So from the datamining a few months back, we learned Diablo will (of course) make his (her?) return in Diablo 3. We learned some of his abilities and some of the fight mechanics. Almost positively, he will be the final boss in the game, and as we know there are only 4 acts in the game.
This is the passage from the (art?) panel at this years BlizzCon:
Belial uses coercion and lies to get others to fight for him. The Triune and vipers are underlings to Belial. It was also noted that in gameplay, many of his underlings will appear human and then turn on you. Belial's pressence will be encountered in Act II around Caldeum. The once prosperous city has fallen and refugees are on the verge of death. Your hero will come into the story trying to figure out how the city has fallen and why Belial is there.
While it doesnt gaurentee he will be the final boss in act 2, I believe its enough ground to make the assumption Belial will be act 2's main boss.
Act 3 (to my knowledge) hasnt had any information released about it. It's possible Azmodan will be act 3's boss, dealing with him before moving on to Diablo. However it is possible they may save Azmodan for a future expansion as they did Baal in D2. Act 1 we don't know much past the Skeleton King. If the Siege breaker made the final cut, I think he might be the final boss here, based on his enormous size and killing-animations. This may be highly unlikely due to him being shown in the announcement trailer, but who knows. Maybe another returning Diablo 1 character will be ressurected by the 'Fallen Star'..... maybe the Butcher, or Lazarus, or even Lachdanan.
Not sure about act 1 but yeah the rest seems right.
I know they said Siegebreaker wasn't a boss in the demo. Not the act boss at least. Probably the Maiden of Lust or whatever.
The spider queen is actually a monster too but it's not really related, it's not the concept art we saw. Aranea, the spider queen, is just a big spider.
I didnt list the spider queen because they scraped her completely, then brought her back after the blizzcon 10 costume winner. Seems weird to scrap something, then bring it back as an end act boss? I don't know, my 2 cents.
No I'm pretty sure they even said in the footage he's not the last boss.
Edit: Hmm no not in the video they didn't say he wasn't the last boss, I'm pretty sure they've said it elsewhere though. Besides why would they reveal an act boss, mechanics and all? He's probably toward the end of Act 1, of course that whole Act has changed because saving Cain isn't the same anymore either.
Seems like the logical progression to me. However, it's totally possible this could be mixed up with some crazy angels trying to mess with our shit. Maybe as the act one boss, since I can't see where else they'd fit on.
On the other hand, crazy angels could be the subject of the expansion...
That's what I meant. Of course he's not the last boss of the game, but I don't think in 08' they's spoil the last boss of Act 1. I think he's close to the end of Act 1 but I don't think he's the last boss.
^ In the expansion maybe, Malthael most likely Chris Metzen said in Blizzcon that he flipped out ever since the Worldstone was stolen and that they're still developing his character, I have a feeling he'll turn rotten like Inarius
i have an feeling that we might fight an angel dunno in which act but still i just got this feeling
I really hope so!! It would be a nice change if we would fight an angel for once. But the story leading up to the fight must fit, otherwise no. Maybe a corrupted angel?
Well you don't really need that much of a story buildup to kill an angel in D3. Its not like angels are as they are in the Bible. In Diablo they only have their own interests in mind, and a lot of them see Sanctuary and the humans that live there as a threat that should be eliminated (ie Imperius). So even if an angel isn't corrupted, they may be one of a group of angels that wants to exterminate humanity.
As far as Izual goes, I'm pretty sure that either in the Q&A or the Lore panel they confirmed that he is making an appearance.
