First of all. Good morning everyone. I hope you all didn't lose sleep over blizzards miss information on yesterdays "START of the closed beta".
But to the point at hand. To help those with lingering desires of wanting to know when invites will come, you can best expect them (IF THEY SEND THEM) the earliest in about 3 hours and a half hours from now. Seeing as no one stayed late at Blizzard HQ except the forums Mods. We can be sure they weren't working to send invites out. So it only makes sense that invites will be sent at the earliest(IF THEY SEND THEM), is on their business hours. 9:30-6PM. (This is California time, 3 hours behind me)
Hope this helps some of you

Went outside today, the graphics were ok. But the gameplay sucked
P.S. To anyones knowledge be it from Diablofans.com or on the actual diablo community website. NO ONE has received beta access other than media. So don't worry if you think you didn't get an invite. We didn't either

Seems right. I didn't see / read any posts, that someone got in throught "Opt-in" Only. May be delayed like how some "Press" got in before Force did, then got notice that CB had started many hours (could make case days) later.
Good news, all be it a buffer to dissappointment; BUT always think positive

Wrong. Blue posts have already mentioned sending out opt-in invites. The number is ridiculously low so they are planning contests and giveaways to calm the tide of anger.
The plan is to keep a certain number of active players, new players only get invites when accounts become inactive or capacity is expanded, so don't expect a beta invite at all.
Good morning. It's 6.30 am and a new day has started in Cali (wish I was there)... so get to your offices dear Blizzard employees and start sending those emails... NAO !

You should post a link to the supposed blue post that confirms not just the "start of the beta", but the actual sending of opt-in invites.

Still no evidence, all speculation and anger.
Yep, Blizzard launched the beta with no intention of inviting people, hurrdurr.

Methinks you assume too much.
I like how make the claim I'm jumping the gun, then jump the gun yourself in the next sentence.
They will NOT tell you when invites are going out, but they confirmed they've started going out. There are no "waves", per-se, just invites as new testers are needed.

I'm sorry but your information is wrong, blizzard did NOT say opt-ins invites were sent out. They said in a blue post that i quoted in a thread last night, that they have just been able to announce that progress of the beta is able to be considered closed beta. This announcement from blizzard only said that it is now closed beta and that the media are now able to play.
The news from yesterday says they will do contests ALONG WITH the waves of opt-in invites. If they did what you think they were doing, they would never be able to stress test the servers with that low number of people.
I will be straight. THE OPT-INS WILL COME IN WAVES UPON WHAT BLIZZARD NEEDS TO TEST THEIR EQUIPMENT, THEY HAVE NOT GONE OUT YET EXCEPT FOR MEDIA.

It wasn't misinformation, it was a misinterpretation by the community. Blizzard is intentionally vague (not sure why people still act surprised), and Zarhym already clarified why, in the post that hawkeyenick linked above.
Fact is, they don't owe us an explanation. If anything, we owe them for allowing us the opportunity to check it out and help shape the game before release.
I was saying he was wrong about blizzard announcing that opt in invites were sent out, when in fact they weren't. He contradicts himself by posting the link where the blue post, admits not being able to say whether the invites have gone out or not. If they aren't allowed to say that, then how can they say the invites went out?

People are forgetting how large Blizzard fanbase is. WoW players have just as much a chance to opt in the Diablo 3 beta.
In a month or so I expect shitload of candidates to be invited because at some point they will have to stress test the traffic of downloaders etc.
Exactly, so trickling in small amounts of players over the course of the beta isn't possible for a stress test.

You didn't read anything I just posted, there's a developer confirming the first wave was sent and another stating they wouldn't be releasing any information on waves from here on out.
Your misinterprating the information. They did not say "From here on out" they did not say "The invites have been sent" they only stated that the beta progress is now in closed beta, and that they are not allowed to say when invites go out.

--------->This is something we aren't likely to answer during the beta test. Ever.<---------------
EVER meaning the entire process they aren't allowed to say.
the blue post you linked is something i read the moment it came out on the forums last night. We already knew of it because i quoted it in another thread I made yesterday.

Well as I said before, untill we see proof from a few people that they got in from "Opt-in" only, I say it's a safe bet that at a minimum, very few invites were sent (if any yet). So let's take a step back before we let Beta fever kill the community here, and just calm it a little.
"...As with beta tests for other Blizzard Entertainment games, the testing process for Diablo III will occur in phases. In each phase we will be selecting players who have opted in via their Battle.net accounts, and we welcome everyone to provide feedback on the official forums."
Some people here seem seriously butt hurt due to not being invited during the first wave, you guys seriously need to take this thing less personal. Unless you work for blizzard and is personally responsible for handing out the invites, you simply cannot say whether opt-ins have started or not. Both claiming they have and claiming they haven't are assumptions and nothing more.
Just because people haven't posted what *you* consider proof, does not mean it hasn't started. Likewise people posting "proof" may be lying. And to be honest, considering how people are directly assaulted on here should they even hint at being in the beta, i don't really blame possible betaplayers for laying low rather than expose themselves of all that bs. Also, not everyone signed up for the beta are a part of this community you know...
Bottomline, stop being so over the top defensive about beta invites having gone out or not
We can say, law of numbers. *SOMEONE* would post *SOMEWHERE* if they got into the beta and only opted in. All these people who seemed to have missed the fiasco last night and are now being like 'they clearly invited people.' If they let opt-ins in, then they let in like 10 and none of them seem to exist on the internet.
People may be lying etc yes, but were you there when the SC2 Closed Beta was announced? There was a flood of people announcing they'd received an invite etc. Who said our sources was this community alone? Go check the official forums, both in the beta feedback and general discussion forums there isn't a single credible post that says someone got in via an opt-in. There shouldn't be a few, there should be many of these posts, like with SC2, the proof is in the lack of proof of people getting in. So I say again, either a tiny number of people got in (like under 100) or invites only went out to press so far.

Correct, the closed beta phase has started. But this does not mean any opt-in invites were sent out. Blizzard made that clear last night.
