Well lets be realistic diablo isnt bringing much cash in and blizzard is company they are all up for a profits i am sure we wont see diablo 4 but only realistic thing would be expansion . It can be some ingame shop for cosmetic and some other stuff and then some minor changes but i still would go whit expansion as they need diablo bring some money in .
I am played diablo 2 and my favourite classes were necromancer and amazon i would be happy to see necromancer in game as wd isnt nothing like the diablo 2 necromancer is ,any1 who says it is havent really actually played diablo 2 necro Byt we can weit and see atm we can only share ouer hopes and stuff what we think what can happen and what wont happen.
Estimated 35 million copies of RoS sold at an average cost of $32 = $1,120,000,000
I can assure you that the entire RoS project did not cost them more than 300 million, thus they had over 800 billion in pure profits on D3 RoS
That is simply profit from RoS, Vanilla Diablo 3 sold 42m at full price 3m at a deluxe price, and another 10m copies at discounted prices.
We can definitely change the numbers a bit due to sunk costs of adding so much free content to D3 RoS to help improve the game as it was rapidly losing fans beyond a limit they felt acceptable.
Necro is pointless. We already have Witch Doctor and it's basically the same.
I WISH SOME OF YOU WOULD READ OTHER POSTS INSTEAD OF POSTING NONSENSE IRRATIONAL COMMENTS!!!!!
End Trigger:
If you played Necro in D2, you would know they are maybe 5% the same class in that they both summon something. So is the Barb the same as WD because he summons Ancients? is a Wizard the same as WD because they summon hydra's and a familiar? Is a Monk the same as WD because they summon mystic's? Is a Sader the same as WD because he can summon Avatars? Is a DH the same as WD because he has a companion?
The clear answer is NO, they are not the same. If you knew the lore of the Necromancer you would know that he functions more so like a tank than a weak int hero. He uses curses, not disease (huge difference) and he also uses bones to shield himself or damage enemies. He provides several useful aura's whether they be to do damage, provide some cc, or provide some resistance. Clearly, the Necro is NOT THE WD
You people need to stop being irrational with your thought process.
I WISH you stop using "irrational" as a word describing "people who disagree with you".
And if you knew about Game design, you would understand that curses / diseases and Witch doctor's debuffs are virtually the same except the visual. That fetish and skeleton armies are the same thing except for the visual, that Gargantuan / dogs and Golem is virtually the same except for the visual. The witch doctor uses blood and poison instead of bones to damage enemies and be more resistant. The WD provides several useful auras whether they be to do damage, provide some cc, or provide some resistance. Clearly the necro is the WD. Just in a different visual package.
You need to stop telling that disagreeing with your point of view on a subjective issue is about rationality.
To conclude, I don't mind that the necro was blizzard's choice, (it's pretty sure at this point) I just think that they are going to have to betray some of the core historical and mechanical characteristics of the Necro to prevent it from overlapping with the WD.
Here is how the conversation about WD-Necro has been going on :
Wait but necro is about summoning huge armies of familiar who accomplish his bid !
-Oh you mean zunimassa.
Yeah no buta necro can spec into golem and use his mastery of undeath magic to damage his enemies.
-You mean Wall of death Helltooth ?
Yeah, no but you don't understand, the necromancer is the master of affliction and rot, he can inflinct pain over time and slowly take his foe's lifeforce.
-Jade set.
In terms of pure abstract game design, necro and WD ARE the same, not that they will be, or that they should be but diablo 2 necro and diablo3 WD are the same in everything but visuals. When necro releases they probably will be more different because they will try to differentiate the two. (And probably fail like crusader)
irrational and disagreement are not being confused here.
You just said something that is true of all classes. A DOT IS A DAMN DOT, just different visuals.
We all do damage and prevent damage with our class. Shit, they are all the same, game over announcement here haha
*Thus, we cannot ever see a new class, they all do damage, and prevent damage, shit!!!!!
Necro is pointless. We already have Witch Doctor and it's basically the same.
http://www.mtv.com/news/2457456/diablo-iii-necromancer/
An old interview with Jay Wilson back before Diablo 3 was released.
"We are trying to design the Witch Doctor class so that if we did bring back the Necromancer, there's room for him. We're looking out ahead of time at what our expansions are going to be, so we've got to keep room open for some of those other classes down the road."
Functionally, the WD in D3 and the Necro in D2 are very similar, but that doesn't mean that introducing a necro into D3 would use the same design template.
Just having summons wouldn't automatically make them too similar, it would depend on how those summons function, how the Necro interacts with them (WD nearly doesn't interact with them minus Carnevil spec), and what other things the Necro does. Depending on how creative they are, they can make a Necro that still brings nostalgia while not overlapping too much with the WD. I mean, the Druid in D2 also had an entire summoning tree, and they still manage to fulfill a different fantasy from the Necro.
A druid, in my opinion, would have made more sense since we are missing the shapeshifter archetype in the game. If we get the Druid AND the Necromancer, I'd be more than pleased.
And I want a javelin/spear Amazon. Three classes right there that would be one hell of an expansion!

this picture greatly disappoints me where now i'm thinking d3 expac where they need to cut their losses and make a new game, theres too much wrong in d3 to make it worthwhile, engine is too old, graphics are meh (lost ark says hi) greater rifts are a mess, itemization is shit. skills are old and boring. the list goes on and on

d3 is dead. and it should stay dead.
i play it every season... for me it isn't dead and graphics really dosnt matter at all

