To change from the "This game isnt as great as D2" attitude some people have on the forums, lets see what people are happy that it definetly didnt return in D3
Having to store runes. Those things added up so fast. They were a pain to deal with.
Related; Duped runes. The same items that entirely supported the economy were also the most duped items in the game. They were a form of currency, making gold obsolete. In effect, it was like dealing in disappearing gold.
Exploring an entire dungeon and then having to run all the way back through it to leave because you haven't found the Waypoint in the general area you were in.
Shared stash is cool , although you get less room that way .
Stacking items (Potions , Gems , Pages)
No TPS or Ident scrolls
You can just shift + click on item while in chat to show to your buddies which is a really cool feature , shame u cant compare it with ur gear though .
Teleporting to your friends is a really cool thing too , keeps u in action all the time .
But! things I do miss and I think they were cool :
1. Trade games , trading in game with ppl was really fun !
2. Runes , loved them .
3. Waypoints , collecting them was like an achievement to me. (having them all etc.)
4. In d2 you can actually go wherever you want . Dont need to to open new game for next boss run.
5. I got lost with my own quest line once i joined with my friends (later acts), So I do miss the 'You need to complete quests before you can join your friends on theirs' .
6. It feels really really like a deserted game to me , no chat room at start or anything , very lonely game . In D2 you just enter and bam , spammed by bots , friends etc ... It was always alive .
7. In diablo 2 you had game names , different quests with ppl asking different type of help and it was fun just to enter a game and help someone beat Diablo hell or something .
8. I think I can go on .. but lets end it here
So overall , I love Diablo 3 and it will take a bit time to get used to it ... so im not worried about minor things , I bet they will improve or add some with patches / expansions .
1. Trade games , trading in game with ppl was really fun !
It was fun and I met a lot of my friends that way. Sometimes the bartering was fun. However.....it could be a tremendous pain. scammers wasting your time with their dirty, silly little tricks like trying to pass off a soulstone for an anni. "Oh...wait, need to make room" and then they switch.....lol, yea right
It was also a pain in the butt to deal with the kids whom would demand an unfair price and if you didn't let them rip you, you get cussed out and called a noob. Won't miss that.
I have no plans to ever use the RMAH. I always had an objection to buying items with real cash, never once have I done that.
But you're right.....I will miss the interaction in trades, despite all the stupid kids, jerks and scammers.
Vampiric , Immune Minions, Health Link, Waller. For me as a Demon Hunter is pretty much impossible...
Thats probably the only small complaint I have, the insane combinations on the Champs/Rare mobs.
I love the Rune system in D3 however. Not much for me to dislike about the game...
- Ruining a character because you missed click a skill/stat point.
- Noway to safely transfer items from one character to another without a friend.
- Bots though they are back, before I felt bots were over 50% of the player base.
- Someone killing the cow king in your game and never being able to make the secret cow level again.
- Running out of tp's/scroll of id.
Potion spamming was never a problem for me all my characters had insane life leech. Also picking up gold wasn't an issue because gold was near worthless.
- Inventory space (or lack thereof) and "Inventory Tetris"
- Shared items in co-op
- TP/ID tomes/scrolls since they were just another way to waste inventory space
- Immunities
- Lightning Enchanted being OP as hell
- Allocating stat points to be just enough to use armor then dumping into vitality
- Synergies
- Having to reroll a toon if you somehow messed up skill/stat allocation
- Druids & Assassins, which seemed to be poorly implemented classes that fell far short of their potential
- Limited respec
- Those lightning immune ghosts at Hell difficulty
- How lightning enchanted affix / Dung Beetles worked. GOD.
- Inventory space + a lot of charms you had to carry = chaos
- Unless you had a decent mana leech... there was never enough mana. A bigger pain with casters, by the way.
- Summon necromancers when you had a dial-up connection
- PK'ing, especially at Cow/Baal runs
- Duriel "lol no you can't run away" strategy
- Multi-immune mobs + efficient builds being based in just 1 type of damage (and even then, your meteorb sorc could find something fire AND cold immune)
- Arrows/bolts/useless damage potions
- Charged items overpricing your repair bills
For me, the two major ones are:
Physical Immune mobs.
Ethereal items.
Related; Duped runes. The same items that entirely supported the economy were also the most duped items in the game. They were a form of currency, making gold obsolete. In effect, it was like dealing in disappearing gold.
