Did I just read 63,000 in Public Games? That's insane! I mean think about it, when Blizz invited 275,000 people, there was about 1k-3k in public games... if we extrapolate then holy **** I think there's like 6 million people who are going to play LOL.

No wonder why the server are failling lol! I hope this prepares them for the actual release!
It's definitely going to be crazy this weekend! I wonder how many total beta invites went out. All I know is it probably doesn't compare to the amount of people who have been thirsting for a taste of this game so bad for so long...
I hope the servers aren't too wobbly and people get a good chance at playing and trying things out.
Yeah... I couldn't get into a game last night with only like 4k people on. Fire the emergency booster engines Blizz... None of these shenanigans come release!

A lot of people who got a beta key played for a while, got "bored of content" and just stopped playing. I imagine it would be something as high as 70-80% of the people they invited (based off the number of people in public games).
I wonder if they will do this again next weekend if there are still issues come Monday morning...???
While they only posted "this weekend and this weekend only" I'm sure there is wiggle room with that statement. Depending on how this test goes they may continue through the week or do another stress test next weekend. I think doing weekend stress tests will get the optimal (read maximum) amount of people logging in and doing things in game at once. All that activity will show where things are week server side and where they are not. From a networking perspective I'd imagine this weekend and possibly a followup weekend will indicate whether they need more servers, load balancers etc to manage the heavy traffic with minimal to no lag.
I'm so glad they are doing this! I have been playing in the beta for months now and have witnessed the evolution of the skill systems and game. It's really great to see that they are purposely trying to BREAK the system - that is HOW you should QA. Mad kudos to Blizzard for this!
Can't wait for release I might just have to stock up on the Red Bull :>
65k in public games, the amount playing in private has got to be insane
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the 'total players' number at the top of the games counts everyone including private games (considering the breakdown of people in any given quest never adds up to the total players number).
Looks like blizzard nowhere near ready for may 15 ,hope they fix issues not only server ones but also thier updates and so called "agent" sofwere is so fucked up atm , i have perfectly easyly downloaded and installed D3 beta on my comp with Vista ,but my sis's comp with Windows 7 refusing to install. Tried may be 7-8 diferent solutions on web but no way , its just stack at update screen. this weekend is a total failure , i am prety sure at least %50 of D3 beta client downloaders never even get to play the game before monday deadline , shame only on you blizzard.
That's a lot of negative assumptions mezardan. =) Especially considering the 63k in public games. Lots of people are getting in, it just takes a little while.
