I have no idea if Blizzard would ever implement this, but I can't be the only player that has gotten a bit bored with the crazy overpowered trend with all sets. Sure, I have enjoyed the Sunwuko set in particular. But, does it make me a better player? No. It's the set that has simply been ramped up. And the sets are just tossed to us free from Headrig making the season journey way too short because of the power.
So, here's an idea -- one that I am imposing on myself for next season. I am going to do a Manald Heal/Electrocute wizard build that I am testing right now that is so fun. No set bonuses. A green item here and there is fine, but I cannot have any bonuses from two or more of the same set. I simply want to see how far I can push this build and I am going to go Hardcore as well. So, it would be nice if Blizzard would offer leaderboards for GRs cleared with no set bonuses. Or start a special season/league called Iron Man -- hardcore only/no set bonuses. Just talking out loud here.
I know Leviathan started the Solo self-found league thing, maybe this idea could also be tracked by him or another popular streamer.
I could not agree more with your philosophy, Sameto97. The way everything scales off weapon damage and set bonuses vs. the D2 way of investing points into the skills themselves is just...weird.
Tried a full LoN arcane build on the PTR with no augments and i was able to clear a GR105 first try, it definately has potencial.
If LoN stays the same and tal'rasha gets a slight nerf it could mean the most balanced season yet (for Wizards at least).

So you're going to restrict yourself to LoN builds or absolutely no set at all? LoN should be alright since it's getting a buff in the next patch.
And I think you mean season 16.
I might actually give this a go myself because frankly I just don't like any set for any class except for the Unhallowed DH.
There are loads of Wizard builds I enjoy but no sets for them. So LoN would at least improve them a little.
And may the odds be ever in your favour.
