I had a question about the "moon physics". What determines whether an opponent will get launched off the screen? I hope it has something to do with the amount of overkill (which I will define as: The amount of extra damage done to a creature after killing it eg: dealing 100 dmg to a monster with 10 hp has more overkill than dealing 100dmg to a monster with 99 hp).
If it is simply off weapon power (like Hammer of ancients or bash tend to send mobs flying more than frenzy or cleave would) than I see a small problem which may arrise. While I love "moon physics" in this game, I would hate for it to trigger after killing diablo, or the siege breaker or some other huge baddass. It would just be cheasy (maybe good for a laugh, but it will ruin the awesome feeling of it).
Other factors which should be considered are monster weight or something, because even the over kill solution has the potential or a silly situation. Imagine you are fighting the thousand pounder, who has (for arguments sake) 5000 hp. My Barb Hammers for ~ 500 damage. My penultimate blow leaves the thou pou on 1 hp, and I then hammer him. Thats a lot of overkill. Granted, there is a much smaller chance of this happening for mobs with high hp, who would fall under the "should never be launched" category.
My personal view of how they should do it is the kill should have high overkill, and be achieved in one shot. Does anyone know the requirements for launching?

Interesting question indeed, but I doubt that Blizzard would leave it programmed like this - Diablo to fly off screen - it just doesn't seem like something Blizzard would let happen in their game.
I believe the moon physics are also barbarian only. It was the thing they added to make the barbarian feel "awesome".
I also believe the killing blow needs to do more damage then the creature's total hit points before it can be launched. Which allows crits to have a bigger chance of launching mobs because the damage is higher.
But this is guessing because I'm not in the beta...
Haven't thought about it like that tbh. The only time I've seen moon physics in action is with one shot shots...maybe it's similar than a monster having 1hp and you to the final 500damage to it. This is a question that can only get answered by some blue I think...so go post it on Battle.net if you're adamant for an answer.

Well that will suck...barbarian smarshmarian. What about the monk's Lashing Tail Kick for instance? If he roundhouse kick a fallen with a one shot crit I would want to see him flying!!!
I'm pretty sure the physics of death animations in game is different for the variations of monsters. You will find that specific mobs such as bosses ascertain to their own death animation that is distinguished from average mobs, this also will apply for champions, elites, so forth. Take for example The Skeleton King, there are no moon physics applied in his case. =)

Of course. I should have thought of this. Boss deaths have special animations. Thanks for that, I feel better now :).
PS: I have seen moon physics from a demon hunter's bola shot, it is certainly not exclusive to the barb.
