It seemed game was postponed again, but if Bio says they are still aiming at Q1, its nice to hear.
However in the next post Bio said "we're in the process of working on some rather large game system changes". So game was done 3 months ago, but more polish was needed... and they repeated "polishing" 100x, and now they're doing "large game system changes"? I hope its just pre-emptive PR damage control in case additional delays happens. But if Blizz is indeed working on it as it sounds, game WILL be delayed
Bio? Wrong company Blizz you mean. Stop reading swtor (or ME3) forums at the same time
My feeling on this whole matter is that they won't announce release dates until the actual game DVD's are being mass copied, boxes and materials are being produced, etc. Basically, mass production and shipments to retailers being the final steps remaining.
Anyone who expects the game to be out before deep in the summer months (think August/September) is fooling themselves. There's still plenty of work to be done on this game from the looks of it. We were fools to think that a 2011 release was even remotely possible.
I also don't expect Morhaime to say anything revealing during the next call. Everyone should just keep themselves preoccupied with other games, work, life, whatever. I've stopped checking the site because there's so many spoilers about.

Wanna bet that it will be out before the end of Q2 (Q2 ends at the end of July) ?
Didn't they (Blizzard) say that the game could be released right now (as in the game is "finished")? The main reason it's not is because they weren't happy with a few of the core systems (Runestones) and wanted to try some different iterations.
Based on that, I think that a Q1 release is still very plausible. I'm going with my original estimate of: Announcement on Feb. 28 for a release date of March 27.
There are too many financial risks involved for Blizzard with not releasing the game in Q1. It would affect such things like the annual pass (I'd cancel WoW right now if the game is outside the agreement and I'm sure tons of other people would too) and really screw up investor return for the year.
They need the game out ASAP, the RMAH working as intended, etc. to maximize profits for this year. Bean counters run our country, and the only thing that truly matters are the numbers at the end of the day, end of the month, end of the year. Investors only care about their return, and their return only gets bigger when the money starts flowing in sooner the better.
I'm ok with them not having a date yet. You know when I'll be really pissed? If ME3 and Diablo3 suddenly come out within 2 weeks of each other.
2 of my most anticipated games and both are going to be very time consuming. The ideal for me is if D3 came out about 1- 1 1/2 months after ME3. Then would be very very happy.
Till then I think SWTOR can satisfy all my gaming hours.
Me too. My company operates this way, and it disgusts me. I would think with Blizzard being exponentially larger than my company, the pressure for profits and investor returns, and crap like EBITDA, are much greater.

That's been one of my arguments against Daeity's argument of Korea holding it back in that the rest of the world could be earning RMAH profits, but you seem to be saying that they need to release it Q1 financially no matter what. This has NEVER been the case with Blizzard titles. If it's not as close to perfect as they think they can make it in a reasonable amount of time, it won't be released. If there's flaws that make it not a fun game, they will delay. Bean counters run our world, but bean counters also have their allstars, and they tend to let their allstars run around doing whatever they want. They kind of have to respect the talent that has made them so successful.

That's a fair perspective, too. I personally don't think SK GRB is the sole reason for any delay, but does contribute to some bumps in the road. I guarantee that if Blizzard didn't have the World of Warcraft, which makes that organization a financial all-star, the pressure to pump out D3 would be over the top.
I only compared it to my company because our investors demand a 20% increase to revenues and EBITDA on us each year. If we can't make it, they'll find people who can. I figured that Blizzard's investors would have some kind of financial goal that they have to hit before year's end.
Diablo 3 won't be released before the next Wow expqansion, surely you guys have cottoned onto that by now ... It's about the money guys, and losing Wow sales to newly entrenced diablo fans is not part of the plan.

Why do you think Blizzard created the annual pass? It's so that you continue paying for a WoW account for at least a year in return for a free copy of D3 and some vanity stuff. They also assume people will use the RMAH, so they will only increase their profits, not decrease during the population shift from WoW to D3.

That can be more complicated than that. Blizzard as you stated has a tendency to delay in order to polish things (don't fool yourself, they still release unperfected things). But it's not just for the fun of making a good game and losing development costs, this is Blizzard's mark which if they don't put up to expectations the short-term return might be great while long-term profit will not be good (because of reputation or just long term sells of this particular thing).
This is why they may feel 3-4-5 months more is not a big deal and will be outbalanced by gains in sells and popularity.
About the Korea part, nobody on these forums have any idea financially what it means for Blizzard to make a global launch with Korea or not. Maybe they feel the global launch is better at a cost of 3 months of delay/development, nobody knows. What I'm sure of is they just don't delay the game for no financial reasons.
What I think is a release later than may/june would be a pretty big surprised and I doubt investors will be really happy about so much of a delay.
Also don't forget the game was aimed for 2011, it was not a rumor like 2010 etc. They definetly said it and apologized for it in september. If they push it back to say july/august they REALLy missed their shot.
I'm still confident for a march-april release. Of course Jan/Feb is out of the question though so late Q1 or mid Q2 is the best guess right now.
PLEASE auot-ban people who post release date speculation from venders. PLEASE

Preordering
With preorders for Diablo III possible through a number of online stores, you may be tricked into thinking that retailers have secret, inside information about a release date. This is false.
The release date that you see on any online retail site for Diablo III is a tentative filler date that is not based on anything known or revealed. No release date is known by anyone except Blizzard until the company chooses to announce it to the public, in which case there will be a news thread here on DiabloFans.
while this stickied post in the section your posting in is common sense, it appears your in need of some. there is also a section on forum rules you should brush up on just in case you arent aware of what not to post in this forum.

Sorry I wasn't intending to imply anything by writing first quarter, just an honest mistake. Our official target is still "early 2012". Not sure if it makes too much difference one way or the other, but I don't want people to nitpick a mistake.
Sign of a delay I guess.
yep. if they were going to be done by march he wouldnt of recanted anything. so definitely wont be done by march. bummer man
going to be nuts how such a small hack n slash game is going to be blizzards longest beta in history. they obviously went into beta too soon.

I'm going to invest in a powerful bow, some arrows and a mannequin leg and give myself knee seeking abilities. Then I will visit the top dogs of Blizzard and use my new abilities to force them into a life of being guards in Whiterun.

I can't even imagine... It's amazing how they have managed to suck the fun and excitement out of waiting for a game that we have been wanting almost non-stop since beating Diablo 2: LOD.... Oh man.. sadness x 9001
