Yeah it all reeks of another corporate misconception fiasco. They talk about how there's a waning interest, yet then they decide to shut down the one place that still has dedicated fan traffic? This is nearly as bad as their convention pitch for Immortal, it shows they have zero clue about what kind of following their own franchise has and that they don't even give enough of a damn about the IP to invest in it properly.
If you have a place where fans are pushing out new conversations and class builds for a game that is now SEVEN YEARS OLD, that in and of itself proves there is still viability for it. I hate seeing a place like this close up just because a bunch of executives speed skimmed a financial report and then threw the word down the chain so haphazardly that everyone suddenly thinks the Diablo fanbase is a dying horse.
I think you may be misunderstanding something. DiabloFans is run by Curse - not Blizzard.

I've been around the game since diablo (yep, the original) hit the market. i've only recently resumed playing, pulled back in by my kids. This was one of the first sites they referred me to as I struggled to ramp up. I've been impressed for the brief time I've been here, and am sorry to see you go. Bon voyage!
going to miss this insane site and all the insane people i met on it over the years. i used to post on this site as a kid back when it was diablo3.com, i can't believe it became the biggest diablo news site. this site went so far, i love you all 8)))))
This is pretty bittersweet for me, I have been on this site since the very beginning, well close to it anyways, I will always remember all the fun moments we use to have on this site, from the Easter Egg hunt, to staying up late on iiRC decrypting the new splash pages from Blizzard, and being super freaking excited when Molster announced that Blizzard was buying the Diablo3.com IP when we had to change to Diablofans.com.
So I would like to personally thank @Molster for giving me a chance to mod for all these years, and although I have not been not super active these last few years in the forums, I have still logged on every single day to make sure all those pesky bots were perma banned.
I would love to still be a part of the Diablo Community in one form or another, I'm sure you will all be seeing me around at some point!
I've been a member of this forum for more than 11 years... I'm truly sad this is happening, I guess I knew sometime it would, but it's still shocking. I'll really miss this place and it will always have a spot in my bookmarks
First of all - a massive thank you to everyone. The admins, the mods, the newswriters and the community! You were all awesome!
Secondly... Let's face it - this was bound to happen. With Diablo 3 on life support, I imagine a lot of people expected some real Diablo news at Blizzcon. What we got was a mobile game - an announcement that to many, including myself, felt like a huge kick in the balls. Now that the emotions have finally cooled down, I imagine quite a lot of people simply gave up on Diablo and walked away from the franchise.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it - Diablo Immortal was the final nail in this site's coffin. I'm not saying it's going to be a bad game or that it's going to flop - in fact, regardless of how good it is, I strongly believe it will be a massive financial success, but the amount of damage Immortal's announcement has done to the existing Diablo fanbase is staggering and the whole thing will definetely be remembered as one of the biggest Blizzard PR blunders in history.
And to be perfectly honest, I don't have high hopes for Diablo - hell, I'm close to not having any hopes at all, but I'm willing to give Blizzard one last chance - I'm going to wait and see what "other Diablo projects" they supposedly have in the works. Some part of me wishes that they reveal a truly marvelous D4, but if all they have to show is more mobile, insignificant patches, remasters or non-PC-gaming products, this might as well be the year where I finally give up on Diablo, forever.
Truth be told, I'm scared - scared of knowing what they have in store, because a part of me still hopes they will turn it around and I'm afraid that this naive part of me will once again get burned. It's sad that I won't have this site and its awesome community to lean on as this scary reveal draws closer.
I think Diablofans deserved a couple more months - just to wait and see what this year brings and if the announcements we were promised are any good or not, Because - as I've said, I hope that Blizzard can somehow turn this around and that this site might yet return.
So... Fellow Diablo Fans, may we meet again one day. See ya'! :-)
Big thanks to the Mods, Admins and the countless contributors for the awesomeness this site had to offer the past several years.
As stated above, I too fear D:Immortal will be the final nail in the coffin for the Diablo series, which I as have many in these forums have enjoyed for many years since Diablo (1) was initially released.
I may have had my head in the sand up until now believing to myself that D3 has a lot of life left in it (its does, doesnt it?). Now, the harsh reality of the naysayers could come to be in the foreseeable future.
So, to all the great folks that contributed all the greatness and those who corrected any challenges this site may have seen to allow the rest of us to succeed, I lift a beverage to your hard work and dedication to those of us that still play daily.
I too am really saddened by the shutting down of Diablofans. Its a very sad time for all of us. I really have had an awesome time creating build guides and helping and being helped on Diablofans. I will not soon forget the wonderful resource that is Diablofans. I also just want give you Bagstone a really big shoutout. Thank you so much for all the hard work and contributions you have made to Diablofans and the Diablo 3 community over the many years. You and Diablofans have enriched our Diablo 3 experience. Thanks everyone, I hope you all continue play and enjoy Diablo 3 for many more years to come.
