Magic Find
Magic Find has always been one of the most popular item attributes in Diablo. Magic find helps increase the probability that a higher quality item will drop from monsters.
Magic Find helps increase the likelihood of Magic, Rare, Set and Legendary items dropping.
The Magic Find attribute can be found on any items that are high enough to support the affixes.
Magic Find is based on a percentile increase.
You get 20% of the MF found on your follower (source)
When played cooperatively items drop separately for each player. This means each player sees their own loot and not loot that has dropped for the other people in the group. When picked up and dropped on the ground or traded the items obviously become visible to the other players as well.
When playing in a group, the total Magic Find of the group will be divided equally amongst each player. Here is an example given by Blizzard: "The group consists of four players. In total, their stats are 50% MF, +20% GF and 10% XP, each of these players will have a 12.5% MF, 5% GF and 2.5% XP being in such a group." (Source)
Players will find stacking Magic Find gear more difficult than Diablo II due to the sacrifice of other important attributes.
Topaz gems will add Magic Find when socketed into a Helmet.
There is no cap on how much Magic Find you can have.
Nephalem Valor Buff
The Nephalem valor buff is a system added to Diablo III to help encourage players to play more of the game instead of resorting to boss farming for items. The Nephalem valor buff will increase a player's Magic Find for continually killing monsters.
The Nephalem Valor buff increases a player's Magic Find as well as increase the amount of loot drops from a boss.
The Nephalem Valor buff will be available only to characters of level 60.
After killing an Elite monster, the Nephalem Valor buff will be activated.
The Nephalem Valor buff can stack.
The buff will disappear if you change a skill, skill rune, passive skill or leave the game.
The buff will last for an undetermined amount of time.
If a player joins a game, they will not receive the current buff other players may already have.
Dying will not cause the buff to disappear.
If disconnected, there will be a small grace period before disappearing.
Man I know it's mean but I wonder if there will be a 'kick player' option when you join a random group. It'd suck to have nephalem buff stacking then some dumb or troll player comes in and destroys the streak consistently.

Nephalem Valor is an independent buff. Changing skills/runes only removes the buff from yourself, it doesn't affect anyone else,

There isn't a kick option. When you make a game, it can be private so only friends can join or invite only so no one can join. Just go do runs into those.
Magic Find helps increase the likelihood of Magic, Rare, Set and Legendary items dropping.
Might want to reword that as it can be a bit misleading. Magic Find doesn't increase the chance of a Magic/Rare/Set/Legendary item dropping, rather it increases the stats of any items that do drop. Only the Barbarian can actually affect the drop rate of enemies.

What are you talking about? No. Just no. The original post is correct.
Ah you are right for all intensive purposes really
lol when people trying to sound smart... You're wrong about MF on weapons, and you're wrong about "intensive purposes". The saying is "intents and purposes". And it doesn't apply, because the original statement is 100% correct in all circumstances.

Maybe then just a small edit note saying does not improve drop frequency just drop quality.

So I'm confused, magic find makes it more likely to get drops right ?
It seems as though MF will be very rewarding for D3 if you can get a good MF group together. Especially since each person gets their own set of drops
not true as it's devided, will be far better running around alone with good MF, if you are in a squad and everyone has good MF you will get more drops. but if you have the highest (technically) you are losing items to your squad mates.

Yes, this is going under 2 assumptions:
A) Everyone has good MF (So a group specifically devoted to MF) If someone finds a good item that will benefit other members of the team, they will give them that item.
Same MF %, but x the drops. I guess I just like that it is now possible to make this a social event instead of having the same amount of drops for x amount of players and free-for-all mentality.

This is incorrect as not a single weapon in the beta had magic find or gold find on it.
The quote more means you can find it on anything (as in all slots have it) not talking about level limitations
ill fix er up
What ? ?

Good stuff molster, i am guessing you wont get MF from putting a topaz in chest armor anymore then?

Not improving the quality of drops ?
What does this mean? More elite kills - more mf% added?
