As we all know, Diablo 3 has suffered a large amount of content cuts over the last year or so, mostly due to time constraints, or Blizzard feeling some system not living up to it's potential. Some of these have been harrowing to see go through the chopping block.
Since Blizzard feels they aren't living up to their standards, it leaves me with a strange notion of figuring out where the problem lies. Some of these systems appeared very flesh out and rather promising.
So I figured I'd bring this subject here. Why do you think these systems were inevitably cut, and what would you like to see when they do eventually bring them back in the future.
1. Charms and the Talisman. The major problem surrounding charms in D2 was rectified by the inclusion of the talisman in D3. I really liked the idea of the talisman, I was really looking forward to see what they'd do with it, but I get why they scrapped it. It was just a redundant item, it's just an item with stats, like any other.
That's why I thought it would be great if they'd have a seperate stack of bonuses removed from thjose you can get from your normal items. Something like, maybe, they remove class skill bonuses from normal items, but only implement them on charms. SOmething like that.
2. The Mystic. The sadest day in D3 development for me was when the Mystic received the axe. To be perfectly frank, I wouldn't change a thing. Bash said the reason they removed the Mystic was because they serve the same function as gems. That couldn't have been further from the truth. There are a total of four gems, which function as normal items that drop randomly. There were more than 300 mystic recipes, and you have full control on adding enchants whenever you want.
I would like them to return the Mystic the same state they left her in.
3. Siegebreaker Assault Beast and boss kill animations. These two were both cut due to time constraints. It can't be argued that these wouldn't have added anything to the game. Small personalized animations have that added effect of making a player feel engaged, it's a gratifying experience that makes small things count while playing.
I'd like to see these added in the future. And as for the Siegbreaker, well, no boss in D2 came close to his scale and being the first boss we saw back when we were introduced to D3, I think he deserves his due.
4. PvP. Yes, this is where Blizzard completely peeved of a large number of their fanbase. That said, Pvp will definitely be included in D3 sometime after release. I'm only wondering how they will expand on it, what modes will they add over time. To be honest, PvP in D3 has a lot of potential. Think about it. King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, or even FFA would go a long way to make it insanely fun.
Another fun mode I've thought about would be a sort of a horde mode, where enemies keep on spawning, but players can alos kill each other. While the player with the highest score wins, throughout the growing hordes they still need one another in order to survive.
Lastly, this is not a let's bash Blizzard thread, take that nonsense elsewhere. My intention is to start a constructive environment where you can discuss your feelings on this subject or say where you'd like the development on these issues to go.

Incorrect Siege is still in game, he just no longer does those super cool kill animations.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
The only thing I'm miffed about is that Blizzard decided to scrap the concept and addition of the Mystic Artisan.
Certainly would've added more depth and customization of your gears.
Some pics of the Mystic.
As for the PvP, I don't really plan on playing it that much, so to me,
not a big of a deal that Blizzard chose to give it a good polish and release it post-launch
via patch.
But the idea of a horde mode is really intriguing to me.
Laying waste, raining havoc, senselessly murdering the endless demons of hell,
sounds really, really fun, doesn't it?
I think they just want to leave some room for expansions , like in diablo 2 when they released Lord of destruction adding runes , increasing stash size , allowing to equip ur merc , more items etc...
I believe the same will be with Diablo 3 and its expansion .
P.S. forgot to mention 2 new classes were added in LoD , I definitely want to see more classes in diablo 3. (in the future of course)

I really like your idea of removing some bonuses from normal items and adding them to charms. But they know that they will have to add something later on and also additionally balance the game which probably is not as balanced as they now think it is and charms will be a way to do it easily. We don't really need it from the start. It will be much more exciting if they add some of those features every few months.
2. The Mystic. The sadest day in D3 development for me was when the Mystic received the axe. To be perfectly frank, I wouldn't change a thing. I would like them to return the Mystic the same state they left her in.
I think that mystic enchants are too flexible for customization mechanics. It probably made them struggle with balancing of the game or just made balancing completely impossible. It would be really great to have her back but I don't think it will happen in the current form. But they may just restrict mystic recipes somehow or find some way to balance game with it better. But I'm sure this won't happen till the expansion.
3. Siegebreaker Assault Beast and boss kill animations. These two were both cut due to time constraints. It can't be argued that these wouldn't have added anything to the game. They said it is too much work involved in doing those kill animations. I wouldn't expect them back. I think we may see our own normal death animations at some point though Oh and if they didn't do mobs kill animations now they probably won't bring it with expansions as it will just give them more death animations to create. But yes, if they could add them that would be ubber cool. It's on my Diablo 4 features request list
4. PvP. Yes, this is where Blizzard completely peeved of a large number of their fanbase. That said, Pvp will definitely be included in D3 sometime after release. I like all those ideas but looking at WoW they were bringing those slowly and it raised lots of balancing issues. They even separated gear to PvP vs PvE. I believe though that all those modes which requires a fight of group of ppl vs another group may be possible but not ones were speed of running is important like CtF. KoH sure, this should be no problemo for them. I would also like myself to see some nice arena mode where we fight not only the opposing group but waves of mobs as well which would allow us to kite mobs on members of opposing groups. From time to time one of the bosses could be spawn by the game in this mode as well. It could be very fun, imo.
Btw, if you thing somebody goes out of topic too much you can always gather those post together and close them in a spoiler tag so we can see the relevant conversation easily. It's just a one rude idea though
@BaconizedCream: The horde mode, isn't it more like co-op then PvP. I think whole diablo is like a horde mode
The difference between co-op campaign and horde mode, though, is that in horde mode
mobs keep spawning (hopefully infinitely) in a certain time interval, and you do not
have to move around much to find and kill the minions of Diablo.

