So with us closing in on Q2 and a potential release date, I'm reviewing the pros of the collector's edition for the game.
Does anyone know if the wings will be more angiris-like for the males, or for the size of the character, and do we know what the extra dyes and banner will look like? So far I've only been able to find the one picture of a female toon with these kinda dinky looking wings, whereas I'd hope they'd be more all-encompassing, bear hug, stron, life of their own looking things rather than a shoulder accessory.
For instance, let's say I'm playing a male barbarian and I have the collectors edition and the wings look so wimpy I'd rather not equip them.. Is there a statement somewhere concerning this?
Are you really into buying CE? I think that most of them are nothing special. Some extra items which will just gather dust after a while. It's like buying CD. You look at booklet and other stuff and in the and all that really matters is the music.
I am definitely purchasing the CE (pre-ordered in October.) I am also a person who enjoys purchasing the actual CD and books. I know it is silly but I feel like these items are like trophies, I enjoy them then put them up on display so I can enjoy them later, prompt me to think about it or others to ask about it. Its aesthetic and demonstrative of something I enjoy, like putting a poster up. I know its silly and at the end of the day is just extra money spent towards Blizzard, but I genuinely enjoy it and will be glad in ten years that I spent that extra $40 to have something that other people don't have. And I know again how silly that sounds, but we all have our things.

I think the wings are stupid, seriously. But that doesn't mean I don't want them, they are something that force me to buy the CE and I don't like this. Is the Diablo skull still in CE? That would be worth my money.
As far as I know, there hasn't been any change in the content since the reveal.
Idk I could care less about the wings or the dyes even (though the dyes look cool). There is a post somewhere on this site with previews. I always get the CE for the art book and well because I'm a collector.
The collectors Ed will rock. I've had one on pre order for yonks. The wings and the behind the scenes stuff is my real motivation for getting it. The USB soulshard with d2 & lod on it is nice too

Well said. I agree that we all have our things. Now I'm still looking for a job and my wish list is pretty big this year: "Diablo 3", "Guild Wars 2" and "Tomb Raider". Oh, and I almost forgot about the deluxe edition of Madonna's new album "MDNA". My funds are rather limited so I have to choose and buying CE means that I will have to remove something from my list and I don't want to do that. And I completely understand your approach towards tangible things. I know that we are able now to buy MP3s and digital games, but there is nothing better than keeping all your favorite games and CDs on the shelf. Looking at my collection always makes me proud and I know that all those things were really worth the money I spent on them.
"D3" CE makes good impression on me, but I will stick to the standard edition.
Then I definitely see where you are coming from, I am definitely a huge Blizzard fan and my game purchases are few so branching out for a game like this becomes a no brainer.

I don't buy CEs of games but this franchise means a tremendous amount to me, so I've already ordered it. Buying it solely for the wings seems kind of silly though, with the amount of other great stuff they toss into it.

CE looks awesome, tons of cool extras, I'm most excited about the art book, DVD, and of course the USB drive/skull. The in-game stuff is just icing on the cake to me.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
I really can't decide whether to preorder the CE or not. I hope that I get in to the beta soon so that I can actually play the game before making my decision.
If you need to try beta before making a decision, then you really aren't a big enough fan of the franchise to buy the CE and I wouldn't recommend it for you. The wings are going to be a different shade of the wings that Demon Hunters get when they pop shadow power. The CE is going to be a good item to have for the music, the behind-the-scenes DVD, etc.
If anyone likes to frequent these forums with whiny posts about how this is not a D2 clone, the $100+ CE is definitely not a good investment.
Edit - Well maybe the CE would be a good investment if you want a D2 clone... You can own a $100 USB stick with a skull on it that has your dear D2 on it!

You are right. But at the end we won't be showing off irl plastic Diablo skulls to each other how will it make you feel, when you see newbies online who are completely new to Diablo and they're using the Wings + CE Dyes in game -- and you, who's playing Diablo since D1 haven't got them? And they are something you can 100% have when you pay some more money. I know that I wouldn't feel too good about that, cause I've been waiting this game for years and that's all I care of and now it just feels wrong to not buy the CE. I will surely drop any other games and stay playing D3 so I do need to have Everything :S.
And to be honest, I am not even sure if I have CE in my local shop at the release day. And if I have all the money for it at that date. So I don't care, I will even wait for 1-2 weeks max if needed but I HAVE to buy CE just for the wings and dyes.
Don't ask me what sense my post makes, I hope you can feel me..!
Makes plenty of sense and I do feel you. I'm a sucker for concept art in bulk. Plus they threw a guide in for an extra ten dollars. I won't actually use it, but it'll be nice to thumb through for fun. I just wish the flash drive included D1. The set is an extremely good deal, and I'm contemplating buying a second and selling it a few years down the road. Not sure about that, just yet.
