as the other 3 difficulties.
I'm not telling you. I'm just putting my side of things on the table. Reach level 60 in hell/inferno and then tell me you enjoy it. Unless you bought it for one time run, then fine, good for you.

I agree, with the fact about not being ripped off, I have gotten my moneys worth. And I agree Inferno is as advertised (supposedly, as I play a barb) which is nice . But for me and a lot of other people the problem is they completely changed the game, and it just doesnt feel like "Diablo"
Also, once again im not accusing you of lying but a lot of people are talking about D2 release that really have no idea. You were able to play a fairly flawless single player game that was fully functioning, and while some of the uniques were trumped but other items most weren't.
Is this to say that D3 should be exactly like D2? No. Should they have changed it as much as they did? No. If they took out the continuing characters and "story" released it under a different name, no one would say "hey, this is just like diablo" <- there are actually quite a few games that you kill shit, hunt for items, and equip your character.
Feels like I got a super mario bros. 2 pulled on me. Its fun to play, but its not really super mario bros. 2
(edit:) Your video made me lol that guys pretty funny. I dont think it does the best job making your point though since they had a decade before release, and the cut a lot of shit die hard diablo fans really like due to "time constraints, or it not being time efficient." sorry for the dub post again.
The whole if they labeled d3 not d3 would we say its like diablo. Well most ARPGs tend to bring that vibe. I remember when i played borderlands the first time I thought "hey an fps version of Diablo"
Also it is a different development team and unless there is a directive thats says make a D3 exactly like D2 (or of course if Blizz North still existed), you arnt going to get the same game. I think 12 years is exactly that 12 years. very few games that last this long actually still feel the same. I think they nailed it with SC2 but even for companies that try to release "new" versions (think Zelda or Mario as you said) some don't feel like sequels (in Mario 2, a game i am so so with, it isnt even the real Mario 2 which is in English the Lost Levels)
I will put this thought out there however: "If the game finished at hell, would you be as pissed?"
I think its a valid question because inferno really is something insane when you honestly think about it for a minute. Not many game companies are even willing to put something like this out there for the masses to deal with as it is just so brutal and unforgiving.
Demon souls was nuts for some people when it came out, but for me that was learning a new system and a system where skill trumps all if your good enough.
I can't even think back to recent mainstream titles and to think of something this hard I have to really think back about 10 years or more. Doom 2 nightmare, X-com games on Insane, X-wing at hardest setting to name a few, and for me nothing trumps the X-Coms especially Terror from the Deep. There was a game that just didn't care and where you just lost most of the time with no chance for recovery after 20+ hours.

No, the difficulty doesn't bother me in the least, other than I feel its really to linear going from one difficulty to another until inferno: let me clarify I dont mean that I have a problem with not going right into inferno, I have a problem with the fact you can go right from normal to nightmare, and nightmare to hell, this is easily fixed and still is not my issue.
I think you misread my D3 label analogy. It was a bad one anyway, as genres are easily related to specific titles.
Yup, there really hasn't been anything quite this hard (inferno, at least with the barb haven't played it with the others yet) in awhile, Love the fact you listed doom 2 : ) nighmare on doom 3 was pretty wild as well.
I get very little time to play games anymore, even though I work with them, its not really a fair trade off... I have always looked forward to certain realeases.
Doom, Castlevania, Diablo, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Mega Man. (Final Fantasy was also on the list but it has been ruined, in my eyes)
Thats really it, here and there ill pick up another game, so when one of these games is drastically unexpected it makes me a bit bitter as I am an extremely loyal fan of each series (And also Capcom in general). Basically, all games listed I have been playing since I was 4. My cousin gave me his computer, DOOM 1 & 2, and Diablo when I was 9 (he went into the Army) and of course RE was playstation.
Like I've said I like the game as its own entity, but to me (and many others) it's not "Diablo." I think that's a pretty valid statement, I have after all played the series for about 15 years (albeit off and on). Not that that makes me somehow more important, it has just made my expectations higher and more narrow. But I pretty much knew when they closed North I was never gonna get the Diablo 3 I had been waiting for. And yet Blizz showed an amazing gameplay trailer and talked a big nice game and then took out all of it, and added a lot of stuff I really dont like.
Diablo 3 is, unfortunately, a disappointment for me. I can't lie to myself anymore. Gear is all over the place and drops are next to worthless.
I got into Inferno tonight, and realized how artificial the difficulty is. It's ass-raping hard and it's only because the enemies have a load combination of ridiculously unfair, impossible to survive without top tier gear abilities that I can't even kite successfully.
I can handle any of the bosses on Hell difficulty just fine, but a few elites in Inferno tear me to shreds.
I'm one of the biggest Blizzard Fanboys out there, too, but I can't enjoy the game on Inferno and it was tough to enjoy on Hell.

I understand however that compared to D2 it might seem a little too short. But again how long did it really take you to finish the content of D2? Basically not that much longer the only things that extended the playtime were:
1: Reaching level 99 (content was clear though way before that and reaching a level is not what I call content (my opinion))
2. Having to reroll multiple times because there were no cookie cutter builds and no skill resets at start of D2
Also, if you're looking vs D2, you should only count through Act 4, as Act 5 was added in an expansion.
You mind explaining your conspiracy theory here, while I get the popcorn?
No conspiracy theory at all - they've been very clear about the game being 99% designed around co-op and gear. Noting that character progression is focused almost exclusively on gear at the expense of stat and skill assignation, and that ATVI has been loud and clear about the possible upside of the RMAH in conference calls is hardly a stretch.
Thats still a far way until you reach contempt for solo players and pvpers.
Uh, no. Part of solo play in a computer game is being able to sit on a plane, bus, a cafe somewhere, and just play your damn game. And PVP doesn't exist, and when it does, it will probably be walled off from regular game assets.
D3 has some amazing production values and truly innovative elements, but that doesn't mean you need to distort the most basic facts to defend their decisions, decisions which do have legitimate business motivations.

Oh, so you hide your always-online hate behind something else. Got it. They had other business considerations like security, too, but, you must keep the Blizzard hate machine running, and of course, to people like you, making money is criminal. They should give you your games for free, and always written just for you. Get over it. Life doesn't work that way.
You knew it was always online months before release, so why are you whining about it AFTER you bought the game? If you felt that strongly about it, why buy it at all? No sympathy here, sorry. No one hid that single-player was still online.
But, if you don't like it, Torchlight II is around the corner, and while it'll be good, imo, it'll have the stuff you really wanted -- a D2 updated with a lot less changes. Have fun.
bonus points: "decisions which do have legitimate business motivations."
I understand why they made an MMO-lite. I even understand why they totally passed on integrating PVP. I even understand why they are starting to get truly frightened at the coming disaster that the RMAH is, despite finding the fact that they reference it (complete with langauage about "cashing out") on the standard edition box seriously questionable, if not unethical.
But it doesn't mean that I - or even folks like yourself enjoying the simulacrum of a 'solo' experience - need to pretend that the above doesn't exist.

And yet Blizz showed an amazing gameplay trailer and talked a big nice game and then took out all of it, and added a lot of stuff I really dont like.
The implied contempt for PVPers is really only exceeded by the contempt for solo players with no RMAH interest.
You mind explaining your conspiracy theory here, while I get the popcorn?
Also, if you're looking vs D2, you should only count through Act 4, as Act 5 was added in an expansion.
Have fun.
Right, ad hominem red herrings etc.
Read again: "solo players with no RMAH interest."
bonus points: "decisions which do have legitimate business motivations."
