Unquestionably. I get tired of the "Diablo is dead" trolls when they cannot take the time and look and see for themselves that something is clearly in the pipeline... https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/openings/oDSe5fwy
One of the fears I have for the franchise is the glacial pace of development. Say you started playing D2 as a teenager, when it first started. Well, now, you’re probably in your thirties, and how much longer are you going to stay invested in the “someday”?
im almost 50, started playing D2 in 2001. Started playing WoW in 2006 and that game kept me going because of content updates until D3’came out. But now I’m more or less done with the WoW hamster wheel, and I feel like I can’t be the only one frustrated by the dearth of news on Diablo. the game should have a way more accelerated production time line to help keep the player base engaged.

You're not wrong. I think it's just a numbers problem. They even outright said getting the Necromancer pack out was a labor of love--the Diablo team was the smallest at some point, although I'm not sure now with Hearthstone (which may require more or fewer people to output content due to its format, idk).
Diablo was never a big profit margin for them. All of them were widely known in their times, but the brand doesn't seem to hold the same playerbase no matter how much more they throw in it, and it's already a small team. I think either what they're planning to do or what they're working on is figuring out how a small, niche aesthetic, multiplayer game with almost no microtransactions and few installments fits into their larger portfolio of highly profitable, AAA games that drive player culture and larger game development trends. Really all I want is the dark, gritty, simple dungeon diver that 1/2 were, but we're probably not going back to that.
Yeah, would be cool to see more of the item hunt and max level seem so far away but you eventually get there. It's what made stuff worthwhile in the 1st two. Because either you got a really cool item, or you finally hit that next level. Where d3 lost its mark is itemization and getting to 70 is a joke. So I'm hoping we see dark, gritty, great music from the 1st two. Along with nice qol implementations and combat from d3. I've gotten my monies worth from d3 but at this point I feel it doesn't excite me because you're never searching for a new item. Just the same set piece, with better stats. I hope they pull together and give the franchise something great. Otherwise I'm all for other arpgs to come along. I don't feel like there is a ton of them. Be interested to see if lost ark actually comes to fruition

And I get tired when people's only defense is calling others a troll, while they themselves don't reply with anything of substance.
Diablo 3 is absolutely dead, and considering it's the latest game, it's fair to say that right now, Diablo is dead. Hopefully if there's a D4 it gets revived.
A lot of the frustration that you see from me and others, is with Blizzard themselves. From the outside looking in, they've turned far too corporate. Years and years ago, they were able to get away with not giving any information, and taking an agonizingly long time with everything they did. That time is over now, and not only do the players know that, MANY of their key people do as well, hence why we keep seeing top management jumping ship. And not even jumping ship in the sense of going straight over to another company, they start there own!
If Blizzard IS working on something else, they need to speak up. It's borderline insulting to not JUST get nothing in terms of news, but to have to deduce it ourselves such as Blizzcon, again, not having anything Diablo related. And while I'm not yet close to 50 as Ulthrakk is, I can say I feel the same way; Blizzard needs to accelerate.
And @ LTR; I only said I wouldn't really be excited at D4 news as a defense mechanism, because I most likely know how it'l go down;
*D4 is (hopefully) announced
*D4 releases around... 2020. Maybe.
*D4 has extremely limited content, with the promise of an expansion down the road.
*The first expansion comes out in... 2022. Maybe.
*And Blizzard has learned nothing from their giant pendulum swing of D3, and D4's endgame consists of timed (!) rift style content that doesn't have any real loot hunt in it, because you're giving all your loot at the start of the f@#$ing season... which of course it won't launch with seasons, that'l be another feature added a year later.
I WANT to be excited, but it's like Blizzard has grown far too gigantic for their own good. One move takes a million parts to turn, and they're so scared of making a mistake they instead do nothing, which is worse.
Rant over. I'll probably check this site again in a week when I'm bored, and the top 4 threads will still have a reply from a week ago on the front page.
*quick edit*; DiabloFans, your forum post editor is complete garbage.

I agree with you. I just hope they have people in place that see a big future for the franchise.
