why? ^^ don't be so conservative, you don't even know how it works yet. as a designer myself, i trust them to make good decisions for the game they are some of the best game designers in the world

seems there is 5 pictures of 5 different kind of "runes" so this is definitely the new rune system!

Haha, that first pic looks cheesy, but I hope that reddit post was right. I don't want to have to do runs just to drop a single rune.

Wow that is pretty cool. I'd +1 you... but for some reaosn it hasn't been working lately. I can't even fathom what those symbols mean... but i know theres 4 and they seem to look like the difficulties maybe?
wow that is interesting... don't know what to make of the first screenshot. Could be achievement icons, or it really is the new skill system. :0 but the shape of the pieces of shard make no sense or resemble anything that would show what it does so idk... interesting indeed and he has SS dated for today as well.
this looks amazing! i'm even more excited about the beta now. i haven't played any yet, but i've watched quite a few gameplay videos, and if this really is a new rune system, then good! this thing looks just plain wonderful! it looks like d2's runes but better. just like it should be in my opinion.
The rune system looks good, if it is so. That runes are non longer going to be physical trading items. I agree with their decision, because it allows the player to use the skills intended to be used. Not wait until you are rich enough to buy, trade or find the rune you really want.
So there are 5 types of rune, each with 5 levels. Good so far, predictable. But what is the X supposed to be? It has levels as well. Could it be a "random effect from the other 5 runes" or something similar? What the hell is it? :/
Wow...skill runes really are just going to unlock as you level...lame.
Oh god let's hope not. I doubt it would come to this. Point of Diablo is finding items in the world, then putting them to use! The old system of runes fit this mold perfectly...
I doubt they would make runes unlock as you level, because that would make them too similar to the skills (passive and active) themselves. This would be a bad thing, and a serious problem, as runes are the major selling point for the game (imho).

Playing a Wizard. Looking for Demon Hunters to play with.

Agreed, I liked the random drop system. This is why I shouldn't follow a games development, get so used to the idea of how something will work only to have it changed later down the road :/, the price you have to pay I guess.

consider the idea of you choosing 2 skills every level to unlock runes in, or improve?
at least, is looks very different and i already like it more then the "drop rune" idea
