I think the thing I'm missing the most is detailed skill tooltips. The simplified ones remove all of the useful information (like how much damage the skill does) and pressing ctrl all the time to see this is a bit annoying. I think this change is a bit silly, but if they really want to keep it they should add an option to disable it.
If I didn't already know which spells did more damage - and the obvious fact that more resource cost usually means more damage - then I'd have to literally get the skill out and try it to see how much damage it did because of these simplified tooltips. But I didn't know about the ctrl function so thanks for that.
Do they expect the average person to seriously be that dumb? I've never played an mmo before and a few days ago I started with swtor, and I'm glad each skill is explained to me. The damage that is dealt, the range that you can use it, the aoe effect it has etc. These stats were much more useful than "spell that causes damage" and "another spell that causes fire damage".
I feel that swtor is "big" and thus people that are new to it are affraid its complicated. Thats why they have skills that explain stuff for you.
Blizzard have a super hyped (or had one) that gets the feeling of being "big" but not THAT BIG. This will make people think: "Sure I could play this, maybe.." and seeing others on youtube, friends or family playing will grow on them.
It is something Blizzard are hoping to establish, some kind of aha-experience "this is very easy!". Easy game will drag more new people from Angry Birds into the world of Diablo.
Its perhaps one of those details Blizzard feel they need to do when we have this hard gaming market. I dont think its about being "dumb" or not.
Scroll of companion removal is the worst thing ever. Now i have to walk over to every pile of gold and just run in circles, it's so pointless. If you don't want a furry pet make a demon or something that fact it was removed is just stupid. And I hate that now magics drop less often, they feel so useless anyway. i just salvage them to get subtle essences so i can make better gear than i'll ever find in beta. Other than that everything is okay, oh and I FUCKING HATE THE NEW CHARACTER TAB. Why did they have to combine it with the inventory? It was literally perfect the way it was before, showed DPS resistances, all stats Char level and exp to next level... now its just words that show DPS and Stats without an explanation of the stat. pointless.

And thats why there is less drops of them.. Because they actually are useful. Later in the game anyways.
Companion scrolls and more detailed tooltips. Besides that it plays pretty well.
I still see the scrolls on the battle.net D3 site, they just got moved to later in the game right?
The item site isn't always up to date because they're still working on itemization.
If the companion scroll removal is so dreadful for people, they should start stacking +Pickup Radius, You know, the stat nobody really cared for initially
I could give a blank about actual radius, I like the idea of a random small animal to pick up gold for me, it in no way ruined my diablo experience, and I thought it was a pretty adult way to add pets *if* you wanted them. Idk I'm a little butthurt it's gone, and I hope it's not because people were just whining.

"A adult way to add pets" sounds like a really bad type of porn. And no, theres nothing adult in rabbits picking gold for ya while you're fighting demons in hell.

Lol very true, but my argument would be, if you don't like them don't use them =D The overwhelming majority liked em, and I hope they keep em =P
Reading through the patch notes, I remembered something about wandering merchants. I haven't ran into any yet in the beta, does anyone have any info on them? Are they in new tristram, or even in the beta?
To me, it's a little weird that using your blacksmith to make stuff does not level him up; but bribing him with coin will do that. Having him craft items should increase his level a little bit at least. The pages of training made far more sense - and it ensured that your blacksmith would level along with you - instead of just being able to do a few runs and get him to level 4 in no time at all.
Are they in new tristram, or even in the beta?
I assumed they were referring to the fence and the collector inside Tristram. I haven't seen any vendors out wandering around.
I havn't read the entire discussion here, but was the "companien scroll" an item to summon your mercenary? Are they removed from the game?
Scroll of Companion summons a random little creature (chicken/snake/rabbit/etc) that runs around and picks up gold for you. They have nothing to do with the mercenaries (which are now called "Followers" in D3).
On Topic: I never really used the scrolls of companion before. I just never bothered to open up my inventory and click scrolls to summon them while I was out killing stuff. Maybe they should take away another skill button to make a dedicated hotkey for them ;-)
Probably.

And defiantly miss companion scrolls hopefully they are just finding a different way to implement them
