Lots of good stuff in here. Liked Saljen's Elemental Knight.
Firstly, I loved the Necro, and I don't think he actually played like the WD will, but...
Assuming the Necro doesn't come back, I started thinking about some of the power sources in Diablo. The folks at Blizz are certainly not afraid of creating entire new pantheons or fields of magic to support a class, but I find that the limits are what define lore and make it interesting. One of the things I like about the monk is that he's not using a new source of power (holy angel juice), just a different way to access and implement it.
With that in mind, I was thinking of ways to re-use the god of the necros, but in a new way.
Imagine a dark eyed Arabic man with long black hair tied back into a tail. His face and body covered in intricate, curving black and maroon tattoo patterns shaped like those of the Maori warriors. On his back he carries a bundle of short throwing javelins. His main weapon a hoplite spear, with a small round shield covered in the markings of the dragon for protection.
As servants of the dragon, these warriors would have power over the cycle of life and death, giving breath to golems of earth, light, blood and shadow, as well as calling back the shades of the fallen who would serve by strengthening the warrior, or cursing his enemies.
Like the Rathmians, he would also be able to use the bones of the dead in his defense, as well as the teeth and claws of the dragon to supplement his abilities with the spear.

As far as mechanics go,
- summons golems and shades
- shades don't fight, but act as curses or buffs in an area around the point of casting (imagine a temporary aura around a cast point)
- bone magic similar to the necro
-combat skills focussed on the shield, spear and javelin
I would imagine a resource tied to the life cycle. Something like the death of enemies and summons provides his resource.
That was a fun thought. Nobody reads long posts this many pages in though.
I am sure that Blizz will give us two new classes, one old one new.
Old class is great to give back some memories to old Diablo players,
and new class for experimenting with something new (probably by expansion is out,
most players will try every class).
soo lets see what archetype is sort of missing from blizzard games. the druid and necro class is not convincing enough yet, if I d have to guess something its a shape shifting based class that might also have summons.
Its a long read, but give it a chance and you won't regret it
Introducing the Dreadnite:The Impending Nightfall of the Burning Hells
"The Paladins of the Zakarum, once the paragon of hope in the dreaded lands of Sanctuary were a beacon of light that swept through darkness and vanquished the bane of life. However, with the fall of the church and the destruction of worldstone, they were thinned in number as demons and cultists alike had sought them for vengeance. Not all of them had been as lucky as the Templar who managed to escape with the help of valiant heroes. Under submission, they have been subjected to dark magics unspeakable to the most powerful of wizards, the goal was simple, to transform the banes of evil into its foremost champions. Ones that had already been weakened in their faiths were turned to ruthless killing machines wielding demonic power as of their own. However, those who had not submitted break free in the wake of their new power, more of an abomination of dark energy, only seeking vengeance against those who had made him/her, and a being that matched the power of the lieutenants of the seven.
The Dreadnite is born, and vengeance on the evil has been sworn..."
Think of a shield and heavy armor wielding Warlock that can subdue lesser demons and transform into a form resembling greater demons, while can hold his/her ground against the hordes of demons as an indomitable fortress. Analogous to a combination of Death Knight and Warlock, yet much more anti-hero.
However, it should be noted that, contrary to DKs who want to be redeemed or Warlocks that pact with demons for greater power and for protection the of their land/nation/faction, this class of "hero" is a pure manifestation of hatred and vengeance, a being that won't stop until the Burning Hells cease to exist.
As a sidenote, don't confuse this with a Demon Hunter, who only really hunt demons for vengeance and are pretty much righteous in their cause and such, whereas, a Dread Knight is a demonic abomination and a killing machine, anything between them and a demon is only an obstacle to be cleared.
"A Dreadnite will not stop until the Burning Hells cease to exist"
I actually have a dedicated topic for it, and you can check the EU and US forum entries for the class as well, where I had responded regarding more detail on class.
TL;DR:
- Can subsude demons as pets as long as they are not of the seven and scales with level.
- Can consume the demon to empower itself and transform into a trancendant demon, again works similar to subdue mechanic.
- Can wield a scepter and shield for protection, corrupts the armor to increase its protection rate for the cost of lowered offensive power.
I would love for them to bring back the Druid, and maybe a younger warrior type. But I do think it would be neat if they thossed in an Arch angel class or a cross over demon. Just something to change up the game abit. But thats just me.
When you look at the current classes we have 3 ranged, and 2 melee classes already. I'm going to guess the next class to be very rogue-like, a Theif would probably fit this role perfectly.
Theif = Hood/Cowl, some type of dagger or quick weapon, some kind of pouch or something that has smoke bombs/poisons etc.
Barbarian = Mighty Belts, One-Handed Mighty Weapons, Two-Handed Mighty Weapons
Demon Hunter = Hand Crossbows, Quivers, Cloaks
Monk = Fist Weapons, Diabo, Spirit Stones
Witch Doctor = Voodoo Masks, Ceremonial Knives, Mojos
Wizard = Orbs, Wands, Wizard Hats

Agreed completely