Wow, this is an awesome idea! Except I rather have it co-op based, without the killing each other part xD Just killing waves of enemies that get stronger with time, kind of like Left 4 dead, or the SC2 mode where you kill waves of zombies, or the mode in one of the CoD games where you killed nazi-zombies or something, can't remember exactly but it was fun xD Generally I'm looking forward to more than just strict PvP, but also co-op based modes, that'd be sooo great!
I've somehow missed that part completely and write about the same idea myself
And it is much more fun with the opposing group as you can kite mobs on them and vice versa.

Then I would ask blizzard to improve path finding and mobs communication and as soon you kill one mob in the act all mobs in the act in every dungeon knows about it and start rushing to get you. This would be survival
i read somewhere that the Siegebreaker was being controlled by one of the developers during the original gameplay video. They said it was too complicated to script something like that or something.
Horde mode would be great, however according to Blizzard and many of the people on this board you would have to limit the characters to 4 per game. Anything more and it would be impossible to manage and to chaotic for their brains.
If they were to put it in though, it should be either an unlimited tower or a very tall one. With boss fights inbetween and have everything get gradually harder. Maybe add a store option to buy health globes or buffs, ect. Last level if there was 1 should be like every boss on inferno and mobs.

Good point with that 4 players per game restriction. Co-op still possible but PvP not so much.

I have a sneaking suspicion we'll be seeing both these return in future expansions. Assuming there will be 2 expansions (fingers crossed) I'm thinking we will see Charms (or at least something similar) appear in Expansion 1, probably along with an extra stash tab. I believe the Mystic will make her return in Expansion 2. The extra item enhancements from here would make the most sense for true (fully expanded) endgame imho.
Incorrect Siege is still in game, he just no longer does those super cool kill animations.
This is great news. Last I heard they removed him from the game because of they didn't have time to implement him. Since the first time I saw the Siegebreaker introduced, I couldn't wait to face him.
Probably the dumbest thing they can do to damage D3 would be to separate PvE and PvP gear. Maybe it worked in WoW, but that would completely form a massive schism in the D3 gear optimization. Luckily, since they're focusing on PvE primarily, we won't be seeing this happen.
A horde mode would definitely be great in D3, just to add another mindless fun activity for you to do alone, or with friends. If they do add it though, I think they should make give options to do a PvE and also a PvPvE mode. That would add an interesting dynamic to the whole system, I think.
Not a fan of charms and talismans, unless they'd make some seperate window for it, because in D2 to me it was a massive waste of inventory space, and i hate that. Having something taking 3/4 of your inventory just for additional buffs is meh.
The Talismn is an area where charms are placed to grant you benefeit such that they don't occupy space in your inventory, so Its your (and my) dream come true!

My guess is that they will add the Talisman and the Mystic at the same time and the Mystic will be the artisan who works on the talisman and its charms (pun intended) making the talisman larger and maybe mixing charms to produce higher level charms. If people are still compaining about 'No Unque Builds' they may even allow her to boost the effectiveness of your rune choices (for a cost maybe based on level or something) for a maximum of 6 runes at one time. You could go back and change which runes with some more money, but it would give the critics something that feels more impactful while not removing the freedom and making her even more mystical!

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
Unique kill animations were never ever a planned "thing." It was a one-time special animation controlled by another dev through commands to make the Siegebreaker fight more awesome. Its purpose was that and only that. In fact, that whole fight, from the trees to the skeleton horde was unique in that it was just to make the game seem awesome to the people watching.

Needless to say, it worked.
and also, who cares about kill animations? It seems as though people don't realize you have to DIE in order to experience them. To all of those out there who just love dieing, I'm sure the seigebreaker will still toss your bloody, lifeless corpse like a ragdoll upon your death, and since it will be cool, but not TOO cool to see, maybe it will convince you to not see that happen again.
Mystic: I believe they said they are rethinking the Mystic, clearly they have done a lot of developing to bring her to the point she was at pre-scrap, and don't want to get rid of her entirely. They haven't yet stated though whether she will return (in her renewed and more relevant form) in a later patch, or a new expansion.
Personally, I'm not a fan of what the Mystic was. She was too like the Torchlight enchanter, who I totally hated. I'd rather just have my best gear be my best gear, without it needing the best random enchant to make it the best best.
Since Blizzard feels they aren't living up to their standards, it leaves me with a strange notion of figuring out where the problem lies. Some of these systems appeared very flesh out and rather promising.
