So, if Blizzard is smart (and they are) then they HAVE to make Inferno very very difficult, don't they?
They can't let their RMAH be ruined by botters and cheaters, can they?
I mean, lets be honest, there is nothing stopping botters out there. They will make the bots, the bots will work and be able to automate farming. The only thing that will stop them is if the content is difficult to the point where you really need to be a living, breathing human to beat it.
Inferno must be too difficult for a computer, and I think we can all take solace in the fact that it will be.
i think what they should do is have a random NPC run up to you and if you dont interact with the NPC you get disconnected
hopefully the whole randomness of D3 will help
in wow you put in lay out to farm, in d3 its harder cos of the randomness of dungeons
also the mobs as you said, the bot could be going along nicely and boooom he comes across 2 rares and 4 champions...the bot is gona die...hopefully
Macro's can be quite capable of tackling even some seemingly random situations. As long as the programmers are efficient at what they do, they could account for that random NPC that disconnects you if you don't respond (which will never happen in Diablo) and even the champion mobs.
There are always, and I mean *always* going to be private bots that run perfectly. The general public will never hear about them, much less see them. Hopefully inferno is too hard for them, I'd love to see a bot get roflstomped.

Yea, I am sure eventually people will have the gear to do it anyways though :/
I don't think Blizzard is smart. It is not certain fact that they are.
Anyway, could they prevent bots by having someone enter a security code each time they make a new game and create auctions - The same concept you see when registering for forums?
Having to do this may be a nuisance, so perhaps they could have this requirement activated only on highly active accounts.
Just watched a video yesterday about Inferno's difficulty... it said that the minimum monster level in Inferno (and actually across ALL of Inferno) will be 62, while the player cap is 60. In D2 the player cap was 99, while the highest monster level was 85. Inferno's difficulty will be on par with trying to fight level 103 monsters in D2, so yeah, expect it to be tough. Real tough.
The other cool thing about Inferno is that ALL the monsters will be level 62, meaning that the first act of Inferno should (in theory) be somewhat on par with the last act, allowing/forcing players to farm all the acts and not just the final ones, which is pretty cool in my opinion.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
They should just add a captcha when you join a game or change act! Problem solved!
Because it will not look wrong when suddenly a captcha pops up!
Even though, I would actually not mind it. The botting would get a problem making succesful bot runs then. I think.
This kind of system is too impractical - at any rate, I hope the solution Blizzard puts in place is more elegant than a captcha or something like that.
I hope they're thinking about this. Someone tweet Bashiok about it or something. Has this had a blue response of any kind other than the standard "we take a strong stance against botters and botting"?
It gives me a little bit of confidence to see that sites like MMOViper don't have a WoW component because of the lawsuit against MMOGlider.
Perhaps the prospect of you losing all the money in your B.Net bucks if you get banned will discourage botting. It would sure suck for a botter if they had like two grand in their account and they lost it all because they were caught cheating. Blizzard should only allow you to cash out once a month or something like that.

except you cannot cash out bnet balance.
A RMAH sale goes STRAIGHT to your paypal... or straight into bnet balance... you cannot turn bnet balance into paypal....
On the point dough... Will inferno be hard? We can ask "will Hell be hard", ofcourse for 45-50 level Champ Hell will be hard... In D2, hell was damn hard the first time beating it, PLAYING WITHOUT HELP! All depends on the items you have. First youll grind in Nightmare in order to clear Hell. Then youll grind in Hell, in order to be able to grind in Inferno.
Why are all scared of the dificulty levels!? It will be soo much fun, they have many testers who are gamers like us, and they want the same thing. D3 will be amazing... Just have more patience!

What are you talking about? Nobody is impatient, and nobody is complaining about anything being too difficult. The contests are over, you can think before you post now.
I hope Inferno is incredibly difficult. Casuals can chill in Normal/Hell/Nightmare but leave Inferno for the stout-hearted warriors.
Just have a system that when you join a simple sum pops up (like 19 + 7) and if you dont give a correct answer you are kicked. If the sum is a graphic of some sort then i dont see how a bot could get past it?

There won't be bots smart enough to run inferno. Same as you can't see bots doing high level raids in WoW. To difficult and raids change to often to write sensible bot in time even if someone could do it. In diablo they may change mobs mechanics slightly every now and then too and bots will die

That is assuming I can actually run inferno myself.

Lol, lets put captcha there.
