yes yes yes, thats a good thing, When playing diablo I always love seeing those bright weirdly coloured unique monsters and explode them like loot pinatas.
I think this is a good thing. It means a better social network for the game for one. I am also a lover of random drops. I like getting random rare items on my own and having them be valuble. I think if bosses dropped the best gear then you would farm them until you were geared out and then that would be it. With this you will be well geared with boss loot, but there will always be better loot out there that you will have to buy, trade, or farm for. I think it will make your character always unfinished to some extent, because there will always be better gear out there, even if you've killed and farmed all the bosses. And I like that, I don't want to complete a character, I want to keep playing it and gearing it up.
I find this to be a very good thing. I didn't mind doing the boss runs in d2 at first, but they got way too repetitive too quickly. Now, one will be able to basically kill demons where ever they choose too and still have the same chance at getting the good loot. Like Act II the best? just run all of Act II over and over. Whatever you want.
And this paired with the fact that you can now redo quests has me very happy. No longer will it just be pure killing after you have gone through all the quests.
Good, because it allows you to explore new areas and challange different mobs for the same chance of getting loot. It also prevents everyone from min/maxing a specific class or spec to farm one boss. Like Maphisto runs in D2.
It is good, but:
I hope boss kills wont be useless, they just shouldn't be better than killing rares/champions.
Would feel kinda stupid if you clear all the rares/champs up to a boss, but don't feel like it is worth it to actually kill the boss as well.
It's good cause as people mentioned you avoid running bosses all over again and the rng element is enhanced cause you never know when you might encounter a rare/monster mob!
It seems kind of ridiculous that something easier to kill than a boss would have better loot, but it does make sense from the developer's standpoint. I kind of liked doing the boss runs in D2, just to see how fast I could do it I guess. I would guess that it will require you to build a character that has a greater range of abilities and such; instead of just maxing out the resistances you would need for one particular boss you will need to be ready for anything.
Bossruns were an important and fun part of D2. However it got boring very quickly, so I think it is good that the developers remove focus from boss-runs to more smooth farming. Why not boss drops = rare and unique drops? Would me more fun imo.
This is a terrible idea and will ruin Diablo. Sorry, but killing bosses should be the hardest and most rewarding aspect of the game. Changing drop rates is not the answer. Game structure and overall design can eliminate boss runs. This is the wrong way to do it
I remember Mephy/Diablo/Baal runs being pretty fun at first... but then I did them hundreds of times, and it got to the point where that's ALL a lot of players did. I'm excited that we're going to have more of an exploration aspect in D3. I think something a lot of people are ignoring is that there will probably be more Champion/Rare monsters in a given zone than bosses, so if they drop better loot, that just means there's more great loot out there than ever before. Sweet!

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
I think this is a slight improvement but only slight. It's just going to change where we farm. Before, you would do a boss run. Now, you avoid the boss and hunt champions/rares. It's a little more interesting but still a bit of a letdown.
I'm not too thrilled that it will cause people to just run through normal trash instead of actually playing the game which is blizzard's goal. Maybe I'll be wrong though, but I can just see wizards teleporting all over the place until they find a rare. Rinse and repeat.
It's been confirmed that Rares and Champions will have a better chance to drop better loot than bosses.
Do you guys see this as a good thing or a bad thing? Or are you indifferent about it?
Its a great thing in my opinion, it removes the tedious boss grind from the game and encourages exploration since rare/champions are randomly placed around the map.
I voted good because i belive it makes you really have to explore the world and try and find every monster out there which i think could be very fun...
I think a better system would be if both champions and bosses dropped better loot BUT they each had something they'd drop more likely. For example, champions could have the best rates for item drops but bosses could have the best rate for dropping runes. Then, the player can decide what they need and where to go. It will be a shame if bosses are ignored in Inferno.
It's a flaw in the system if it discourages killing either champions or bosses.

But there's nothing that discourages either. If you're walking down a ficticious magical street, and you know that there's a box at the end of it with $800 in it, but the there are also potentially boxes scattered around in the side alleys with $1000 in them, are you going to say "screw the $800, I'm going for the thousand!" or are you going to look for $1000 boxes on your way to the $800 one, and get both?
Bosses are in the game to push the story/game forward, i see no reason why they should drop better loot, they drop good loot on the first kill but after that i don't think they should provide better loot then random rares/champions.

One option is discouraged because the other option is clearly better (both easier to find/get to and better drop rates).
To equate it to your analogy I would add the following: The alley with possibly $800 is farther away and in a bad neighborhood known for high crime rates. The alley with $1000 is known for having people randomly dropping their wallet. Which alley would you go after?
It seems like a good idea and Im pretty happy with it. It will be nice not running the same 2-3 places over and over. It would be nice though if bosses still dropped something valuable to give them extended use. Maybe give them a better chance to drop runes or crafting materials or something, but have champions drop gear.
But, we will have to wait and see how the game plays and what happens before I really make any options on about it.
