Needing a place for boxes and manuals while they "finish" the game, isn't really that weird.
And regarding "going gold"; that doesn't hold that much meaning anymore. Blizzard could easily print the CDs and go "oh, we're just gonna fix this problem here and get it ready for patch before shipping".
except in this case, its not about "storing" them, they wouldnt do that cross country unless it was to set everything up. If we also want to read this article at face value it says "to be shipped out to other stores"
I agree, as I said in previous post, about them just patching something in, so even if/when they do show up at stores it does not mean "much" to an exact date.
Of course this is all saying "if" this is real...which we still have no proof =P
at least with those lame manuals we had pics
Ill add some waiting to your waiting so you can wait while you wait.
you forgot 'yo dawg we heard...'
but seriously, none of this matter to me [and I'm saying to me specifically in this forum] until all the crap with the GRB is resolved. And the recent news that I'm hearing is not making me feel optimistic.
Im really done with any release date hype until Blizzard announces it. I've always known Blizzard would announce it to us before retailers and such, but everytime I hear news like this, I'd get excited a release date is soon. but that...... that never comes.

(this build was before D3 launched... looking back on it now - i had no idea what i was doing)

True, but i still doubt they will start printing the disks before they are finished with the rune system.
They could easily produce and ship the disc and then just patch in the Rune system changes, the game is requiring an always online connection. Seems reasonable if you wanted to hit a release date and pretty much had your plan laid out for the changes.
Have you ever been playing wow? Remember of the famous "patch day no play"?
I doubt they will take the risk to launch the game with the idea of patching it the same day. It's just to risky.
Even if they have the wow experience about servers capacity, they want players to be able to play the first day.
they do like toy do in wow these days release patch a few days early like 2-3 days (or even more, why not?), then most ppl will have it done by release/patch day. and therefore it will go allot smoother then patch day in WoW vanilla

its not risky out all... your comparing two massively different system. To add to this, The servers will already be patched well before we are installing the game, they will already know if it works or not. It won't be an issue.

Well most of the content will be on the CD, I doubt some fixes here and there will take that much patch-time. Though I didn't play with wow, SC2's patches didn't take long time to download, and D3 will not recieve content patches on release, that's for sure.
I was mostly thinking of the "millions players trying to login at the same time" and trying to download the patch.
thats not an issue, you are not downloading from blizzard, you are downloading from the akamai servers which are made for this, along with the clients built in P2P
and D3 will not recieve content patches on release, that's for sure.
thats not for sure, we have no way to know. If they really are producing cds (which... who knows) and systems are done, they will need to add content.
I highly doubt they will add any significan graphics or music changes, and in most gamepatches these take the most space. Since the runes and their effects most likely will be on the CD, they don't need to patch that into the game. But you are right, that there is a chance, so I let me reword it to unlikely.
At least with this, "I'm Waiting for Diablo", it's me cutting into a cake with a knife. But this also means I'm getting fatter.
And every time I think, "I'm not going to worry about the release date" someone posts news of some kind.... And like an idiot I have to look. *weep*
Someday... someday...
