A level 45 item can add 165 stat points! A full set of level 21-50 gear adds almost 900 stat points to the character in this case. Quad-stat items exist (see shield). It looks like we're going to be seeing some high numbers on our character screens.
This doesn't suprise me but I like it, with the addtion of inferno and how difficulty scales (and how hard they said diablo 3 will be nightmare +) that items are recieving a small boost. Those are also rare items that are found probably mid-late nightmare, possibly even early hell so thier stats aren't that suprising.
Edit: For all those people who think this is similar to wow, you are indeed incorrect. The stat margins are extremely different and size not to mention they aren't even the same as wow.
I don't really like high numbers, because every increase seems insignificant.
If you have 3452 strength +/- 243 doesn't really feel like any reasonable change at all.
When you have 150 strength, then +/- of 20 is something you'd consider big.
And because of that reason, they are scaling down all numbers in WoW (which is a good idea, I think).

Since when did they say they were doing something they were "considering" for the expansion after MoP? I feel bad for Blizzard, people really take anything they say and sprint full home with it, and it ends up so far from the truth that you can't even remember where it started.

Keep in mind that it's all relative (7% vs. 7.5%). Each of those comparisons works out to be roughly the same. If you do quick math in your head, you'll realize they're both equally as "big".

Always fun when somebody makes a statement that's just 100% false. Blizzard actually confirmed quite a while ago that they will NOT be doing an "item squish" for MoP.

Wha..? 243/3452 = 7%. 20/150 = 13.33%. Of course 20/150 feels like a bigger deal -- because it is. 10/150 is a much closer ratio to 243/3452,

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

Most of the information about WoW on these forums is ripe with falsehoods and misinformation. A lot of people who haven't even played the game spout of "facts" like they know what they're talking about when all it does is make them look the fool. It would be like me going onto the SWtoR forums and telling everyone it's a terrible game when I've never played it, followed it or even seen the game in action. The only information I have is the biased opinions of other people.
That being said. I have no problems with the numbers is Diablo 3. Things got pretty silly in Diablo 2 as well when skills like Meteor and Blessed Hammer started scaling up into the tens of thousands, especially when your character had, what, 1500 health on average without Battle Orders? We'll have to see how things go once the game guide is updated with the Inferno legendaries.
Please, please, please don't turn this into another Diablo vs WoW comparison flame wars. Yes, there are similarities (news flash - they're both "Action RPGs" from the same company), but don't even for 1 second start flaming and saying how one is "better" than the other.
Thanks
I don't know what to think of those numbers until we see some actual monster and stats growth comparison, so yeah nice video though, hadn't seen it.
Versions of MMOs that didn't require huge numbers to interest people because the gameplay was actually exciting on it's own?
Heh, I was just teasing you for saying "it's so WoW" without any elaboration on what you mean by it. Putting it the way you do now makes for a better argument, although I can't really comment on whether I think it's true or not. I've played very little of the later versions of WoW where the stat numbers are high.
Question about the shield, i notice it has mostly str, some dext and vitality, and little int, is it possible to get them all high stats on one item?
For instance lets say the rolling of the item (if the options were only str, int, vit, and dext)
str (1-80)
dext (1-80)
int (1-80)
vit (1-80)
So could you get all in the top range? such as in the 70-80 range? Or do they take away from each other, like does having str high mean another will be low?
I say this because recently in the beta with the vendor now selling rings i noticed that they always have 2 stats, in my case i was looking for + damage and attack speed, and every time I checked I could either find a 1-2 damage with 5% attack speed, or a 2-4 damage with 4% attack speed, never a combination of the better of both.
Well I can certainly understand not liking the huge numbers especially as we reach level 60 and expansions etc.
But the alternative is to find a Magic Weapon that give +1 dps, and in 2 levels a weapons that gives +2 dps. Not exactly exciting, especially when you reach level 60 and find an ultimate weapon that gives +10 dps. Or an ultimate weapon in the game that only grants +15 dps. Like wow. so... epic.
Just by inflating the numbers by 10, we now have a +10 dps weapon at low levels and a +150 dps weapon at level 60. Same ratio of damage increase but huge difference in terms of excitement level.

Uhm, well I'm not really following WoW, since I'm not playing it anymore (stopped like 2 years back).
Just something I've read long time ago.
Didn't think they would make a U-turn on it tho, seemed like a very good idea at the time.

Nahhhhh no need to compare it to WoW

comes from the barbarian spotlight video I assume. Can freeze frame that vid and see alot of items
http://www.wowhead.com/item=16817 Here's an epic item from WoW at level 60 on release, Just sayin'
Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to get at.
Insane!
