This is completely ridiculous... All WoW expansions have had a 5-6 month beta. You REALLY think Blizzard's gonna let Diablo 3's beta run for over a year? -.- Comeon...
It was a fk up on their part. It shouldnt have lasted anywhere near as long as it has, but they promised beta and had to deliever. This is a single player game, and the playerbase isnt even allowed to view the majority of it. The beta was never even needed.
Well guys I hate to be a broken record but I'll repeat myself for a fourth time and maybe now it will sink in. D3 won't be released till after mop. I'm guessing they made this business decision after missing the 2011 deadline. There is no way in hell (pardon the pun) they'll release Diablo within a month or so of MOP release, the potential revenue loss to mop is too great.
A month or so after MOP you'll see a D3 release, afterall they want you buying the wow expansion and if you're busy playing D3 your less inclined to bother with it, but they know you'll buy d3 no matter what.
The main problem here, however, is that most WoW players that are Diablo players got the WoW Annual Pass so they will have WoW and a free copy of Diablo 3. Releasing MoP and D3 will not harm WoW in the least, and WoW is their cashcow. Diablo 3, however, may be hurt if it is released too close to MoP, but not by much. (Again, the Annual Pass is helping them with that.)
The game was practically finished even back then....They essentially polished the game so hard it dmg'd the underlying structure, and they remade the game.
You just got lucky.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
> Blizzard sucks
> Blizzard makes awesome games though
> They make us wait
I don't get this train of thought; if Blizzard is such a good company, why wouldn't you give them a break when they're trying to make the best game they can?
inb4 "IF THEY'RE THE BEST, WHY CAN'T THEY RELEASE A GAME ON TIME?!?!?!11"

Blizzard is like one of those girls that plays hard to get. They treat you like crap, you complain to your buddies, then you get some action and its fine.

My issue here is that they are not developing the 'meat and potatoes' of the game anymore. They've already had 2 build of the game to do that and the mechanics of the game are in place. The issue now is adjusting values to make everything balanced and fun. What makes me facepalm a little is that bizzard knows damn well they will be changing a lot of the things they are changing right now again, once the game is released. They will try and try but they don't know how people are going to play and abuse the game, so a lot of the work they did is just delaying the game further because chances are things will continue to change.
The game is done I doubt they are working on anything new at all, just calibrating the game. If they were to come out and say we are working on new skills or working on making more new awesome items it would shut everyone up instantly and put a smile on our faces. But no, they aren't doing anything new and taking their sweet time. I still think we are going to be waiting longer than we anticipate, when you start seeing ads on the Internet for D3 (if they are going to make ads) then we will know the time is nearing.

The problem is they keep radically changing things, which in turn means any time spent balancing things is wasted.
Even from when I played beta, as brief as it twas, there were some radical changes.
Casters not using wpn dmg.
Casters using wpn dmg.
DH resource system change.
And now they did a complete overhaul of the stats.
Each one of those decisions radically changed the balance of the game. And the last one, lolz, that completely undid any balancing work they did up to that point.

I have to say, be patient.
In this troblesome economic times all around the world Blizz are trayng to seal a pretty good income for the next atleast 5 years (So communist planed market).
So the game will be realy well polished and especialy after they cut so many new things from the game.
They will add later in patches (may be DLCs) and Exp just to sell.
The RMAH, BBalance and pretty more to come that have to deal with the drop in WoW subscriptions.
Everyting is money.
It doesent matter when they will relese tha game but what game they will relise:
1. A one time turn for most
2. Or N times turn for the next 10 years or so.
Your different colored texts confuses, and slightly angers me.

Ok well that makes no sense at all....
If it was just about steady profits they would have already released the game to start raking in those 'n's.
From my perspective all the polishing hasn't made the game any better imo. I have not seen one dramatic improvement since the beta started months ago. All the things they have done could have easily been worked into patches.

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)
Who knows.... really.... what the real reasons are ?
In the end I still think Blizzard is not an efficient company when it comes to a quality/time ratio. I have always though that way, all their game took a long time, new WoW content takes forever, starcraft 2 first expansion is now more than 2 years away from original etc... Their games are excellent but not perfect either
In the end they still deliver great games but you cannot expect them to deliver on time or quickly, that's a default of this company and it really get through only because of its reknown and because they are kings for years in online gaming.
Blizzard is the George Martin (Game of Thrones, SoIaF) of video games for me You always want the next book but you gotta wait a long time and wonder what the hell is he doing.

Not flaming, but ALL you've seen in the beta. These changes affect every single part of the game. People can yell about how long it's taking them, but you can't ignore the fact they are one of, if not the most successful gaming company in history.
from late 2006, minus a year for working on SC2 only, to now, i'ts only been a little over 4 years. This is nowhere near unheard of for really great, in depth games. It's just because we troll these forums day by day that it feels longer. It'l be out soon, and barring unforeseen catastrophes will be out in less than 4 months, at the most. I think we can wait 16 weeks.
I hope the game releases as soon as it possibly can like the most of you feel, but playing beta over and over has really taken me off edge and I'm not as rabid for a release date. The game is wonderful so far, but you can only kill the SK so many times before boredom sets in.
