So, I'm planning on getting the collector's edition of D3, and I don't think it will be available to purchase it through Blizzard. So my question is, if I purchase the CE through, say, Gamestop, will I still be able to download the game before its launch as if I had purchased the digital copy through Blizzard?

My place really was here. I was too foolish and stubborn to notice. But, what I truly hoped for then was here. Why do I always realize it When I've already lost it.
No. You need the key that is on a physical piece of paper inside the CE box. You won't even be able to download the client before that as it requires that you enter a CD-Key. That's been the case with SC2 and the last few WoW expansions.
You can download the client early only if you buy the digital version.
Thanks for all of the feedback. I can't remember when I bought SC2, but I think I was able to pre-download it. I'm definitely going to get the CE though, so I'll just play it by ear.

Ha. Bagstone.
This is what I'll be doing actually.
Also, I hope to pick up the CE at GameStop at midnight.
