I think that the thief would be a cool class, and has plenty of motivation for fighting Diablo's minions - it's where all the loot and gold is. I don't think all of the character classes need to be in the fight for totally benevolent reasons - the Demon Hunter is fighting for revenge, or something. Why can't there be a class who sees the potential profit in fighting demons and uses his/her skills there? A thief could have passives that give bonuses for using a knife, magic find/gold find boosts, and active skills built around knives just like Demon Hunters have skills built around bows/crossbows.
havnt blizz already stated that exp classes gonna be something we never seen before? that would exclude shapeshifter, and other archtypes too...
If they exclude archetypes already done, then they cannot put in a new class. Everything has already been covered somewhere (that's kind of the point of archetypes). What the 'never before seen' means is something either new to the franchise or an overhaul of a precious character. They may have a shifter, they may even call it a druid, but it will work differently and have different focus in skills.

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
Yeah yeah, I was thinking about it due to the pirate swords in D3, thats all.
And ppl at diablo 3 wants to have deathknight back (edit: back = wasnt he a enemy in D1?), a hybrid between vampire and a paladdin.
Most dislike it, they say its too much "wow" over it.
I have never played WOW more then 20 minutes, so to me it doesnt matter.
Its a shield, blood drain, dark aura type of character.
The paladin already hooked up with the assassin to make the monk.
Now you want him to cheat on the assassin and get it on with some vampire?!?

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!
Someone who turns into various beasts/changes body parts (like sword/claw arms) and has optional nature elemental damage/spells/builds as well as spiritual summons as opposed to the witch doctor who has warlock/necromancer feel.
Pirate? Nope. Probably a beast master or some nature loving character. Druid + shapeshifter = Beast master. Or it could just be a returning character.
Beast master is nearly as bad as the pirate.
The druid in D2 could be a beast master, and it was awful.
You summon a bear, some wolves, some ravens, a wine, and a spirit. Walk into hell cows, and within 15 seconds everything but the spirit was dead. And then what? Summon them back, splat, summon, splat....and even if they somehow stayed alive, what could you do?

That's why you don't do summoning in D2. It's not balanced like how it could be in D3. I wouldn't compare pirates to beast masters, since beast master is basically a druid and they belong in Diablo. Pirate's are low lifes.

Yah, but even if it did work, you only have 6 active skills. To me at least, having several of those limited skills tied to pets would be rather dull. And with each additional pet summoned, your actions become more inconsequential. eventually it would come to a point where you just re-summon and loot.

I think it would be awesome if the exp characters were demons or perhaps a demon and an angel. Use dark magic against dark magic, or raise a holy sword against the burning hell's.
The Diablo games were always on the perspective of humans, since humans had more to lose in the conflict than angels and demons. So no on a non-human character. Even half-humans were tried with the original concept of the DH, but they scrapped it.
Just because "pirate swords" are in Diablo 3 doesn't mean that they are in fact pirate swords. Could anyone not have come up with the same design besides a pirate? Just because pirates of old wielded them doesn't actually coin them being pirate-only swords, plenty of others wielded such.
And "Pirates" doesn't mean that they are in fact pirates, as we know them, in Diablo 3.

Hell no, not me, just wrote something I read from other requests from Diablo 3 site.

It was merely a suggestion. I think it would be awesome to be a demon, and would open up all kinds of dark magics to the player.

Basically, bring back the druid.

When you stop to think about it the Barbarians really aren't Barbarians, especially the way we know them in our world.
How are they not barbarians exactly?
It was merely a suggestion. I think it would be awesome to be a demon, and would open up all kinds of dark magics to the player.
I would hope not, the assassin looks like a chick who might get a little snippy.
And then if he pisses off the Vampire, she might get a little bitey.
It is a very dangerous situation, and if he is not careful, the paladin could lose his favorite weapon.
