Hi everyone, I’m new to these forums and hoping you guys can shed some light on something I just cant get my head around.
Its the new Skill System.
Basically, looking over the Skill Progression several things come to mind.
1 – For the first 7 levels you don’t actually have any skill options. Technically you get new skills every level, but it’s just unlocking a new skill tree or a rune skill, so short of simply not using it you don’t really have any options at all you just get them. Won’t everyone’s character be the same until level 8?
2 – As you level higher you get more skills/runes to choose from, but if said skills/runes are better than the last one what’s the point? Wont you simply use the next one up the ladder every time you level up, or will level 1 Rune skills also level up?
3 – I notice at certain levels you are given the option of 2 passive skills which is great, but this doesn’t happen with any other skills so again when you level up you just pick the newer more powerful skill/rune which isn’t really levelling up at all since all the monsters get more powerful anyway and you’d be mad to keep the old less powerful skill.
I must be getting this all wrong, because right now the skill system looks ridiculous to me.
Thanks.

You still have choices. Levels 1 and 3 unlock a new primary for most classes, so you can pick one or the other, or both if you choose to forgo your secondary. Granted, many players will have similar builds at these levels, but that's the intention. You are leveling up and just starting out, they want to introduce you to the things you can do at a constant, but gradual rate.

The last 2 are really the same question. The next skill or rune will not be better. All skills and runes have a reason to exist and therefore will be useful in different situations. You can take the skill you had at level 1 and use it (with a rune of your choosing) all the way through to 60. Again, no skill is considered "better" than another skill, each has pros and cons.
That's the thing to keep in mind. Everything scales on Weapon Damage which makes pretty much all 20+ sills your class will learn as a viable skill. Each Rune only helps to enhance the skill and make it better.
Thanks mate. Your right! I never even noticed the Weapon Damage % thing and its so obvious now. That pretty much changes everything and answers all my questions. Awesome!
Well.... with that said... I'm ubber excited for D3 once again. That was really doing my head it. Cheers mate.

I hope that helps.