I'm willing to bet money that we will not get a Diablo 4, for a LONG time. With, that is, one very specific exception in my opinion.
You see, keeping Diablo the way we know it ( single player or only a couple people, pretty much everyone playing their own instance of the game ) would mean there's zero reason to scrap an ENTIRE game. This argument of 'the engine is old' is ridiculous. Blizzards not going for ultra uncanny valley realism, so there's no reason to create and entirely new game with a new engine to boot. Every problem can be fixed via patches, and all an expansion is is just a huge patch. Blizzard is not going to just discard ALL the artwork, world building ect just to fix some problems.
The only possible way Blizzard would use up so much time and resources to make a brand new Diablo game on a new engine, would be if it plays drastically different than what Diablo 3 is now. If, for example, they wanted to make a Dark Souls type game, then they would need all new art, systems ect. OR, if, (he says in hushed tones) they wanted to try a Diablo style MMO, then again we'd see everything built from the ground up.
So if Blizzard wants to stay in the isometric / single player or small group / instanced game / demon slaying loot hunt genre that Diablo is known for, at MOST we'll get an expansion announcement.
But, if they want to go a brand new direction for Diablo, THAT'S when they'll make an entirely new game.
They hired a new art director 11 months ago. He's on the 45 minute panel to help discuss new content for Diablo 3.
Why? Art director's do the heavy lifting, like world design, telling the artists how everything should feel and look, the colors, the mood, high level shit. So he'll probably be up there to say, "Look at this cathedral! Or this entirely new area! This is the feel we went after when creating Skovos."
So D3 is getting something, and it may be as huge as an expansion. Because you don't put your art director on stage to talk about transmogs and season resets, which I keep hearing is the expectation and is getting ridiculous.
Personally I think that if d3 goes with expansion they should bring 1 or 2 new classes(everyone would like necro to be back) and NEW sets(not remake of the old ones) so that we take advantage of the classes in different ways. It's not nice to have specific classes in the leaderboards. Everyone should be able to be as long as he is really well geared. Also the game seems to have issues like lag caused by things like area damage..annoying right? Just remove it and change the way some spells deal damage..and fixed.
The point is competition since all of us have heard about Lost Ark and Lineage Eternal being on the way. And they seem really well made. So what could bliz do to be competitive? An expansion on a game that is losing fans due to not having new ideas and you get bored to play just the same thing every season with minor changes or a new game that could bring the Diablo franchise back to life?
I do understand the fact that you are trying to make us understand, by telling that D3 is lost in so many ways, that the only competitive factors will be a complete reboot or new game in the franchise, but I, as many others believe, could very well an expansion or a big patch make the game better and can compete with those other games mentioned. An graphic overhaul is indeed makeable, as shown so often in WoW expansions and patches, so why not for D3?
About the Necro class leaked: it could be something related to D3, as John Mueller is the new Art Director for Diablo related stuff. It also looks very similar to the tone of the new website related to RoS. What is intrigues me more though, is the 2 hours stage time of the so called lightning talk added to the schedule of the BlizzCon for Diablo. These are not live video feed, so maybe there is something going on after BlizzCon. The PTR is still online, so I can imagine some major patch coming for season 9.
well, it may very well be just a poster they want to sell for attendees on the floor.
if it is a new class, i do wonder how they would go about it. if they are going for a summoner, how would it go about quantity/quality here? in d2 you had to skills in the tree that amps up the number you can summon and their stamina. i guess you can go for passives and legendary items but still...
as far as "Bone" Skills, i can see some variety - the classic Teeth and Bone Spear, Bone Armor for Survivability. Taking stuff from the Kimimaru fight in Naruto can also work for more AOE skills.
Blood magic can also come into play here with Vampirsm and Blood Golem.
Spirit is more of the WD niche so i don't think that there will be something here for the Necro.
Curses can be an interesting mechanic as an active Aura you can do like in the live game be instead of targeted you can have it gererated like Frozen Nova.
you can do some great stuff to keep true to the classic niche of the necromancer while also trying out fresh stuff.
we'll see what happens when Blizzcon rolls out this coming friday.
I dunno why you guys are getting so worked up about a book cover. Clearly this is the cover to the next Diablo novel or a new candy crush variant called: soul stone crush
I have a bad feeling that this is going to be a new cosmetic effect for sets in an upcoming patch. Sort of how there was a D2 necromancer set that turned you into a vampire, this will be a witch doctor set that makes you look like a necro, with bonuses to some witch doctor skills that maybe make them more necro-like. (e.g. skeletons replacing dogs) There's already a male necro in the game so it might not be that much effort. They can slowly roll out similar sets for crusader->paladin, demon hunter->amazon, etc.
A druid, in my opinion, would have made more sense since we are missing the shapeshifter archetype in the game. If we get the Druid AND the Necromancer, I'd be more than pleased.
What if they had the druids use javelin/spears
Nah druids were clubs. The amazon had so many javelin skills easily a new class. Add spear skills as well and that is a complete class on its own. Druids shape shift no need for javelins and spears

it could be a scrapped expansion like many have argued, and that this new char is one of the last pieces of assets they didnt hand out yet.

Its gonna suck if blizz announces nothing lmao.. No d2 remake no d3 expansion no d4. I expect a expansion for d3 but thats about it.
It will not be "nothing" when in the descriptions themselves they talk about "NEW FEATURES AND PATCHES"
