I have never understood why people get upset or depressed over things like this. Its only a game and you will still be able to play it when it comes out. A plus to not getting into the beta is that everything will be new right when you start playing the game instead of you having played the first little area so often you know it like the back of your hand. Just go read a book or do something else while you wait for the game to come out. Its not the end of the world that you're not in the beta.. and a year after the game is released, it wont matter whether you were in the beta or not.
Why should i want the appetizers, when i have the patience to wait for the main course?
«Nondum matura est: nolo acerbam sumere»
To continue with your diner analogy, an appetizer is just a little taste, something to line your stomach with so you can sit back and enjoy a leisurely meal without gorging yourself out of starvation. I think the beta is a great way to get a feel for how you are going to play the full game upon release. I want to play the wizard, which if this class was an appetizer would probably be a light salad or perhaps a bread dip.
I'm going into all these contest with the I won't win mindset, because I won't. Thats clear as day.
So whats left is some venting on the forums and after that just waiting and more waiting... you know kind of like I did every damn day since 6 months ago.
And then when it gets released, it's no sleeping time. I just hope it gets released before summer. I have no AC and I don't enjoy grinding in 40°c in my room.
I suggest you take a summer holiday in the southern hemisphere.
Yeah I've entered all these competitions as I'm quite sure no beta keys were released to SEA region, so these small few with these ridiculous contests where most of the times bots of some kind win them due to the sheer stupidity of their setups were the slight chance available.
Ah well.
It seems all the best MMOs are just about to launch yet none have, there are many betas again yet no invites there either heh oh well.
If you don't win a beta key who cares in the grand scheme of things? (For the record I haven't gotten it yet either) Let's be honest 9 out of 10 folks who say oh I deserve to be in the beta I'll test 10 times harder than everyone else and submit bugs!! Are lying out their teeth just like the majority most want in to play it.
Would it be great to get in the beta and try it out and see if there's anything we (the players) can do to make it better? Absolutely! But lets face the facts.
Beta every day is getting closer to a conclusion the fact they are giving away keys now to sites says they are nearing the end. (just a means for some publicity) Is it worth raging over not getting in beta when honestly it's very short in the content offered. If anything I worry that this won't come back to haunt them if the rest of the game isn't as polished/mass tested for bugs. I'll be just as happy personally logging in at midnight of release day for the first time for my toon that will be mine always as if I won that elusive beta key. You guys should be too.
Are you saying that you don't have a beta key? I can't believe that a moderator doesn't have one, they should have one...
Yeah, I never got one it's not like DiabloFans gets 300 beta keys, and we keep 50 for staff (and our friends or something) and only give 250 for you guys.
From the start till now, I think we only got like 10 staff beta keys (not sure, don't quote me on this), mostly for news posters (so they can post news, uh? :P)
Some people in the staff got in through other means as well (other fansites, opt-in).

You sir have significantly added to the credibility of this forum by informing me and others of this. Though i still wish you were required to have 1 post before contest started to be eligible if even moderators are looking for keys it passes the smell test and doesn't seem dirty. Have you played the beta through a friend?
Yeah, I got a friend who has access (through opt-in) and I've played twice in his house, with a Wizard and a Barbarian (once before patch 13 and once afterwards).
I don't mind it that much, I didn't join the staff to get beta keys (although it was a couple weeks before beta started), I'm just a Diablo fan, DFans user for a long time, that likes keeping this forum a nice place to come when you want to discuss something, pretty much like most of you guys, I've just "got the powah" and time to do it
Care about testing game ? Come on, who r u kidding? We all just want to get a feel of the game(beta) and play for a little while. I myself didnt get one but i certainly know that i wouldnt be looking around for bugs, just play around ofc.
