apparently it's an issue with battlenet...at least that's what the breaking news update says on the login screen. looks like all of their online games are offline atm...
I was just doing a particularly long quest in A3 and got kicked, started up again, now I was literally 1 attack left from it being completed and got kicked again. Will have to do it a third time now. T.T
It actually kicked me out mid boss fight that was almost over... I guess I can count my blessings it didn't kick me after the kill, but before I looted.
Lucky you, this is exactly what happened to me, Argh!!!
I've noticed that it's a big plus to be a member of this forum, because whenever Diablo goes down, the battle net website usually goes down with it and so where else would I have to go to bitch about the servers failing again?
One has to consider that there are millions of people trying to log-in and play.
As Bashiok said, during the time periods when the servers all come up, or during peak hours and such, there are going to be problems for a while.
It won't really settle down until they can get a better idea of how things are actually working (opposed to how they planned for them to work on paper), and server traffic is much more random.
For now, I would bet they are working on getting more equipment, optimizing it, syncing it up, etc.
As an example, if you recall when Rift launched, they had to continually add more servers. Anyone playing Rift at launch will remember the messages saying, "We just brought up 12 more servers, etc", with each server having a capacity of around 30,000 if I recall correctly.
On paper, and in our heads, it all works out nice and neat, so we wonder what the problem is. But in reality, things are going to be a bit different.
okay yeah, now im getting pissed. this was the only day i requested off and the servers have been offline what 4 times now? blizzards been working on the game for 5+ years, they knew how big the fan base was, why didnt they add more servers or something to make sure this doesnt happen?

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
Does anyone else think they are way too adamant about the whole 'no offline mode' issue?
No, I would much rather have the game mostly free of hacks and bots than allow people to have offline mode and develop tools to ruin the online portion for everyone.

I think that's how we all feel. Hell, I doubt I'd even be visiting this website if both Diablo and its homepage weren't down.
2:30 AM: game is down, give up, go to bed, no big.
7:00 AM: game is down, keep trying. Eventually get in at 10:00;
Work at 12:00. Didn't even get past the beta areas.
Break at 5:00 PM: curious if it's working, I drive home. Blizz says it's down until right when my break ends. I think phew, I get to play tonight!
9:00 PM: I get off work, try to play. I log in, play for less than an hour, and this happens...
This is bullshit. If this is happening by 3 PM tomorrow when I get off working all morning I'm going to start clamoring for my money back to service just to be a dick.

I actually agree on this. They really don't seem to show any sign of even considering implementing an offline mode feature and when it's brought up they either ignore it on the forums or give the same weak response and end the discussion quickly.

oh dear heavens, i'd rather be able to play the game at all quite frankly, no reason they couldn't have everything for multiplayer be server side still while also allowing offline
lmao. ok NOW this is getting rediculous. i took time off of work for this shit yo
Tell about it. I don't care about the 'Its just been released' or 'give it time' BS. Don't sell a product that doesn't ******* work Blizzard!
If the stability doesn't improve then **** it... I'll get a refund and go play something else that doesn't require the bloody internet to play it when I'm just playing alone at home, single player, using no online features at all. Fucking stupid idea.

The season is underway. Don't know if I'll make it through.
Akarat save me !
