Back in S7, as a LeapQuake Barb, I would find Cindercoatalot, I may have seen one Heart of Iron all season. With more gameplay time in hand, as a DH in S10, all I ever seem to seem to find is Heart of Iron. If I gamble ~400 bshards, I'm getting one. Of course, what I want is a Cindercoat! If a leg chest drops, half the time, guess what, HoI again.
Now, apparently, this broken RNG behavior is so well known with high level players that they give advice on what class to gamble an item, I recall someone stating, if you want X use a wizard, they get them all the time.
Now, if there was a no-sets Conquest, that Heart of Iron would be useful (thorns barb does it easy). But I find no reason for a DH to need one.
wtph?
Now Blizz games have a history of wanky PRNG. Back in classic D2, there was a lot of talk about the great values of MF to have, and tons of Blizz denial. Finally, one group published their research on the sweet values, and about 6 weeks later, Blizz did something but never owned up. I see signs of the same things here, double drops of nearly the same leg, etc. Some coders never heard of Knuth.
It's almost like drops based on RNG are random. Who'da funk it.
I don't understand how your relating broken RNG and gambling on other classes. Whats broken about it? Some classes have less boots in there loot table and as such there is a higher chance to get specific boots when gambling... Whats broken about that?
No idea what your going on about MF in D2 either, I played D2 since before expansion and MF always worked the same... There was no ancient conspiracy, you honestly just sound salty that you've not been lucky...
u gotta look at from a game devolper point of view, action, rpgs need filler items if there was no filler items u would litteraly get wat u want every time lol, welcome to the loot pool rng.

Oh, you must have a use for Heart of Iron as a DH!

You didn't play in b4 expansion, the fix went in a few months before. This is back when the originals were still around, not the late arrivals. Anybody that played seriously saw double drops a lot. Lots of posts back on Lurker (RIP)

Well, I see that point. But surely isn't Blackthorns enough fodder/filler? It's just strange that a class seems to have a favored drop, I remember seeing the same thing for other classes, just not the actual names etc. I know that there is a weighting for the legs, this is not about the rarer ones failing to show. Finding Forgotten Souls is a large part of the hated farming side of the game, every useful to enchant/reforge drinks those like water (firehose style).

Necromancer can still gamble and drop magefist and cindercoat and other fire skill specific items even though it has no fire skills.
