I have been deliberating for awhile now and still don't know who to go with. Wizard awesome ranged and technical skills or a Monk for a great balance of melee damage and healing. Any one else have the same internal debate going on? either way I'm going to choose one and play them all the way to 60
Doesn't even matter, classes are balanced really well. ^^ I'd choose Wiz though, they seem less gear dependant which is a good thing for a first char.
Based on what? Your experience in beta?
I will tell you straight up, the Wizard is going to be a late bloomer. She is going to suck til she gets the right gear.
Some people don't like that sort of thing.
Other than that, its completely up to you.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

I was having a hard time picking my self, eventually i went with the same pick i did with the 2 previous games (Barbarian).
For hardcore i will go WD or Monk, most likely WD until a few deaths, then i will be more used to the game.
I had the exact same debate. Started off thinking I'd go monk, then tried Wizard in beta and found him pretty fun to play. Ultimately however I've decided to stick with monk, because he seems to be a more useful partner for a witch doctor.
Maybe you should think about who you're going to play D3 with, or if you're gonna solo, and which class would be better suited for your purposes?
To the OP: I like Monk, had heaps of fun playing him in the beta. Don't think of him as a supporter as some people say. He will be able to fight as well as anyone.
1.) i'm starting playing with 2 friends where one is barb and the other monk ... don't want to have too many melees.
2.) after researching the monk alot i felt like it would be more complex than wizard ... and i wanted to start of easy and comfy
Honestly, the wiz and the monk are, in my mind, two of the most well made, well balanced classes. They both offer a wide variety of options in terms of skills, gameplay, mechanics.. you can't go wrong with either one. Both are extremely fun to play. The flip a coin suggestion might be the best one here.
.... doesn't matter I'll outbid you all on the AH
I get that feeling you have with all classes.. it's amazing what they have achieved with it.. (compared to like boring Barb or Amazon play in D2, at least on the early levels).

You, sir, just won life.

i went with wizardfor two reasons.
