I have the beta version of Diablo 3 installed on my PC, will I need to install D3 from my cd or dl or w/e, or will my beta version just get a patch to become the full retail Diablo 3?
ok, thanks On an unrelated note, since I'm buying mine via a local retailer, can I still download the game before the release? Even though I won't have a cd key to register till I pick up my copy?

The downloader is available to everyone, you just have to find it - some can get them from straight from B.Net because they already have starter versions attached for some reason, and some have to get it from hosting sites. If you download the euEN or euGE version, make sure the download is no older than May 12, 10AM.
The files you download are the same encrypted files as you'll find on the disc as far as I know, its all about registering the key and waiting for the servers to come online.
Thanks, I'll start looking around for a download link. Know any trustworth sites that are hosting the US version?

Any one can download it from battle.net but they didn't exactly make it public. I am assuming they didn't announce this so the servers aren't overloaded and people who actually paid for the digital version have no problem doing so.

I'm at battle.net now, looking for a way to download it but can't find one. The only thing under Diablo III is "pre-purchase Diablo III now!"
and if I go to the "Download Game Clients" link, it only shows wow, sc2, and classic games (sc1, d2, lod)
Thanks. Though that appears to be the downloader, I didn't test it, but the comments suggest its just the download client, and it won't let you download until servers are up (or until blizz allows). Again, just judging from the comments on that site.

This is the downloader/installer but you can't install until you have a CD key associated with your account. I decided not to download because it would take my slow connection hours and I need to wait until I have the CD in my possesion before I could install it either way. In my opinion its almost a waste of time to download it if you don't have a digital download version of the game associated with your b-net account.
Ok, just found this quote from Blizz. It clears up my question about downloading the game before its release.
Early Install
We will be unlocking the game's installer at 8:01 a.m. PDT on May 14. This will allow you to begin installing the game, troubleshoot any issues you run into, download and install the launch day 1.0.1 patch, and be ready to play as soon as the servers come online.

This is not true. You will not need a CD/key to install the game, only to play it. As soon as the servers allow install, you can install and make sure everything works, then go pick up your game, go home, enter your CD-key on b.net, and you'll be ready to play ASAP. No need to install from the disc, ever.
Sweet! Starting the download as I type this lol. Thanks for clearing that up!
I confirm what this guy said.
