I know we can kill Diablo I think the correct words was "You can play through the entire game AND kill Diablo" I do belive he is the last boss, but the don't actualle confirm it
But my point was, who says we fight him in hell? HE could be doing some scheming in heaven?
We do have a full playable Alpha state. So, everyone inside the company can play all the way through and kill Diablo.
As you can see from the quote. They are playing a full state of the game that runs all the way through to the end, at which point Diablo is killed. I'm pretty sure they intend for Diablo to be the final boss, the game is his namesake, after all.
Im not saying Diablo isn't the final boss, I belive he is, but the single word "and" could mean hes just killable somewhere in the game
My post wasn't even about Diablo being last boss or not, but where the last batlle would be Who says the Diablo fight can't be taken to Heaven?
Imagine that. I wouldn't mind facing Diablo in the Angiris Council throne room, or something like that. Now that would be epic. Personally I would have preferred it if they held Diablo until the final expansion, so that he would be the very final boss.
Perhaps he could have escaped and we face something else, an corrupted angel perhaps. However, I hope we don't face him more than once, one final kill would be enough. I mean, how many times do we need to down him in some form or another before he stays dead.
Facing him in D3 and again in an expansion would just be overkill.

You guys are missing the whole lore aspect of this....we never really killed any of the prime evils....the soul stones where meant to weaken the 3 prime evils not make them strong/we destroy them we destroy the evils....us destryoing the soulstones is really what they wanted...none of the primes could walk on sanc in their true form (which was one of main functions for the soul/worldstones) really what we/tyreal did was what the 3 primes wanted....plus now think of this....if the lord of the 7 sin is invading w all his forces...whos watching home....i think diablo baal and meph had this planed from the beging hes gonna get 2 birds w one stone....gonna get his throne/power back PLUS the worldstone is destroyed by the one person able to slow or stop him besides us which is tyreal(plus we dont kno ALL of his part in this)....meaning heaven and hell made a pact before why not again? all im saying is something smells and i dont think its cause azmodan dosnt shower....

for some reason my post didnt post so bare w me im trying to kinda rewrite it like it was (because it was convincing)
You guys are forgetting the lore part.....the soulstones where only a way to keep the primes from making sanc into their own hell(us destroying the soulstones didnt destroy the primes) destroying the soul/worldstone only made the primes more powerful not kill them(so wut we/tyreal did helped the primes not hurt)....and remember non of the primes where in their true form yet(because of the soul/worldstones)plus that if the lord of the 7 sins is sending all his forces to the sanc to find this black soulstone whos watching home?
personally i think the 3 primes had this all planed, they where killing 2 birds w one stone....they get everyone out of hell so they can get their power back AND come back in their true forms and kick ass.(plus now the one person besides us that could slow him down or stop them was tyreal)wheres he at wuts his story? remember heaven made a pact w hell before....wut makes us think they havnt again?
idk but basicly wut im saying is something smells and i dont think its cause azmodan dosnt shower.... its not wut i typed before it sounded alot better then now but ya....soulstones where only a form to weaken them along with the worldstone with both gone....wut now? hells a ghost town with all eyes on sanc it gives the 3 primes a chance to take hell back over AND can come in all 3 of their "true" form i think when all this goes down that will be the end of d3(meaning last boss will b azmodan then right when we think we have everything solved/saved....BOOOM out pops diablo and his bros wiping wut little forces are left from azmodan AND man then getting momentum for heaven.....in a nut shell kinda way)
Yeah. The thing that really has me wondering is, when the Evils were defeated, they weren't technically killed, probably just banished. Clearly they didn't go back to hell, or else Azmodan and Belial would have had to face them again during the 20 years since D2. So, I wonder where they went.
Someone at the Q&A during Blizzcon actually asked what happens a Lesser Evil after he/she is defeated, where's Duriel and Andariel, and Blizzard stated that it would be revealed in D3. All these unanswered questions just makes the wait so much worse.
I origninally thought that the Panel refering to the "throne" demons as lesser evils was just casual usage of the term, but i have a new thought (bling!) Maybe they are the remanant of past evils, the female one being Andariel, the horned guy has horns like Mephisto, so the last is Duriel (process of elimination). The reason that mephisto is on the same level as the others is that Diablo strategically took them out "one by one" and now they realise "damn, this guy got a plan, lets gang up on him"....wait! there are six guys on the throne. DAMN! Oh well, just leave this for fun reading.
Ok, that didn't work out so here's another idea (bling!) My new thoughts are that the "throne" demons are actually Azmodan himself. Notice that in the cinematic, they are all smokey, then they look at Leah, then there is a flash (glowing eye flash?) and Azmodan appears from smoke. Now the reason for this? I dont know. Maybe its just an ability or maybe he needed to split in order to rule hell.

It was said, but by all means it could be just Blizzard "trolling" us but it was said, that's for sure.
Diablo is the last boss, they confirmed it in the G4 interview something like "The game is done, you can play all the way up to diablo"
